Washington State will not accept a certificate of live birth if you are applying for an enhanced drivers license, you have to present a certified birth certificate.
A Certificate of Live Birth is certified. Mine is. That's why it says "Certificate" on it and has a raised seal.

Do you not get the concept? Hawaii calls its Birth Certificate: "Certificate of Live Birth". The laws of this nation are VERY specific. If the U.S. constitution does NOT explicitly cover something, then, the states have the right to create their own laws. Since the constitution has no requirement for birth certificate forms, it is a state matter. Hawaii chose to call theirs a "Certificate of Live Birth". If you don't like it, move to Iran. I hear their laws are very explicit so you will never have to worry about confusion like this.
This has never been an issue in my mind because his mother was a US citizen, therefore he is as well regardless of where the dirt he was born over is located.
I am interested in why he didn't release it sooner though. After reviewing the document the only thing that really stands out is the 18 year old mother 25 year old father. This would be a much bigger deal now, assuming that his mother was only 17 when she got pregnant, but I don't think the legal age of consent was 18 in the 1960s. Any other thoughts?
If he had taken his own words to heart and been more transparent about it, it would never have been an issue. The average citizen has to show proof of who they are all the time, yet the obama didn't till now? I'm sorry but yes it is important that we verify every presidential candidate for eligibility to run for president. I never thought that he wasn't born in the US, but the rules are the rules and all that effort to not abide by them is worrying!

that's ridiculous . It took me a while to get my real certificate too. they don't give out the real ones in Wisconsin. They give you a copy or a little short form saying a real one is on file. I think the president didn't think it would be such an issue. He provided what the state said was adequate until this got so blown out of porportion. They don't like to give you the real copy that's why so many people had gone to the archives just to look at it.

Not all states use a raised seal - and even if they did, it wouldn't have shown on a photocopy. Hawaii obviously uses a stamp to certify that its true - and as you can see, they stamped it and signed the photocopy certifying it as a valid copy. Obama could actually use this stupid photocopy to get his passport renewed if he wanted to, with that signature on it.
Talk about idiots... Who, in his right mind, spends millions of dollars to hide his past if he has nothing to hide?

Wanted to respond to the people who posted that McCain was not born on US soil. He was born on a military base and that is considered US soil. If you don't like that, change the law. In the meantime, he is considered a natural born US citizen.

Releasing the birth certificate now is the answer. By polls numbers there was an perceived advantage to keep it hidden until now. Obama's poll numbers were showing him losing ground on the issue in too great of numbers to leave the question open. I think it was one of a number of things he would like to have released in say, October of 2012 to make detractors look really bad and propel him to a second term.

Birthers are like role-players who get so involved in their own group fantasy that they lose touch with reality.
They remind me of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who as he got older, became more and more engrossed with mediums and 'supernatural' occurences. He became so overwhelmingly convinced of such things, that he bought hook-line-sinker just about any nonsense, including obvious hoaxes and fakes - and would write lengthy papers defending them. He even had a spat with Houdini who exposed many fake mediums, and later claimed that Houdini must have had supernatural powers even haha.
Also don't forget that group of EVP guys who told the world that they came into contact with another dimension, and basically described the exact plot of the "Riverworld" series. The group is still completely self-convinced of the legitimacy of their fantasy.

I did some research on the information presented. It is valid. Did any of you see the present neighborhood where Barack Obama's parents lived when he was born. It's not a bad looking neighborhood; the streets are built much better there than many places in this nation. But it is sure a long way from the Hospital that he was born in. Yet, that hospital is a well recognized hospital.
the real problem here is easy to see if anyone bothers to see it. Republicans are still upset over losing the election for president the last time..and so far..they have not shown real reason for any of them to be elected now. Why? What other president in history has faced such a public demand for more "proof" than is required by law? I've seen common sense posts over and over who have said that even if he did release a copy of the original certificate from the archive, the birthers would still refuse to believe it.
So now that Trump has re-ignited the issue, President Obama went to the extrordinary effort to somehow override Hawaii law and get a certified copy of the original. And many of the posters here still claim they somehow "know" it's a forgery. I saw one post where the person actually stated that birth certificates of other people born around that time should be released so the typewriter used could be compared.
I wasn't sure before, but now I'm convinced. This has nothing to do with President Obama's location of birth. It's simply that people hate him so much they will do anything they can to marginalize him. Instead of accepting that a man who looks and sounds different from them can be our nation's leader, they use this crap to convince themselves that he's not really our legitimate president. For federal employment, a valid US passport can be used as proof of birth, since it takes a birth certificate to get one. Understand?

A "CoB" is adequate actually, do you know that states have different names for such documents? Birth Certificate, Cert of Live Birth, Cert of Birth, Birth Document, etc. It varies, but basically is the same document so long as it is officially certified (raised seal or signature etc).

I do not see racism in this at all. I never even thought about where Obama was born when he first came to public light. However, when the question was asked, there was never an appropriate response, and I still do not know why. So now I do have some doubts. Doubts that will probably never be answered. The tea party did not raise those doubts for me, and neither did the Repubs or Democrats. The doubt was ushered in by Obama himself. I find it extremely perplexing as to why a person would not show the proper form of identification needed for the moment. So, maybe somebody here might offer an answer to me without all the typical hate and attacking party lines. If Obama had the long form from day one, why did he create such a dividing issue that he could've easily laid to rest as he has finally consented to do?

If someone asked you to show them your birth certificate, would you? Probably not. If someone asked me, I'd tell them to get lost. Technically McCain should also have a long form from the US. His certificate was the one issued in Panama. His parents should have come to the US with the Panama BC and a notorized affidavit turning down his right to be a citizen of Panama.
There are a number of citizens on the INS deport process list because their parents did not follow this necessary procedure to make them officially US Citizens.

@Lisa- I first questioned where he was born after hearing in the news that it was asked for and never provided and by a lawsuit asking for it. I never heard of it being available, I never saw it online until today. The only reason that this is now a doubt for me is that it took over two years to be finally shown the form. It was not clarified again and again since this is the first time the long form which has signed signatures of witnessing the birth was ever provided And btw, I did ask for a civil response, why do some of you continually attack even when you are being invited to answer a civil question? I WAS born in Hawaii, in 1968, I have THE ORIGINAL "certificate of live birth", it has a raised seal and I was born at Tripler Army Navy hospital in Honolulu. My birth certificate is black with white type. When I have to show it I show the real one. When I have to submit it to someone they get a copy. The copy DOES NOT have a raised seal, and is on white paper. Its still an official copy, and has been accepted at every school/job/legal event I have ever had. Really people. Theres SO MANY MORE important issues to be discussed.

I will never believe it because I saw an interview with his maternal grandmother (the one who raised him) when he first announced he was running for president the last time on CNN. She stated that he was born in Kenya, near where his biological father lived. His mother brought him to Hawaii close to 3 weeks later and filed his birth with the officals in Hawaii. He is considered a U.S. Citizen (as well as a Kenyan Citizen) because his mother is a U.S. citizen, but he is not natural born to the United States.....his grandmother's words not mine!
That was not his maternal grandmother, it was his step-grandmother. Second, the whole story was vetted and the truth is that the translator made that statement, incorrectly.

The Army wanted a BC, photo ID, SS card, and a parents signature. 15 years later I need a photo ID, proof of SSN, and two confirmations of Address. Military ID doesn't cut it for either photo ID or SSN. Whereas a W-2 or a SS card does?!? Neither has a photo and both can be easily forged.
