Tebow played in the best league on the best College football team!!! Ingram is good, but doesn't even have 20 TD's. Suh - not enough quality teams to see if he is the real deal. So McCoy or Tebow are the only two choices. Tebow was able to get the numbers he has despite a very poor offensive coordinator in Addazio. Arguments can be made for McCoy as well.
You know what is telling. I have seen Texas fans all over these posts saying that while they would love to see Colt McCoy win, they believe Suh is the best player this year in college football. My hat is off to a bunch of classy Texas fans ... and btw, I am not a Texas fan.
SUH is the outstanding play of the year...no question about that. Even his other Candidates agree that SUH deserves this Trophy. This is for the BEST player and he Definately showed that through out the year.
If the Heisman trophy is for the best football player then Ndamukong Suh should receive the trophy hands down. How ever I know that it's a Quarterback or runing back that will prevail. What a shame!!!
Had anyone even heard of Ndamukong Suh before last week? Gerhart is hard-nosed and clearly the heart of a better-than-expected Standford team? He's got the stats and the highlights to back up a heisman worthy season. And I can spell his first name. Winner right there.
I agree Polego. This year Shu is the best player in college football and should win the Heisman. As much as I would like to see Colt win, I don't think he is the BEST this year. The Heisman is supposed to go to the BEST college player for that year, not for what they have done in past years or how good of a pro-player they might make later on. What player has done more for their team this year. All Nebraska had this year was an outstanding defense and Suh was the main part of that defense. Without him, Nebraska would have lost moe games. Now sure if Texas would have gone undefeated if Colt had gotten hurt and out for a few games. Alabama would have won without Ingram but don't know about Stanford without Gerhart.
Not only is Suh the best player in college football this year, but probably sits on a very short list of the best defensive lineman ever at the college level.
Everyone else on the heisman list (save Tebow) is just "so-so" compared to a myriad of others at their positions and nothing compared to those that have come before.
The ratings as they should be
1) Suh
2) Ingraham (given schedule and stats)
3) Tebow (given schedule and stats and not no. 1 on the list because he has it already)
4) Gerhart
5) McCoy (why is he even on this list with Texas's cream puff joke of a schedule and BARELY beating the only 2 real teams they played)
Always confusing with these awards because you don't know if you're voting for the best player or the most valuable player because they are not always the same person. I tend to graviate towards the guy who stars on one of the best teams in the country because of the pressure to excel week after week to keep your team undefeated and in the hunt for the big prize. In that case it's Alabama's Ingram and he gets my vote. However, if you saw the Texas-Nebraska last Saturday you got to see an absolute beast playing defense for Nebraska who exhibited skills that clearly set him apart from everyone else. Ndamukong Suh is clearly the best player in college football but he plays on a team that doesn't have an offense. It's been a long time since I've seen a defensive lineman dominate a game the way Suh did last Saturday against the Longhorns. If the Cornhuskers were 12-1 or 13-0 and competing for the top prize in college football Suh would be my choice for the Heisman. Nebraska barely cracked the top 25 and Alabama went undefeated and is the consensus #1 team. Ingram gets the Heisman.
It isn't pick the best player from the best team, it is 'Who is the most outstanding player in college football?' You can't look at the top teams in Div-I and say, ok who are the ones making the plays on these teams, you have to look at all the teams- good and not so good- and say who is the best out of everyone.
Sure Nebraska hasn't had a stellar season that they have been known for in the past, but over the past 2 seasons they have come a long way. Not to mention with the lack of a consistent offense only one opponent has managed to score more than 21 points against Nebraska, and that is due to Ndamukong Suh and Jared Crick. Without them Nebraska would have gone nowhere fast.
Suh is the best in the country because he dominates the field, and can handle anything thrown at him. There were teams that had two men against him and he still managed to make the plays, what other candidate has consistently done that this season?
Once again, it is not a career award. And if you mean McCoy has meant more to his team by throwing 3 picks and almost losing the Big XII Championship Game, you are correct.
