And what would have happened if a Terrorist had gotten a hold of the photo first, and used it to blackmail Weiner. He can't be trusted and should be forced to resign immediately.
That's a stretch. Too much of a stretch for me. It reminds me of young siblings ratting each other out and upping the ante when they don't the response they anticipate.
How do you force someone to resign? Resignation is not forced. Fired yes, but there are no laws in force to accommodate this.
Def: Liberal, someone so open minded that their mind actually falls out!
Hahahaha. He would have planted a bomb in Time square rather than have his bare chested photo shown by a terrorist. Are you clinically insane. Hahahahahaha.
I asked this on another thread but no one seems to be able to address the question there. Maybe someone here can clear things up.
Ok,
So here's Mr. Weiner, who's been accused of nothing more than bad taste and judgement and those on the right are screaming that he should immediately resign from office. The photos and conversations were private and limited to only those that were willingly participating in them. No one is saying that he did anything illegal. Immature, bad taste, poor judgement, sure. But intended to be private.
So where is the outrage that should be directed at Scott Brown. Here's a man who posed for photos at least as graphic, posed for money, and knew these photos would be distributed worldwide, for anyone with the price of a magazine would have access to them. Yet, with this being known in advance of his run for office, republicans still elected him.
Someone help me understand how one is so terrible that there is a push to ruin one mans life, both politically and personally, while the other is at least just forgotten and forgiven and in some cases celebrated. A private mistake versus a commercial venture, with both being pictures of partially clad men.
Anyone care to try to clear this murky difference up for me?
He said he doesn't know the ages of the girls he was twittering and one of the pictures is x-rated, how do you know he didn't break the law?
"The conservative blogger also claimed that he had, in his possession, another "X-rated" photo allegedly from Weiner that he said he wasn't releasing because he hoped "to save (Weiner's) family."
vwterry -
Weiner is a Dem Scott Brown is a Republican... that is the difference... for you.
Modeling is a job, being a sleazy perv, who is married no-less, is not exactly a career, unless the Dems are looking for "leadership"
RaisedByWolves, I was with you 100% until you mentioned teabaggers. I am a Republican but leaning tea partier my own reasons and I thought that was a cheap shot.
Anyways....still with you on this...I would like to see more women in leadership, science, and engineering roles. We could use more of their wit in the Science industry where I work. Most of the female physicists and engineers I work with are brilliant.
I Definitely would have taken Hillary over obama.
I think the hypocrisy in America's reactions to these type of issues is hilarious when this country has a 15 Billion dollar a year porn industry.
vwterry, you ask a good question, but the two are not as related as one may think. Both acts are not in good taste and should not be tolerated of a Public official. Similarly to the beauty pageant winners; how many have lost their crowns due to pictures/videos that were discovered? 3 that I can think of. Why? Because once you decide to place yourself into the Public Eye, everything you do is scrutinized. Weiner was elected into a position of leadership and power. He has to be 'better than the next guy', he has a lot of responsibilities on his position. He has a vote on the budget, war, jobs, laws and other sensitive and important issues. He has proven that he has poor judgement. He then tried to lie and make people believe that his Twitter account was hacked and somebody else sent that picture out. If you don't know about accounts and hacking, you maybe inclined to believe this, however if you do know about account security and hacking, then you would have known that he was lying from the beginning. I did! Scott Brown, also made a poor judgement, however he didn't lie and say that the pictures were not of him or that they were stolen from his account. He made a commercial print in a public magazine that is only available to those people that purchase it. He did not send his picture to someone that he thought was of age and thought she wanted it. That is the difference and the best answer I have to your question. I hope it helped.
So you think Brown knew that only women over 18 were going to see his photos? Nude photos that he was paid for, photos that, especially then, would have been considered x-rated.
And Breitbart has a reputation for worrying about the families of the targets of his work. Right.
I have said that I think Mr. Weiner has done wrong. I just think the outrage is a bit one sided when comparing the known circumstances in this story.
As to whether or not he broke the law, that's yet to be determined by law enforcement. Your speculation is just that.
Maybe you can lead me to any posts you have made calling Ensign, the Newt, Sanford, Vitter or any other Republicans that have a history of similar behavior of "being a sleazy perv, who is married no-less" you might gain creditability when apparently calling me out for partisanship.
