It's obvious to me that the last thing we need in a recession is billionaires spending their money providing jobs... </sarcasm>
Yeeeees. And at the same time, he can do what he wants with his money, and I don't think the 'Boys will be having any attendance issues. I don't think they'll be winning a playoff game, either, but what else is new.
Is it Gaudy? Yes
Is it over-the-top? Yes
Is it unbelievable? Absolutely Yes.
This is a one-of-a-kind sight to behold. Having been in the place a couple of times all I can say is 'WOW' The attention to detail is incredible. A superb game watching experience. But Jerry, what's with a $9.00 Beer?
But Jerry, what's with a $9.00 Beer?
9-dollar beer?!?!?!? W-T-F...................
So he builds this football palace and then sets prices so high a normal person can't attend a game huh........................nice..................
Can you imagine what their tickets will cost? Look, it's a spectacle. Have to appreciate that someone is able to afford it (as long as it is the owner and pass on to their community citizens who may not even ever go to it). At the end of three hours, will it assist changing the score - I sincerely doubt it. I wish them the very best of luck keeping their new stadium "state of the art" for more than five years. (The cost to maintain it will be astronomical.)
Ridiculous to think that a stadium would motivate a player. How absurd. Right now the top of the league belongs to the Pittsburgh Steelers, until they are dethroned. And I'm betting the farm it wont be the "boys" that do it.
But it's not his money - a significant part of this is being financed by public funds - a public, by the way, many of whom won't be able to afford to attend a game there.
For those of you who voted for option 1. You should probably be hoping that your city chooses to build a new, expensive stadium during the recession - it means JOBS and the creation of a sub-regional economic base in your city. People and companies that are unable and/or unwilling to spend are part of the current problem.
Well, that is a point I didn't consider. Also, the stadium has made it possible to bring the Super Bowl to Dallas, which also helps the economy. So you make good points. Unfortunately, I wouldn't spend a minimum of $75 for parking or $170 for tickets, especially when the product on the field has been so medicore. Great marketing by Jerry Jones, though!

Depends on where you live. I seriously doubt the New Yee-Ha created more than triple digit permanent jobs. Texas Stadium employed a lot of folks too.

Should note that they did move from Irving to Arlington, so it probably helped out Arlington quite a bit if they didn't retain any prior employees, which they almost certainly did.
As I read the comments I knew he would not spend his billions, he is tighter than Trump. But wouldn't it have been wiser to spend the taxpayer's money and create jobs for something that everyone can afford to attend? OR drive on, how's the highways in Texas, hopefully better than CO. $9. for a beer Whoo Ha! I would like to see the inside though. It will probably be a tourist attraction and Jerry will charge $150. just to see the inside.
Why bother doing this survey? All fans aren't objective - myself included. If you love the Cowboys you vote its not excessive. If you hate them you vote it is excessive. I'm a Cowboy fan and would never say anything positive about the Giants or Eagles!
Arlington picked up a little over $300 million of the $1.2 billion tab...not chump change of course, but most of the money was private (Jerry probably contributed little more than a couple autographed portraits).
I like the cowboys, but I still just shake my head at this whole thing. Fancy stadiums do not win games. Thank you.
It's a nice looking stadium, but it will never match Lambeau.
Money cannot by what that field has seen over the years.
I totally agree with your thinking... which is why I was so happy that when the Bears debated whether to build entirely new in the suburbs, etc., they smartly decided to renovate Solider Field. Sure it's odd looking from the outside, but inside the storied history remains.
why all the uproar ? just consider it a "stimulus" cause it created a lot of jobs to build it when the construction workers families and the families of the material suppliers could have been on welfare on account of the "economy.." so basically, his spending created lots of jobs, so the investment on behalf of the City of Arlington will eventually reap its rewards..
BTW it is very nice .. I have already been to a couple events there and going to a Cowboys game Sunday .. woo-hoo !!
My only concern is how many games they will be able to sell out, once the hype has subsided. Already, this past week, there was talk that the game was going to be blacked out against the Giants. If Jerry Jones does not put a Super Bowl team on the field, I honestly don't see who would pay $75 for the cheapest parking spots and an average ticket price of $170.
It is a tool to make money for his team. And it works. Capitaism at work. All you Marxist go home and shut up. Arlington is booming. I heard reports on the radio that the finacial payback is even far better than expected. Even during a recession. I refuse the Democratic ideal of our new Cap and Trade mud huts without electricity and then give the money to the UN. Go Jerry Jones! Let us enjoy life and be Americans. Self hating is for Democrats.
New Stadium...BIG deal...ever heard of an upgrade? thats all it is...who gives a RIP..If ya got the $$$ TEAR IT UP!!!!
The stadium is more for the NFL and their corporate mentality the Cowboys are along for the ride, One thing the Dallas name should be dropped since they havent played in that city since 1971 and the city must be wondering why the Cowboys did not rename themselves the Texas Cowboys they dont represent Dallas only the NFL and the media forget to mention it.
Providing Vick, the "dog killing" criminal and the rest of the criminal class of the NFL with a place to earn their multi-millions shows the total lack of class and character of the NFL owners like Jones, Lurie, Rooney and their ilk.
I wonder if the Arlington citizens would fall for the Jones lies if they had a chance to vote on the project again?