Colt worht more to his team? Of the candidates being considered Colt is the MOST replaceable person for their team. Wow.
Did you not see the schedule Texas had this year? Did you not see Texas barely (very biased officiating aside) the only 2 half-worthy opponents they faced? Did you not see Texas barely beat a third, un-worthy opponent.
No worries... The truth cometh and it cometh on December 7... I don't see any way in hell Texas can hold a stick to Alabama. Even with Tebow, Suh, and Gerhart playing for them.
Ingram and Tebow are the only 2 who even play for a real football team. Stanford had 1 lucky game and Nebraska played a very sloppy game against a Texas team as mediocre as themselves.
So out of the only 2 valid choices, Tebow is a selfish prick who only knows how to call his own number which means Ingram CLEARLY deserves to win.
What are you talking about? The only two real teams? I agree that Tebow does not deserve to win, but clearly Nebraska has had the best season in a half dozen or so because of Suh. By the way, any QB can call his number anytime he wants however, none of them have done what Tebow has done in his career ever! He doesn't call his own number because he can, it is because his coach and his team want it that way. Wake up. The best player in College is Suh, without a doubt.
Apparently you don't know anything about Tebow to call him a selfish _________. He is one of the most compassionate guys you will ever know and there is nothing selfish about him - not one bone in that guy's body is selfish. His parents are missionaries - he travels all over to help people - visits prisons to talk to the inmates about changing their lives - believing in God - and so much more. He isn't a "me" kind of person at all. At the end of the day football is just a game - and that is exactly what he said the other night at some award ceremony. He said that what is important is how you live your life and who is watching over your life. So you need to get a clue before you start calling someone names.
Thomas012, The Huskers are literally 3 PLAYS from 12-1 right now. Lost 3 games by a total of 4 points. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. You should expand your horizons and get out of the south once in a while, you may actually learn something.
SableGirl - you are right on the mark about Tebow. However, we have to remember that we are dealing with delicate male egos when it comes to the other posters. They are all couch potato quarterback wannabes who would run away like little girls if they ever had to face the opponents that Tebow has faced. Their jealousy prevents them from recognizing a great quarterback on the consistently best team in the country. Sorry that you can't all be Tebow/Gator fans, but that honor is reserved only for a select few.
I like Suh. I've never seen a defensive player dominate like him.
I've seen offensive players take over a game, but never a D player until this year.
Some pretty good talent across the board, but to me, the D player stands out this time. Problem is...the Heisman trophy is carrying a ball, so are the judges predisposed to select an O player. Probably so.
Tebow is a selfish prick? Seriously, you don't know the dude and obviously know nothing about him.
Suh was amazing in the game vs Texas and Ingram had a phenomenal year. Either would be a good choice, but I would bet it will be Ingram as Suh's a defensive player on a not so great Nebraska team while Ingram is an offensive player playing for the Championship.
Ingram not as good as Gerhart? Are you serious? Gerhart is a good running back and no doubt he has had an impressive year. But Ingram is the reason why Alabama is undefeated going into the title game (besides a smothering defense). Without the running game, Bama's passing game wouldn't hold up. Ingram wins my vote. Gerhart second.
Easily Suh for my vote but most likely Ingram for the votes that matter. Either way, it is an honor to be in the top 5. I have watched Suh play with tenacity and humility. No bragging or cockiness...he has my utmost respect regardless of whether he wins or not. I am looking forward to hearing "SUUUUHHHH" from the pro crowds...hopefully for years to come.
A wonderful man from a great family. Thank you Ndomukong for for being a great role model for not only Nebraska kids but for people everywhere! Good Luck!
As a Texas fan, I agree with you. Suh is the best player I saw this year. He is so quick and powerful that even two 300 lbs Texas offensive linemen could not contain him. His humility and grace are traits of a champion. It was too bad he played for a very poor Nebraska team. If Nebraska had even a mediocre offense, Texas would have lost.