Honestly, I think the big difference between when a republican does this and when a democrat does is that the republicans spend most of their time thumping their chests insisting they have a monopoly on morality. Usually a republican's fall from grace is immediately after denying someone else their own rights under the guise of moral superiority. So, really, it's the irony that makes it necessary for Republicans to step down.
On a related note, why do we expect politicians to be gods? For a person to be drawn to public life like this, many of them are probably narcissistic sociopaths. They just happen to be good at getting people to do what they (on behalf of their constituents one might assume) want.
I would rather have a flawed person who is brilliant at economics or Heath Care policy than a devout, pious mouthbreather who got in because he (or she) could be bought!
I find it amazing that anyone would defend this liar and sexual predator. Yes boys and girls he is a mature, married man, in a position of power who "followed" college aged girls on twitter and since I have daughters their ages I see him as nothing more than a first degree creep. I don't care how "liberal" you are out there defending him is morally wrong. But then again Clinton was 50 something when he not only pursued 19 year old Monica L. then ruined her life and then lied about it under oath so the history of the Democratic party is full of P.O.S.s
wferry if weenies communications were so limited as you say, how do I know about it on the West Coast? Not so limited.
A terrorist DID get hold of the photo and used it to blackmail Weiner. Your own Mother may become your worst enemy if you persist in actions that disagree with her sensibilities. Allowing such ammo to fall into the hands of an unscrupulous carnivore that wishes nothing more than to devour you rises to the height of stupidity and total lack of self-control.
I've always thought highly of Weiner and often wished I could vote for him in my district. He is now nothing more than the latest member of a group of once promising leaders of men that allowed themselves to be led by that silly thing between their legs. They rest barely a notch above the female conservative talking heads constantly striving to demonstrate they carry a big set denied to them by birth. Go home Anthony and marvel at your physical form in front of a mirror. Your only value has been to show the likes of Bachmann and Palin that a proud penis does not make a powerful leader. They can abandon their false pretenses.
The difference is Wiener did it and lied about it to cover it up. Brown just did it and got paid and never tried to pretend it was anything other than what it was.
Don't care what anyone thinks about posing half nude, fully nude, or even doing porn and being a politician. It was the lying that was the difference. Past behavior is a predictor of future behavior. So if you lie about this stuff to the public, you'll probably lie about other stuff in the future.
It wasn't the pictures. It was the lying by denying that makes Wiener the untrustworthy one. And for the record, I think conservatives stink up Congress with all their two faced lies and garbage every day and wish they would all resign. But in this case, a politician I liked is now no better and has to go.
vwterry
The answer you seek is simple...He lied! Scott Brown did not, a politicians personal life is his/hers, however when you blatantly lie to the public, you are asking to loose you job.
Modeling is a job, being a sleazy perv, who is married no-less, is not exactly a career, unless the Dems are looking for "leadership"
Cut those partisan fine hairs a little closer why don't you... the only real point here is Weiner lied. Then again, most people would in this position.
Honestly, both Brown and Weiner give me the willies! Beefcake and Butthead. What a couple of freaks.
Neither are what I call "respectable."
Wait a sec... you mean politicians lie?!?! I am shocked!
Seriously though, democrat or republican makes no difference. If by now you havent learned to take everything they say with a grain of salt you should not be getting involved with politics or discussions thereof.
The question is not whether or not he lied. It's about whether or not he broke a house rule. If they find he did in fact break a rule of conduct I'm sure he will be dismissed. If not dont vote for him next time around. Simple.
To me it's more the fact that he lied about what he did than the act itself. It means he can't be trusted.
Pirana,
Are you talking about lies in general? It appears that is what you are insinuating. That's a very noble stand if that is truly where you stand. I think now is the time you should begin demanding the resignation of ALL polititians that have lied in say the last 2 years. You know, polititians like Kyl. McConnell, Gregg, Rubio and a cast of hundreds when they said that tax cuts pay for themselves, that the Health Care Reform Bill had a Death Panel provision, or when Brewer in AZ. said there were headless bodies found in the AZ. desert. Or maybe you should concentrate on Allen West, who claimed that he had security clearance above the president.
