The folks that found it rediculous need to ask themselves if they would answer the same way had Maria Sharapova worn the same outfit. Some folks are selectively offended. Madonna and Brittney kissing was exciting TV for many, but the gay singer from American idol kissing his fellow male bandmember caused an uproar. Janet Jackson's nipple, exposed for all of a second, sent everyone running for their therapists.
STFU with the race card. Williams and Sharapova are both annoying, and not necessarily because of their fashion sense, or lack thereof. It's the screaming that both of them do on court, that is offensive. I think the sport should stifle any player that makes so much noise that it detracts from the play. They're both guilty.

Tennis is called a gentleman's game and there is a reason for that. It is not only how it is played, but also how player's dressed and how they behaved. I have been watching tennis for the last 30 years and i have never seen a tennis player dress so bad as Venus in the French open. The Williams sister's were the first to wear skimpy dresses and it is disgusting. I would have said the same if Maris Sharapova dressed the same way. The problem is that if people start complaining about how the Williams sisters dress, they call it racism. Disgusting.
So it's OK for white women to wear white underwear but not OK for black women to wear black underwear? I saw the pictures and didn't see what all the fuse was about?

I think the outfit was completely inappropriate. What baffles me is why on earth the tennis authorities allow this mess to continue. I watch tennis to admire the skills of the athletes - not what they wear. How unfortunate that for this player, her amazing skills are not enough - she must seek even more attention by dressing so tackily.

Racism is alive and well in the USA. That's explains the venomous tone of the criticsm. If Sharpova wore this, it would be all the rage. I had to explain to my twin 10 yr old daughters that she actually was wearing underwear. That outfit has no place in womens tennis. If she wants to wear that kind of stuff, maybe she should be dancing around a pole. So much for family entertainment!!1