Right on-- SUH has been amazing for years. People may not have heard about him until this year, but that's because Nebraska's team has been in the tank. Anyone who has watched SUH play recognizes what a superstar he is.
Offensive MVP in the SEC????? Mark Ingram. Best running back in the SEC??? Mark Ingram. Best Conference???? SEC Now, who do you think should win the Heisman????
who did Alabama lose to last year, Utah, Texas got screwd last year amd McCoy as well, shame we can't decide after the bowls, remember Vince Young's beating of Bushes team in the Rose Bowl............
Ask Colt who causes him to wet his pants. Try running Ingram through Suh for his reaction. Let the O line of Florida try and keep Sir Tebow from taking a knee, to pray, against this man called Suh. True that the Heisman is always given to he most popular player playing in the most populous regions of the U.S. but is shouldn't be a popularity contest. It should be a considerate choice of a single player and what he has done on the field.
Who had heard of Suh prior to the last two weeks? When I think about the Heisman, I think it goes to the player that his team would miss if for some reason he no longer was able to play(injury?). That player would also have to have stats that show him at the top of the field for his position and the team would have had to have had a good year. So,,, my vote would be for Colt McCoy with out a doubt.
Every sportscaster and news outlet in the country has done an article on him. And this has been going on every single week the whole season. Colt McCoy showed how good he was in the Big XII CG and Suh did the same. It would be a disgrace to the award if McCoy won it after that.
McCoy has played no one this year! Anyone can muster up stats when you play a cupcake schedule. Suh gets my vote, he is (hands down) the best "PLAYER" in the league this year. My second place vote would go to Toby Gerhart.
Get real Gator56. The best team in the best league is clearly the Crimson Tide. Who would vote for a crying loser? Despite that, Suh gets my vote. I've seen him enough to know he's the real deal.
Let's see - the "crying loser" and his team won 22 straight - won 2 BCS championships - the "crying loser" trounced Herschel Walker's record for rushing touchdowns - plus the "crying loser" already won a Heisman in 2007 and has been nominated 3 times total which is a record - so maybe you should think before you type - because clearly you have no clue about "reason" - nor do you pay any attention to stats - as Tebow's stats are awesome. So what if he's emotional??? Who cares???? He has so much more going for him than Colt McCoy - who can hardly utter a coherent sentence. He has class and brains - something Colt clearly does not.
trounced Herschel Walker's record for rushing touchdowns
And it took him a whole year more to get past Herschel. You DO realize that don't you little girl? See, if you knew math at all.... Herschel's average of 16 per year would have put him at 64 TD's after four years. That's 10 more than Teboohoohoo's.
Hands wiping away the tears, maybe. But maybe you're right about Teboohoohoo being the best college football. But he's not the best college football player.
Sorry Sherry, just couldn't resist jumping on that. I really do know what you meant. I still disagree, but I respect you for standing by your crying man.
And you know, he might not be so despised outside of Florida if not for the media carrying on so. I mean damn! The sports announcers and writers need to get real. He's selfish and often makes poor decisions in an effort to enhance his own numbers.
Tim Tebow is well respected everywhere - try reading about him - or listening to sports people - and stop focusing on one incident - his tears were not from losing - I cry when I'm mad - and maybe he was just frustrated by the day's events - plus he was hardly on the field long enough to get things going like he always does - the Gator defense who was ranked #1 the entire season just fell apart - things happen - that doesn't make someone a cry baby or a "Teboohoohoo" . Fortunately, Tebow doesn't pay attention to morons like you - he knows exactly who he is - and where he's going. He is hugely admired and respected. There isn't a selfish bone in Tim Tebow's body. So go whine some more in your beer ScubaGolfJim. Not only is Tebow an outstanding athlete - he just received the outstanding scholar award - what a combination. Why is it people enjoy knocking someone - especially when the person doing the knocking is most likely just a has been or a wannabe who could never come close to what the person they are knocking has accomplished.