I'm sure you feel that these examples are somehow different but in reality a lie is a lie.
Your stance was"The answer you seek is simple...He lied! Scott Brown did not, a politicians personal life is his/hers, however when you blatantly lie to the public, you are asking to loose you job.". Be honest with yourself and start your crusade now.
yea well all the people screaming for him to quit, those who are SO disappointed, and Nancy Pelosi - let those of you without sin cast that firs stone. i would venture a guess that everyone in congress and the senate has done similar things .. just didn't get caught.
and while i think this is tasteless and an act of adultery, seems there's a lot of women these days after politicians. what i mean by that is .. it seems there is a Monica Lewinsky syndrome. let's save every email, text, picture, etc and use it to destroy them later. since at least one of the women in question also sent HIM pictures .. let's have those posted all over the media, all over the world.
it takes two to tango, right?
@Victor-1304988 - But then again Clinton was 50 something when he not only pursued 19 year old Monica L. then ruined her life and then lied about it under oath so the history of the Democratic party is full of P.O.S.s
really? did you really just post that? uh .. he didn't pursue Ms. Lewinsky .. she pursued HIM. and don't see where it ruined her life. she was a willing participant and knew EXACTLY what she was doing. she chose to go after a married man. not excusing him .. but don't for a second think that she is innocent.
Stuff like this makes us a laughing stock to the rest of the world. Also, we tell our teenage kids not to do stuff like this and guess what? They see adults do the same thing and even worse its someone in a high office.
We are slowing losing respect and our children are seeing it all. There is no consequence anymore for someone's action. This needs to stop. People in positions like Weiner need to act like a descent human being. Show respect for the office you are elected to serve.
It's about time the bad behavior in D.C. is cleaned from top to bottom and both sides of the house. Once a person enters a public office regardless on what level, they automatically become a glass house, and that is exactly the way it should be. There should never be a private life for them. We elected them to serve us with the highest standards. If that can't be done, then they should be kicked out the door in shame and never given the option to resign, etc. If you can't stand the heat, then stay out of the fire. Even though Weiner does not serve my State, he does make laws that affects all the States. We need more honest hard working persons in Congress and not more corruption and inappropriate behavior with double standards. The same standard should go for Wall Street, sports, and Hollywood. There are too many people out there willing to take a bad jerks job away and try doing a better job with more honesty.
What on earth are all of these right wingers screaming about libs for. This is Dumb-ass politicians disease!
Lets go down the list of Republicans still in office or running after sex scandals WAY WORSE than this.
Larry Craig - Caught trying to get sex in a PUBLIC REST ROOM!
David Vitter- DC MADAM ring a bell!
Newt Gingricht - Cheating on his wife while he was leading the Impeachment charge against Clinton, Can anyone say HYPOCRITE!
Mark Sanford- Argentinian Vacation, He didn't need to resign it was love!
John Ensign- All I can say is WOW, and he didn't resign for what two years. Resigned just before he was impeached.
How about Pete Sessions and the NRCC holding fund raisers in strip clubs in 2010!
Also in 2010, RNC rewarding their best young bucks with a night out at a Hollywood Florida, Lesbian Bondage Club, WOW!
Face it the Repubs are at least as bad as the Dems on this crap!
To all the liberals who are asking/demanding Weiner step down, thank you for expecting more from our leaders. As a staunch conservative, it is what I would expect from anyone in my party who is caught lying under similar circumstances. Notice my issue IS NOT the photos, but the lie and attempt to smear the messenger. I doubt Nancy will find any wrong-doing by Anthony, and whatever may come out of her ETHICS Investigation will result in little more than a slap on the wrist. Thats not to say they won't bring pressure to bear in public, demanding he resign, but behind the scenes, off camera, away from the microphones, the Democrat leadership will be telling him to hang tight till it all blows over.
We elect these a-holes to lead our country, and we pay them to do so. I don't understand why they can't pay attention to BUSINESS (ours, not theirs)!!
He ought to be fired - by majority vote of the taxpayers.
eat crow all of you blind lemmings; you sold out for another liar.
And what would have happened if a Terrorist had gotten a hold of the photo first, and used it to blackmail Weiner. He can't be trusted and should be forced to resign immediately.
