#2 - Fri Nov 19, 2010 4:16 PM ESTEven the Hollywood bowl that is outside consumes a large amount of energy for lights, etc. You have to take into account parking lot gates and lights, ticket booths, the endless communication network and computers drawing power that make the concerts run smoothly, event stadium lighting. Even modern pyrotechnics are not just a simple lighting of the fuse anymore. Needing countless servers, computers,and generators to make sure it all goes off in sync with the music. Which many concerts both modern music and symphony do use, such as 4th July and other firework symphony concerts. love them both as much as other just stating a point that even things that seem "green" are not always so green as you think. Ive been doing work with Surf Rider's "Rise Above Plastic" program and sadly we see a lot of the only thing green in going "green" at this stage in the game is money.
Think about it, that plastic canoe, or that bike you ride to work to save the planet. Lets not forget the energy and resource first off to find the metal for the bike(even recycled old metal takes up good amount power to come back to usable form)and petroleum for the plastics. Then the countless amounts energy and green house gases given off to develop, create, and countless hours spent shipping that bike to you across oceans an roads.
Is everyone going to WALK to get there or will there be hypocracy in the parking lot?
