She had the opportunity to make a name for herself and the first words out of her mouth at the convention was to compare herself with a dog. This was the image presented to the entire world of what could have been the first female VP of the USA. Need I say anymore....

I don't need the media to make decisions for me. I am quite capable of reading and drawing my own conclusion. Her vitrol rhetoric said it all. I would have respected her if she had apologize for the misstep and of the things that were said during the heat of the campaign, but to blame others for what came out of her mouth....No!

Can't you just imagine her at a state dinner talking to heads of state with some "Joe Six-Pack" comment. She should take some time to truly ask herself who is to blame for her media coverage. Because I dont know about you, but while I was slaving over books in the library and driving myself into debt with student loans during my 4 1/2 years in school, my sole intention was to get a degree and a well paying job, so I can pay for someone else to have 17 illegitimate children running around their two story house while using a LINK card to buy groceries, so they can reserve their cash for their next fix. Obama's tax plan provides tax 'credits' for low-income individuals, and taxes the life out of high-income citizens. He talks about wanting to help the little people, small business owners, but punishes the most successful business owners.

I DID plan on using my college education to make a difference in my community. I had plans to start my own business, which means I could employ some people in my community. Unfortunately, under this new new tax plan, it will be nearly impossible for me to start my own business. McCain's tax plan was better than Obama's when it comes to small busninesses, where Obama just shifts the responsibilty to the more successful.

And you are definitely right about the welfare system needing reform. To begin with, drug testing should be implemented. And how about instead of just handing money to people, let's educate them? Where are the job placement programs, training courses?

I am sure to most in here, I sound very snoody, one might even refer to me as "unpatriotic" for not wanting to lend a helping hand to my fellow citizen. This is not the case at all. I have a job, I pump money back into the economy of my own country. That is an extreme act of patriotism. I understand some people just get stuck between a rock and a hard place, it DOES happen, and I am sympathetic to those indivuduals. I just personally don't see how this proposed tax plan will help to reform the welfare system, because that's exactly what it is. Welfare under another name.

I know all about Welfare, "Classy."  I was raised on it.  It's not an easy way to live at all. It's not for the cowardly or lazy and no one gets rich on it nor lives well. I'm not saying Welfare should allow people to live a great lifestyle -- I worked hard, got an education and now have a wonderful, great-paying job because living poor and being looked down upon was not for me.  Just walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge them.

Okay, fair enough.  I just get tired of people assuming that the vast majority of their tax dollars go to lazy people on Welfare who don't want to work when in fact most tax dollars go to the military for questionable wars and expenses ($900 hammers, anyone?). 

Classy is surely anything but. Look, a civilized society, particularly a democracy, requires a large and stable middle class. When the robber-barons want to plunder, they don't rob each other, they try to bleed the middle-class. And to do that, they initiate class warfare and demonize the weakest of our society so that the middle class will point in the wrong direction and give them a chance to really clean up. Our problem is NOT with the boogeyman "classy" has been taught to fear; it's the Madoffs and Haliburtons. Once we focus on the real cause, we have a chance of fixing the problem. And, BTW, this brotherly-hate is antithetical to basic social principle and pretty bad for any claim to being a good person.

During the campaign, Obama said he would not raise taxes on anyone earning less than 250,000.  He may not simply allow the Bush tax cuts to expire.  That is reality.  The rest is propaganda (like Obama being a Muslim.)  The Bush tax cuts have done a lot to take us from a budget surplus to the largest deficit in history.  With the dire straits this country is in now, I would hope they would be patriotic enough to want to give back as they are able.

And, as for the young, the old, the ill or someone down on their luck because of the current economy and needs help from us, let us all remember "What so ever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me."

That being said, on to your reference to 'class warfare'. Realizing I will sound a little bit like" Joe the Plumber" here, Why are the hard working citizens the ones who will be punished? BO can say he is not punishing anyone until he's blue in the face, but it doesn't change the fact that he is. BO claims to believe in the American Dream. Well, the american dream is not working your way up from the bottom only to be slapped with higher taxes once you've finally 'made it.' Simply put, BO would rather give handouts to the less fortunate as a temporary fix, instead of taking the necessary steps to improve their lifestyle. Example: Giving a stimulus check to someone who does not even have to pay takes. Sure, that sum of money will help for a while, but once the money runs out, what next? The individual is still unemployed, and has no credible soure of income ( Other than welfare, disability, etc. ) I have already pointed out once in a previous comment that he could do alot of good by researching more into job placement programs, training courses, etc, but, judging from your comment it seems you didnt really read anything I wrote, so I'll say it again. BO could really help the 'little guy' by pumping more money into job placement programs, training courses, follow up programs, etc. The only class warfare that will actualize is when BO "redistributes the wealth" as planned.

So, Classy, are you saying you make more than 250,000?   If you read the Obama plan, he would not raise the taxes on the first 250,000.  So, if you made 240,000, you would pay no additional taxes.  If you made 300,000, you would pay the current rate on the first 250,000 and you would only pay extra taxes on 50,000.  It is this group of people who got the advantages of Bush's policies while the rest of us got stuck with the bills.  (Talk about class warfare and income redistribution!)

If someone would pay me that much, I would be willing to pay a little more on the amount over 250,000.  (But, then, I am feel it is both patriotic and Christian to give to the greater good of society.)

Yes, Classy, Obama has discussed that possible outcome.  He has suggested that he may not reverse the Bush tax cuts, merely allow them to expire in a couple of years (when, hopefully, the economy will be better.)  Still, does any one person need to earn more than 5 million a year?  (Several CEO's earn more than 100 million a year.)  Since this small group of people got all the advantages (at the expense of the rest of us), why shouldn't they have to help reverse the problems?