Brings back thoughts of the Russian "party girl". I would worry more about what he has contracted to take back to his wife in first person liaisons. Won't be long before those more intimaterelationships start coming out of the woodwork. Did anyone else note the connection to the Clinton's?
My money is on a pending divorce. What woman wishes for others to be involved in foreplay.
If Weiner is forced out, Gingrinch should not be able to run for President.
He was having an actual affair while his wife was dying with cancer.
Heck of a job, Republicon Family Values.
Brandon...wow such passion....So do you agree with the topic of the story or do you just wish to deflect the Clintonian values of the DNC?
When Democrats lie, people don't dies, txmom32.
Try that on for size.
Brandon...a whole lot of people from the Clinton past died, if you care. Then there was they gay guy from Obama's past that died along with many foreign nationals due to his war tactics. But then that probably matters little to you.
Def: Liberal, someone so open minded that their mind actually falls out!
Arent you the short order cook who claims to be some HR big shot who is irritated with people smarter than you?
Yeah - are you really in a position to be poking fun as someone elses intelligence?
With that being said - I hold dem rep's to the same standard I hold repub reps in terms of ethics. He obviously is a dirt bag and should resign. Only after we start holding these people accountable will we begin recovering our governmental integrity.
Brandon...wow such passion....So do you agree with the topic of the story or do you just wish to deflect the Clintonian values of the DNC?
Dont forget the Gingrichian and McCainian values also?
The only difference is the right claims to be morally superior through the bible.
txmom32, you have just fulfilled all of the catastrophically misunderedumcated stereotypes of people in your pro-secessionist state.
I am done interacting with you.
Brandon...you do buy into all the left wing rhetoric don't you. I suppose you just have trouble conversing on a higher level. Sorry you can't discuss on topic.
I think Edwards is a bottom feeder along with many in the DNC. When the story turns to the other camp you will probably moralize. I think standards should be held across the board. Enough with the elitist in the DNC. When you folks start electing regular people then I can send my respects. Until then you will continue to follow as sheep to those who profess to care for you instead of expecting you to care for yourselves. After all your leadership wants you satisfied to get your vote and out of sight when they go to play with the rich and famous.
Honestly can't really hold it against him. Dudes do this all the time, not a big deal.
But, I do feel he showed a lack of respect toward his office by sending the pics and being a general e-perv. He knew what he was doing could prove to be trouble and was against ethical conduct of someone in his position.
Then he lied about it.
The 'right' thing to do is resign. But he knows as well as anyone - that this media-frenzy will eventually blow over and people will forget about Weinergate other than an amusing anecdote. His career will go on.
As for the guy wondering where the 'holier than thou' liberals admonishing Weiner are at? - Well, Weiner doesn't really tout a platform based on Christian 'family values' - so it's not as big of a deal as say a part-time anti-gay preacher republican that gets caught diddling dudes.
Let the Weiner keep his seat. I really don't know what I would do if I couldn't occasionally say "Hey! Look at that Weiner!" Seriously this couldn't have happened to a bigger DB. Such strange bed fellows the Left Wing Liberal/Progressive Wack Jobs have. No pun intended. As one put it, oh so well, let the knobs that voted this little creep in can vote the little creep out. After all the people get the government they deserve. His district got what they voted for.
What I find immensely amusing is all the scrambling by the Left Wing Liberal/Progressive Wack Jobs on here trying to play the moral equivalency game when most have forfeited for cheating before they can even start. Let us point to other bad behavior to rationalize other bad behavior. Sorry, doesn't work for me. You can bring up all the politicians from both parties and try and explain away the little prick's actions. Don't care. But hopefully you'll find some solace in that I'm on your side. I'm even going to have shirts made up with his picture on it with the caption "SAVE THE WEINER!!!"
I like Dicks comments but I have to say "Let the weiner go!" As a Conservative-liberal I stand firmly along side those that have a strong desire for men and women of superb moral character to fill the positions of leadership.
