As a Vikings fan, I'm glad he chose the Jets. Wish him well, of course, but his best days are way behind him.
The Jets have a better blocking scheme and are more committed to the run than the Chargers were, also they are more of a short passing style team. LT can be a situational player and flourish. He doesn't have to get a 1000 yards to help their team and style of play. He can be very effective catching short passes in the flat.
LT is washed up. His video is the only kind of footwork he has left. As a Patriot's fan, I hope to see him in his usual post-season pose; sulking on the bench as his over-rated team is getting blown out.
LOL Pat fans crack me up ! If Bill Belicheat signed LT it would be another genius move! Behind the big young & talented NYJ off line he will rebound big time. Oh and welcome back Kris Jenkins, Leon Washington and new def addition Cromartie !
I would have liked to see LT with the Vikes. He is not washed up yet given the right role. 3rd down is perfect. Peterson of the Vikes has lost a few games for them, he always gives up the ball in the most critical of times.
All you peeps who say LT is washed up must have never even played football. NYJ's Offesive line is the best that there is. My grandmama could get 1000 yards behind that O-line. The Chargers chose Rivers over LT and they got rid of Marty Schotenhiemer, who is a run first type of coach. Then after that, they got rid of Lorenzo Neal, only the best blocking Full Back in the leauge. Then got rid of our run blocking O-linemen. Drafted Louis Vasquez who never even played on a run blocking team in college. I was a die hard Charger fan, now I'm just a dead fan that died hard. Chargers don't want to win, they just want to look good trying. Go LT and Cromarite...I know the both of them will do it up BIG!!
I agree with you. Put A Smith on a boat with no motor headed west and let him go. He has done nothing but sold the Chargers out. Tells you IQ when you fire a winner and hire a looser...
Ummm... Don't even know where to start. Let's see:
"NYJ's Offesive line is the best that there is" Hmmm, maybe. Their stats show they are a great run blocking group, (the Bolts, not so much) so that part's working for you. They were also 23rd in the NFL in Sacks-Per-Attempt, (that awful Chargers' line?: 5th), 20th in Total yards (despite their run totals), & 17th in scoring. So, in review I'll give you "NYJ's Offesive line is the best that there is" at run blocking, at least. I wouldn't give 'em a plugged nickel for their passing game, which, I have heard, is the way to go these days in the NFL. Oh, wait, I'm forgetting all those run first teams who've won the SB recently, like.... never mind.
L. Neal "Best blocking FB in the leauge?" Guess that's why the Ravens cut him after 1 season, where he took 25% of their FB snaps, & the RAIDERS cut him in preseason. Superstar! All 32 teams are so stupid they left the "best FB in the leauge" sit out the entire season. But they "must have never even played football", oh well, we can't all be the well-known superstar football player that you are, oh legendary Novacane. And you're right getting rid of Schotty was a bad decision, after all the other 31 teams have been beating down his door the last three years, haven't they. Again, they "must have never even played football". You know those 31 teams (including the Jets) who collectively decided LT is nothing more than a backup RB at this point. But "they must never have played football"
Louis Vasquez, played at Texas Tech, it's true, but he played well enough to make the NFL's All-Rookie first-team, as I'm sure you know as a "die-hard Charger fan". Oh, and Mike Goff, the "run-blocking O-Lineman" who Vasquez replaced? Cut by the mighty Chiefs after one season. I know of no other "run blocking o-lineman" they got rid of, unless you mean the drug abuser Shane Olivea, who lasted all of half-a-preseason with the Giants, or Roman Oben (again out of the league) but of course, i'm not the "Die-hard Charger fan" some people claim to be. As a die-hard, I'm also sure you're aware "Cromarite" is one of those self absorbed players LT felt the need to critique after the season, right? As a "Die-hard" you must have seen all those games (Jets in the Playoffs?) where "Cromarite" pretended to be a matador on RB's, by HIS OWN ADMISSION (see 1st Jets interviews), right?
"Chargers don't want to win, they just want to look good trying" This is literally amongst the stupidest comments I've ever read on a football board. Care to back that up with any facts? Here's a couple: The Chargers have won 5 of 6 AFC West titles, going 67-31 in the process. But I'm sure they purposely lost those playoff games, because of course, "Chargers don't want to win, they just want to look good trying". Quite a skill, to excel during the season & then purposefully lose in the post-season. Very clever. Here I had thought they played crappy games. I wonder, were Indy fans this stupid before they finally got over the hump? Or is this curse of whiny bandwagoners all ours?

If this run of 5 out of 6 playoff trips got you to quit, you NEVER would have been man enough to suffer through the years of Ryan Leaf, not to mention, Whelihan, Tolliver and co... I suspect what you are is a Bandwagon Charger fan who jumped on board the moment they got good, and is now crying like all the other sorry bandwagon fans when things don't go your way. Die-hards suffer through thick and thin. NOTHING breaks a die-hard. Ask all those Red Sox fans who waited 80+ years. I suffered through the Holy Roller, the minus 50 degree AFC Championship loss, the crushing the 9ers put on the Bolts in the SB, Leaf, 1-15, Marty's TWO Charger home-game playoff melt-downs, (remember those, Marty Lovers?), LT missing playoff games, twice, Kaeding's Playoff kicking & "Cromarite's" excellent tackle of Shonn Greene. Not to mention a town full of bandwagoning, psuedo-fans who discover SD's teams whenever they happen to do well. Die-hards endure, they last through the decades as GMs, coaches, & yes, legendary players, all come and go. I will NEVER, ever stop loving my team. I will even learn to deal with Norv as coach, by God, for I am a die-hard. Your team is your team, period. Just because of a couple of mistakes (By your perception - or mine, for that matter) by management, now you're through? Didn't die very hard at all, if you ask me...
I think he will flourish....it's amazing what a good o-line can do for rb's, qb's and receivers.....If I paid someone 5.2 million you can best believe it would not be as a situational back........hell that's what the 6th rd of the draft is for........GO LT

I am concerned as a Pats fan that the AFC east is always getting tougher and the Jets and Miami look good this year. LT is the kind of player that could make an impact after an injury to a key guy, its a good move for depth I wish he was in the NFC
Too old. Too banged up. Too bad he isn't what he was. The Chargers know what is left in the tank and that is why they said bye-bye. Waste of money but nice news story.
Get real people - we know LT to be a great RB and he has years ahead of him. He is athletic, dedicated and he will win a ring which he deserves. The Chargers will never be the same without him. I wish LT all the best, the SD community will certainly miss him! YOU GO LT!!!!! :)
However many yards LT will rush for with the Jets the answer is, "Not enough for the Jets to win the Lombardi Trophy. "