BTW, I don't whine in my beer, I don't drink it. I prefer Crown Royal, and I don't whine in it either.
And if you'd learn to actually read, you know, when you can actually comprehend a statement... reread this one...
And you know, he might not be so despised outside of Florida if not for the media carrying on so. I mean damn! The sports announcers and writers need to get real. He's selfish and often makes poor decisions in an effort to enhance his own numbers.
That's about how much he is despised outside of Florida fans by actual people, not the media, which is all to which you refer. I'm more proud of my service to, and actions in honor of, my country than crybaby will ever be able to obtain in his lifetime.
Teboohoohoo? He's a blowhard. End of story, moronic gatorade whiner.
I beg to differ on Tebow playing the toughest schedule.
Hmmm lets take a looks.
Ingram, ALA - Alabama SOS #4
Tebow, FLA - Florida SOS #8
Suh, NEB - Nebraska SOS #47
Gerhart, Stan - Stanford SOS #64
McCoy, Tex - Texas SOS #30
So to me if you want to base it on toughest schedule then it has to go to Ingram not Tebow considering Tebow was not as good as Ingram in the SEC Title game.
If the Heisman Trophy is truly given to the BEST PLAYER in college football, it's a no-brainer, Suh rules! They are all fine players, Ndamukong is a great, great college football player. No contest.
Anybody but Ingram - I dont know why he is on the list. Put him on a team with an average line and he would be what he really is - average. You take somebody like Barry Sanders or Earl Campbell - they were great with any line because they WERE great.
Its like Sam Bradford last year - this year he gets hurt and his backup plays extremely well - makes you realize that it wasnt just Bradford, it was just as much the players around him. Great players around you does not qualify you for the Heisman. You have to be great on your own and Ingram isnt
Best player on best team. Helped to ensure Saint Tebow doesn't join the Archie Griffen club.
Tebow played in the best league on the best College football team!!! Ingram is good, but doesn't even have 20 TD's. Suh - not enough quality teams to see if he is the real deal. TEBOW
Teboohoohoo? Nah!

#1 Suh, The best player in college football this year hands down.
#2 Gerhart, The best running back this year.
#3 Ingram, Good, but his stats are not even as good as Gerhart.
#4 McCoy, A good quarterback, but not great.
#5 Tebow, Why is this guy even on the list?
Had anyone even heard of Ndamukong Suh before last week? Gerhart is hard-nosed and clearly the heart of a better-than-expected Standford team? He's got the stats and the highlights to back up a heisman worthy season. And I can spell his first name. Winner right there.
Mike - Maybe YOU just heard about Suh last week. Offensive lines have been seeing him in their nightmares for 5 years.
You need to get out more. Even Texas said they couldn't handle him.
I agree Polego. This year Shu is the best player in college football and should win the Heisman. As much as I would like to see Colt win, I don't think he is the BEST this year. SUH is not the best player in NCAA. He should not win this award.
Oh, ya, we all forgot. Tebow is the best player in the country. What were we thinking. Newsflash, that guy won't make it in the pros. Get over it.
And neither is Teboohoohoo, and he shouldn't either.
LMAO I love of these Suh haters...
Not only is Suh the best player in college football this year, but probably sits on a very short list of the best defensive lineman ever at the college level.

He's on the list because he is one of the very best!!!!!!!!
pffffffffth!

Since you're obviously a television fan with little to no background knowledge... I'll stop there.

Ingram is just a sophomore. That is scary!

Hands wiping away the tears, maybe. But maybe you're right about Teboohoohoo being the best college football. But he's not the best college football player.

Tebow's a cry baby. The way he wept after losing to the Tide was pitiful. Be a man will you!
Suh is very deserving of the Heisman, but how often does the award go to a defensive player? When pigs fly....
McCoy is a good runner up,then Ingram.