A Neo-conservative-liberal is one that is financially conservative but socially liberal. Our beliefs revolve around investing in American schools, higher education, health reform and medicare. If we use our money wisely we can cut taxes and invest in OUR people ( not terrorist) We believe in civil liberties for all people regardless of gender or sexual orientation. WE believe that the government should be FOR the people BY the people. The government should stay out of peoples lives and way....worry less about adults (-over 18) looking at pornography and more about the safety of our food and water. YOu can email me for more details.
I am no moralist.
Weiner's behavior was 'naughty' indeed, but hardly on par with spending campaign funds on his mistress.
He isn't known for touting moralism and 'family values' as a main platform, so I can't really call him a hypocrit (the worst kind of public figure).
There's bad behaviour and then there is BAD BEHAVIOUR.
FYI: I would back a Republican in Weiner's position as well. But unfortunately Republicans have the handicap of being judgmental moralists - so when they show that they are human, it makes them out to be hypocrits.
I don,t think this is a big deal among Democrats , Billi boy is an example , his carrier is not over, this is just a little mistake. However if he resign he will be another TV star, liberals love this king of people.
He should resign for the good of the people, not because he did something illegal, but lied about his dumb, stupid, idiotic pictures, that i expect my 19 yr old son to do.....not someone holding office in the U.S. congress........dam! I LOVE THE MAN!......we are all hypocrites...............Obama/Biden 2012
To answer the question...Liberals know most men think with their zippers. The laugh is those neoconservatives who hear the word, "sex" and go into a orgiastic spasm over it. Face facts. Neocons play at being political virgins and then you find a ton their own doing the hotcha dance whenever they can and not always with the opposite sex.
The point is that Weiner lied. He should resign for no other reason than that one. Weiner can no longer be trusted to be truthful. If he lied about this, what else has he lied about? Aye....there's the rub.
Nancy Pelosi is doing the honorable thing in the face of public criticism of Weiner. She is investigating whether or not a political figure of the Democratic party used government funds or property to carry on this lascivious nonsense.
I just know that when Gingrich pulled his hoochie kooing that Republicans would have been as forthright or for that matter forthcoming. Yeah...right. Republicans tell more lies in a day than Democrats tell in a year. Check out that Texas idiot who got caught in a lie to get a war going with Iraq. Bush was Liar-in-Chief. After all, don't Republicans always find a shill to do their dirty work?
Asking why liberals won't demand the resignation of Weiner when they would certainly demand the resignation of any conservative politician caught doing the same thing, is a perfectly valid question and needs to be answered.
Speaking only for myself here, I want all conservatives out of office anyway. If they give me an easy opening, I'm going to take it. I don't feel the same way about liberal politicians. I have a double-standard and I'm proud of it. So sue me.
If ANY politician was accused of actual criminal wrong-doing, then it's different. My role as an American citizen would then come first, and convicted, criminal representatives are the last thing we need in this country. But if no laws were broken, and any ethical questions are iffy or only personal in nature, then it's back to politics and the double-standard. I can tolerate such behavior out of liberals - once - because of the good they otherwise do. I can't give conservatives the same consideration, because they don't deserve it.
This is to say nothing of the hypocritical position many conservatives find themselves in, when they preach "family values" daily, and then set out on a path to destroy their own families. It's one thing to be a bad boy, but it's quite another to be bad boy after accusing others of EXACTLY the same sort of behavior you have now engaged in yourself.
Bait a trap with poontang and you'll catch a Democrat every time.
Souder, Foley, Gingrich, Sandford and Ensign would disagree with your incredibly silly statement.
They all have R's next to their name in case you couldnt follow.
ewent,
Nancy Pelosi is doing the honorable thing in the face of public criticism of Weiner. She is investigating whether or not a political figure of the Democratic party used government funds or property to carry on this lascivious nonsense.
You just said in your previous paragraph that Weiner should resign for no other reason than he lied. Did Weiner admit to lying about his wiener? Did he not create a circus about his wiener? The honorable thing for Pelosi to do would be to call for his resignation and not tie up congress with this crap and waste even more money. If he doesn't resign then his constituency can vote him out next election.
And I just know that you don't spell Gingrich and Bush as Weiner. Again pointing to other behavior to rationalize other behavior is the last resort of someone that doesn't have the intellectual ability to support a logical argument. From reading post 1.49, and the way you're all over the board, I would think you suffer from a mental illness or you're drunk. Maybe you could shed some light on it?
