It has no evidence to support the claims of global warming. That why they now call it climate change. I know that there are some senators from the Kyoto vote that are still around. All the things that were said to be coming. Have never come true. Just after Katrina. They said that the next year. Would be the worst ever. They were wrong.

Wow, you are really sticking your head in the sand if you believe the Fox "News" bobble heads. Do you really think we can continue to pump millions of tons of carbon dioxide and many worse gases into the air and not have an effect on global climate? There is absolutely no debate among serious scientists about the long term impact on global averages (you can't take a one year trend!). Future generations will pay many multiples more in cost because of the years of neglect of the environment under the Bush administration than they will for the budget deficit we are running up to recover from the bankrupt Republican fiscal policies.

I fear that too many global warming deniers are in la-la land. Evidence is staring in your face: rising temps, melting Arctic and Antarctic ice, melting glaciers, pest infestations, rising sea levels, receding permafrost, just to name a few. All deniers can do is cast doubt by highlighting a few inconsistencies here and there, which amout to nothing when one considers the sheer complexity of the climate system. For example, the fact that most glaciers are receding does not preclude some to grow. Warmer air carries more moisture and increased precipitations can compensate. Shifting air and oceanic currents can cause regional cooling too. The underlying reality, however, is that the atmosphere (and the oceans) are warming globally, and that is not a good thing for us, because it endangers the ecosystems on whose health we rely. As I said, hard core deniers are too far off their delusions, but for those who care about this issue and are concerned should get their info from serious sources (hint, not Glenn Beck), such as http://www.realclimate.org/.

If you think this is a scam I ask you to what end? Anyone who doesn't believe in it knows nothing of science, and only believes what they want too. You do so at your own risk, It is no different than saying there is no evidence's that smoking causes cancer.

Let's focus on cutting "REAL" pollution! NOT CO2!! It is a known fact that plants grow at a rate of 50% faster with CO2 at 1000ppm! Greenhouses pump in CO2 to get this affect. We are at a mere 385ppm. If you look at the past 550 million years we are nearly at our lowest point! During the Cambrian period nearly 530 million years ago, atmospheric CO2 was nearly 7000ppm. You have to understand that mankind wasn't even on the planet yet! Earth still went into an ice age...in fact, it's been in several ice ages since! During the Jurassic period CO2 levels were between 1200 and 2200 ppm. Cutting CO2 is not about CO2...it's about taxation! The IPCC projection chart created in 1998 (that can no longer be found...but I have a copy) shows we are 3/4 of a degree celcius COOLER than their chart states we should be! CO2 has continued to rise....the temperature has declined! Our current global termperature is the same as it was in 1940! Solar cycle 24 has refused to get going. Solar cycle 24 should have started in late 2007 or early 2008. Solar activity has remained very low and we are nearing the end of 2009. Solar scientists are beginning to predict another Dalton Minimum. I'm stating facts people!! Do the research...find out for yourself...I encourage you! Lets rid the planet of REAL pollution.....not vital to life gases! The gov't is encouraging the creation of hydrogen powered cars which emit clean water vapor. Water vapor is the WORST greenhouse gas by far! If this was really about keeping the planet from warming, then hydrogen fueled cars is something we would be avoiding! I'm all for hydrogen powered cars I know that the warming effect from their emissions would have minimal temperature effect even with millions on the road...they know it too...but you have to question the real motivations of the gov't. With the knowledge I have accumulated over the years of research and with the knowledge I know they have...this all comes down to MONEY!!

Great comment and I agree but it will not happen as they (ILLEGALS) are viewed as DEMOCRATIC voters or future ACORN volunteers!

And how would that reduce global emissions? It does not matter where CO2 is emitted. The US, China, Mexico... doesn't make a difference. Once in the air, every molecule of CO2 helps prevent some of the heat radiated by the earth to escape into space, and contributes to warming. For hundred of years.

China is bringing on line one coal fired power plant a week and will do so for decades by their own account. Nothing we do will make the slightest difference since they already told Obama to take a hike when he suggested CO2 cuts, (as did India).

If CO2 is the culprit that the fear mongers say it is, we are toast because China and India will dwarf the entire rest of the world and short of triggering a nuclear winter, there is nothing we can do about it, particularly with such a weak president.

@Valhalla Phil: China and India's emissions will keep rising for a while, but let's not forget that they are developing and their emissions per capita are still far below ours. That our nation of 300 million people is on par (with regards to emissions) with a nation of 1.3 billion is nothing to brag about. There is evidence that China's attitude is changing though, and their emissions will probably peak somewhere around 2030. Instead of using them as an excuse for doing nothing, we should use this as an opportunity to set the stage and dominate the clean energy industry. Instead, I fear that Europe, Japan, and even China (as evidenced by recent news headlines) are beating us to the punch.

are u suggesting not cutting greenhouse gases because it will hurt our economy? what exactly do you think the toll on the economy will be if green house gases continue to build up given that global warming is true.

The really stupid thing is that if we didn't drive our industries over seas the world would be less polluted, since even relaxed laws in our country would be better than basically no laws in China, Mexico, etc. With bribery etc. rampant in both countries, no matter what they say, the job will get done at the least possible cost, regardless of environmental impact.
