Process of elimination with these guys. Modano had more impact in his sport than the others in theirs. What happened to the name of Harmon Killebrew - the greatest Minnesota Twin?
These type surveys only reflect present and recent past, just like all of ESPN surveys!
The headline is very subjective and misleading. The greatest sports star in Minnesota history is Dave Winfield, a native of St. Paul, Minnesota. Winfield was an all-round athlete, who has been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the College Baseball Hall of Fame. He is one of two players ever to be drafted by three professional sports (MLB, NBA, and NFL).

I agree Harmon should have been listed but you gotta look at who won Championships. out of those people only one has in Minnesota and that's Kirby (bless his soul). Other notables might include George Mikan and Randy Moss. I personally think Moss is the second best reciever of all time behind Rice, might even pass him up but I think it'll be a close second.
What about Tony Olivia? Harmon Killebrew? George Mikan, who was one of the first big men in the NBA and carried the franchise for the Lakers before they were moved to Los Angeles?
I'd say Kevin McHale. The only actual Minnesotan - next to Mauer (who needs to make another 10 years) who should be on the list. Or how about Bronco Nagurski- another true Minnesotan?

I can't believe that Harmon Killebrew didn't make this list. And sorry even though he wasn't an active player...Bud Grant has my vote.
Fran Tarkenton was the man, is the man, and ever shall be the man. I used to watch him play sitting on my Daddy's knee.
George Mikan, hands down.

Bud had a LOSING record his last 5 years. And, his NO HANDWARMERS policy was ridiculous.