Brandon...a whole lot of people from the Clinton past died, if you care. Then there was they gay guy from Obama's past that died along with many foreign nationals due to his war tactics. But then that probably matters little to you.
By that disjointed logic thousands of people died due to Bush's war tactics. But then that probably matters very little to you.
Weiner has always been a loud mouthed blow hard; now, he just added another facet to his comedic value. I love the way the liberals are defending Weiner. "B-B-But Gingrich! B-B-But Vitter! George Bush! OH GOD, GEORGE BUSH! REPUBLICANS DO IT, TOO! WAAAHHHH! TEABAGGERS ARE WORSE THAT WEINER! PALIN MADE A MISTAKE!" Please don't stop; the Leftist Laugh-In is absolutely hilarious.
DickCranium...Weiner admitted in yesterday's public speech that he lied. So what's your beef? As for strange bedfellows...how is a president being photographed holding hands with a Saudi Prince not bizarre? Implicating at the very least.
How dare you judge my intellectual ability? Who are you pallie? Einstein? If you are going to go for the jugular with liberals and anyone who disagrees with red staters, how about you look in your own backyard...as anyone with a high intellect like mine would remind you. Bush, the Texas Harvard MBA...and he ends his presidency with a Financial Meltdown he never saw coming in 8 years? Sarah Palin who thinks Longfellow's Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and the entire American Revolution was fought solely so NRA could get a leg up on more gun running?
If stupid is as stupid does, Republicans have no worries. More of them have been caught with illegitimate kids and their pants down then you'll ever admit to. No surprise there. Most Republican men have raisins were testicles should be.
This is what happens when a stupid populace elects crooked, self centered people to represent them in politics!
Weiner has always been a loud mouthed blow hard; now, he just added another facet to his comedic value.

Takes one to know one it seems.
This is what happens when a stupid populace elects crooked, self centered people to represent them in politics!
Who was it that said (paraphrase)'eventually Americans will elect their dream candidate: A complete moron.'?
When it comes to sexual infidelity - well - "Maleness" is a bipartisan platform.
Gee, reading these judgmental posts, I keep hearing Jennie C. Riley singing Harper Valley PTA.
Perhaps everyone is getting different info than I am...but I thought the first photo that this all started over, was sent to a woman who didnt even know Weiner...or why she was receiving the photo.
That ALONE to me is criminal. Its no different than a man standing on a corner with nothing but a trench coat on, flashing women as they drive by.
PLEASE - STOP DEFENDING THIS PERV.
We really, seriously, dont need this trash in our govt. PERIOD. end of story.
MtMike...Unfortunately, these days, we, the people, have less of an influence than the Big Money that put Weiner in his position. They may call them "constituents" but they are more of the Corporate America party.
Breitbart, a conservative exposed Weiner for a reason...Weiner was hoping to run for mayor of Noo Yawk City. So, the armies of neocons with big money were massing against the armies of Noo Yawk liberals and WeinerGate is the result. And all it took was big big big bucks.
vwterry, there is no difference between the two and in finality, the voters are the ones who decide if these people stay in office.
If they haven't broken any congressional rules which cause them to be thrown out of congress, they stay in office unless they voluntarily resign or are voted out of office.
the right thing to do ... would be to resign now ... take his chances with his constituants in 2012
ewent
Now Weiner is a victim of Corporate America. No, he is a victim of his own wrongdoing.
oskar...Where in my post did I say Weiner was a victim of Corporate America? I didn't. Reading comprehension problem. What I posted was that Weiner is part of the Corporate America machine that is steam rolling individual voters in particular and Americans in general.
Unless you live in or near Noo Yawk, you can't know it's political culture. Let me clue you in. If you live in and around Manhattan, you're likely to be liberal, progressive, socialist, a yuppie, a metrosexual or a artsy type. If ever you've been to Noo Yawk City you'd know why this is so. Broadway, Times Square, Wall Street...get it yet? Life in the city is as free and easy as in a tropical paradise. It isn't Savannah, Detroit, Dallas, or New Orleans. It's the most unique populace in the world and the jewel of the USA.