So, again I ask, does your small business have profits ABOVE $250,000?  Most small businesses have profits well below that level.  In any case, the possible (now unlikely) tax increase would only cover the amount OVER $250,000.  You would pay the same amount for the first $250,000 and only pay the extra taxes on the amount OVER $250,000. 

So, if you make $255,000, you pay what you currently pay on 250,000 and a little extra for the remaining 5,000.  If you make 1,000,000, well, yes, you will be paying a lot more. Or, rather, you will be paying what you did before Bush got into office.  (In the long run, his tax cuts didn't really help the economy, did it?  Biggest deficits, two wars and the worst economy since the Great Depression.)

I am not a small business owner, so let me ask you this -- other than employment taxes, do you pay taxes on salaries and other expenses?  Don't expenses, including payroll, come off your business profits?  Don't you pay taxes on profits only?  Obama is NOT raising employment taxes.

Again, anyone earning less than $250,000 will NOT pay extra taxes.  And, the Obama tax plan is to return the tax rate what is was before Bush. 

Palin isn't intelligent enough to be governor of Alaaaaska let alone VP of the United States. Alaska has over 6 percent unemployment right now. What has she done to help that little problem? Her son Skip, Trick, Slick or whatever had to go to the army or to jail for "breaking the law". She lives in the nineteenth century, for the most part and attends a church that seems to employ Cotton Mather as it's pastor. She isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Yes, she would have attempted to change things in our country, right back to the Dark Ages, or at least, pre-Bill of Rights and The Constitution.  Her 'rogue' attempts to do things her own way would have been counter-productive to upholding the President, and a huge detriment to any leadership qualities McCain may have had.  If she had proven that she actually knew anything about current events, logic, history, ethics, geography, anything other than mob-mentality propaganda, she might have been ok, but that is not the way she, Sarah Palin, came across. Her very words bespoke her ignorance; the media didn't have to change them in any way to prove it.

Alaska is in the red due to the huge amount of natural resources in the state, not due to Palin's policies.  After this little fiasco, most Alaskans felt that she abandoned the state when it was in a state of crisis.  Thankfully, the strong infrastructure of Alaska's state politics (non withstanding the corrupt few that are being brought to justice) pulled Ak through in a time of turmoil.

What have you done to "defend this nation?"  I was raised in Officers' Clubs and I married a career military officer.  My husband (now deceased) would have thought Palin was a joke, as do I.  Neither of us supported Bush and felt he did not support the military.  As with my husband, I have a life time of action to support this country, although I am sure you find me "unpatriotic."  (On the other hand, I admire her support of her son's military service.  I also admire McCain's family commitment to service, as well as Biden's.)

According to the Constitution, there are three qualifications to becoming VP:

1 - natural born US citizen

2 - at least 35 years of age

3 - win the election.

While Palin met the first two criteria, we are quite fortunate that she didn't make the third.

To be a natural born citizen, you must be born in the US (last time I looked, Hawaii is a part of the US; Panama is not) or a parent must be a US citizen at the time of your birth(Obama's mother was a US citizen when he was born.)

I feel your pain there in New York, it was the east coast's lack of believing a real person like Sarah Palin could exist.  After moving to the PA NJ area, in the country yet, from rural Ohio, we waved at people to be nice, after being chased down to sees what we wuz upt ta, we stopped even acknowledging people.

Bush lost in 2000 by 500,000 votes but still got into the White House.  He won in 2004 and claimed to have political capital because he won by 3 million votes.  Obama won by 9 million votes and you want to tell us that everyone who voted against Obama thinks he is a liar.  27% of all voters think Bush did a good job and about 90% of those people voted for McCain.  That means that 29 million people (of the 113 million votes cast) have pretty impaired judgement and continue to support Bush.  That means that more than half of McCain's votes came from people who voted republican, just because that is the only way they will ever vote.

Go back and look at the Pew Center's analysis...over 70% of the stories run on MSNBC, CNN, and network news were favorable to Obama...Clinton, Palin, and McCain were in the 40's. Sorry but the numbers don't support your claim. The Pew Foundation, an unbiased and respected think tank backs up Ms. Palin's claims.

When some of Obama's black voters were asked about Gov.Palin, they answered she is great too!! If she was running with Obama, she would have been  seen by the press and most of Obama's voters as the smartest choice possible!

The fact is Gov. Palin was thrown suddenly in the national limelight, was treated like dirt, all in all she did remarkably well.

Compare with the complete lack of experience of Obama, not to mention him rising to political power in one of the most corrupt political societies in America!!

I am more an independent than anything but have friends and family on both sides of the political fence. I have not met one person on the dem side that respected her enough to vote that way. A fair amount of the repubs voted against their own party due to fear she would end up president. If you really believe that they would have supported her as a dem, try polling it. 

She stepped into the limelight and couldn't hold her own. Obama has been called a terrorist, a muslim extremist so as far as being treated like dirt he had some slung at him as well. Actually, the vote was close because many voted for McCain due to Gov. Palin being on the ticket (read the polls). Obama succeeded in linking McCain with Bush (dishonestly) and making the economy  a "blame the President" issue. Nobody accused Obama of being a terrorist or extreme moslem, only of being friends with some (which is the truth). The media ignored this anyway. She did extremely well compared with Caroline Kennedy who wants to be a N.Y. senator and has been in the limelight all her life.

My point re. Palin on Obama's ticket was that most in the black community would have voted for Obama no matter who else was on the ticket.
