Lance Armstrong can win. Everyone doubted him when he was diagnosed with cancer, and had recieve chemotherapy. Yet he was able to pull off seven tour de france victories. And no he is not too old, and he was never doing drungs. Through out his entire career, he has been the most tested athelete for drugs, ever. So he couldn't have done drugs, and passed so many test!!! He can do it, and he will.
Yes he can. Lance Armstrong can do it, he has defied the odds before and can do it again. He was outstanding when he came back from a cancer diagnosis, and chemotharopy treatment and still won 7 TDF's. No he's not too old, nor has he done steroids or preformance enhancers, because he is the most tested athelete ever, and there is no way that he could have luckly passed so many tests. Yes he can, and I think that no matter what your opinion is, you should support him anyways.
team Astana will win the tour, especially because of who is in the team. Lance has the passion and the determination to win. his strongest oposition is C. Whether they will be able to work together is another thing.
I think Lance is gonna win and I am praying that he will as he is an outstanding athlete. He has overcome so much in his life. He is absolutely a WINNER!!!
Yes, he will win. He might be old ( hahahah- 37 yrs considered old ) He hasn't raced in 3 years- but he is a champion.
All the test for all those years and he never tested positive for anything- I mean come on people- they tested him on Christmas day for crying out loud !
Yes, he will win number 8. Why- because he is a champion. Always has been, always will be.
Don't forget, he has been tested more than perhaps any athlete in history. They came to his house on Christmas Day & tested him for crying out loud.
He may be older than a lot of other riders- he may be a little rusty- but he is still Lance Armstrong- Winner of 7 consecutive Tour de France races!!!!
Yes because he is not fighting or doing it this time for himself, but rather for all the cancer survivors and victims in the world. That kind of motivation is unparalled. With the chalkbot messages he'll see, he'll dig even deeper and win it for all those loved and lost to cancer. GO LANCE!!!!
Lance winning an 8th would make a phenom story, but I think he ends up working for Alberto, and Kloden. He rides shockingly strong, but finishes 3rd behind Alberto and Kloden. Super happy to make the podium. Anything better is a result of someones misfortune. Lance does look great physiclly, he looks like the old Arnstrong body wise. Alberto by comparison looks less defined. Lance always looked bigger to his rivals, less Ullrich. Notice the close up photos by comparison. That in itself makes you wonder if he can still climb with authority. We shall soon find out. Stage 7 upcoming.
He is not a quitter. I like that. Even if he loses because of his age; money will come into his charities. Seven Tour De France wins is amazing. His legacy is assured.
i woud never rule lance out just three days again he shows he still is his crafy old self when he got into that breakaway from the main pack and guess what alberta didnt this is a three week race its little things like that that can still win and his time trial if u remember he went very early he had no splits to go by and he still finish tenth he has run the nyc marathon a few times his legs are in excellent shape i know lance will support alberta if alberta prove himself better in the moutains but will alberta support lance somehow i dont think so
I especially enjoyed "bearcats" comments. So reasonable, and so incisive! Indeed none of us really knows if Lance can make "top dog" again. But again, "bearcat", I like your rational "take" on the whole episode...thanks for toning down the temperature....

It's a known fact that LA's capacity to process oxygen is almost superhuman, this has not degraded in the last four years. As a rider one of two things fail you in a race; your lungs or your legs. His heart has never been in question. LA will win the TDF.
Lance Armstrong is the greatest TDF champion. He is winning over the French in his vulnerability. Being 3 1/2yrs away from cycling, second banana to Contador, doing great for an old Texan, now perceived as drug free - the French finally accept and love him.
Greg Le Monde the greatest American cyclist, the last of the drug free cyclists.
Merckx the greatest of all...up to now.
Jacques Anquetil is the prototype of current champions. A great time trialist who can climb the big hills. Would have been better if not for his Mickey Mantle approach to life.
Lance Armstrong is the greatest Tour De France champion. Away from the sport 3 1/2 years, a 37 year old second banana to Contador, perceived as finally drug free, the French finally accept and love him.
Eddy Merckx is the greatest of them all.
Greg LeMond, is the greatest drug free American champion. Two time world champion, Master Innovator and complete cyclist. Current cyclists benefited from his tinkerings. Bad choice in hunting partner robbed him of his prime years. Despite the hundreds of lead in his body could have easily won more than three TDF before mitochondrial myopathy AKA Michele Ferrai ended his illustrous career.
Bernard Hinault does not even come near Greg LeMond. Credited for five TDFs but the last was really a gift from LeMond.
Jacques Anquetil, my fave, is the prototype of Indurain, Armstrong, and Contador; a great time trialist who can climb the big hills but unlike the three liked the bigger gears. Easily could have done greater things if not for his Mickey Mantle approach to life. Everything Mickey did, he did better.
Just completed review of stage 7. Very intresting development. Was Lance bluffing by staying behind the wheel of Cadel , or was he tanked, and was just hanging on? Either way, the first big test I'd say was a success. Don't forget, a climber usually gets stronger as the race progresses. Nevertheless, 4 years out of action and Bam, right there as one of the worlds best. You forget the physical demands of such a mountain stage. Look how many humans were laid to waste. I still get chills watching these guys punish themselves so. I kinda thought Alberto would lay down the law today, but he was hurting too. Great entertainment. Stop worring about who is the best this or that and just enjoy the show for 2009. Life is good.
All these negative comments on Lance... Well how do you all feel now after stage 8 where he took control of the Pelaton to close the lead on the breakaway?
Contador knows how fresh those old legs are, that is why he broke away from the teams plan to close his 40 second deficit, and now holds a 2 second lead on lance!
The inexperience of Contador will cost him the Tour de France to an old wiley veteran!
This is leading up to be the best TDF in the history of the event~! So many great teams/riders, and so many stratergies, i can not wait until next year when we will finally get to attend the TDF, been saving them pennies for 5 years for this 30 day vacation!

This man is fun to watch. He's been out of the game a long time, but he has incredible stamina and perseverance. I would really love to see him win.