If you live north of the city, you are likely to be conservative like Peter King, the ultra conservative who represents Northern Noo Yawk. However, where the city is teeming with jobs, Rochester, Buffalo and the rest of upstate is virtually jobless.
I think the 'not knowing the girl' story is changing now. That was what he said when he was still lying about being hacked.
1. He was sexting - if a kid does this, they are suspended from school. Why does he get a free pass? What is this saying to the young people of this country?
2. He lied about the sexting. What does that tell you about his integrity? I would be done with him if I were his constituent.
3. He lied by blaming someone on the Conservative side, instead of some nameless person. Don't you think he did this to hurt the Conservatives, to his own benefit?!?
4. There are equally many Democrats who live "below the belt" they just get away with it. Like the Kennedys and Clinton. Why is it OK for a Democrat to be a pig, and not a Republican? As far as I'm concerned, both are equally bad. Party affiliation does not make it OK.
He needs to go.
Ewent
No mistake, I know what is in your anti-conservative liberal mind.
jessica
Perhaps everyone is getting different info than I am...but I thought the first photo that this all started over, was sent to a woman who didnt even know Weiner...or why she was receiving the photo.
yes, your information is different, and incorrect. the photo sent was between weiner and a co-ed from out west who agreed to follow each other on twitter a few months ago. he did not send the photo to some random woman out there on the net. they were twitter friends, and she was a big fan of his. it still is pretty weird, but not as sinister as you make it sound. for all we know, she requested the picture.
Check out that Texas idiot who got caught in a lie to get a war going with Iraq. Bush was Liar-in-Chief.
ewent...you do know that most of the intelligence "lies" about the WMD's in Iraq was furnished by the Clinton administration, long before Bush stepped foot in the White House?
"The cool but so-far not fatal reception from his House colleagues contrasted sharply with the fate that befell fellow New York Rep. Christopher Lee, who sent a shirtless photo of himself to a woman he met on Craigslist. Within a matter of hours of the photo being disclosed, the Republican met with House Speaker John Boehner and resigned."
But of course, Democrats are allowed to be 'sleazy'.
How appropriate that Bill Clinton married them.
Shuklack:"Takes one to know one it seems."
1. You contribute to the making of my point.
2. I know you are, but what am I?
@willowbrook
1. He was sexting - if a kid does this, they are suspended from school. Why does he get a free pass? What is this saying to the young people of this country?
A. He's an adult sexting adults, so it's different. Does it give him a free pass? Not really though.
2. He lied about the sexting. What does that tell you about his integrity? I would be done with him if I were his constituent.
A. Yeah, he's indeed a liar and should have came clean awhile ago. I have no mercy for him on this part.
3. He lied by blaming someone on the Conservative side, instead of some nameless person. Don't you think he did this to hurt the Conservatives, to his own benefit?!?
A. I don't think he picked the name out of the hat - he blamed the guy frontrunning the pictures (who indeed has a reputation for being shady) - convenient lie.
4. There are equally many Democrats who live "below the belt" they just get away with it. Like the Kennedys and Clinton. Why is it OK for a Democrat to be a pig, and not a Republican? As far as I'm concerned, both are equally bad. Party affiliation does not make it OK.
A. Indeed. Human sexuality (and its perversions) is a bipartisan platform. What is NOT equal between Repubs and Dems though is their number of politicians who espouse 'family values' and 'christian moralism.' When Repubs get caught in similar scenarios, they have the extra burden of hypocrisy.
Shuklack:"Takes one to know one it seems."
1. You contribute to the making of my point.
2. I know you are, but what am I?
I was indicating that you are calling someone a 'loud mouthed blow hard' while being a loud mouthed blowhard in your post. In case you didn't notice that or something.
When Repubs get caught in similar scenarios, they have the extra burden of hypocrisy.
word.
that is of their own doing. they do not have to pretend to be holier than thou. i appreciate honesty, myself. weiner has lost my trust, not that he ever had it. i already knew that he was salacious.
$5 will get you 10 that Weiner is still in office on 12/31/11. Behind the curtains the damage control spin machine is running overtime to salvage this perverts career. Unfortunately this will lower the bar yet again. Instead of heightening awareness and giving politicians a wake-up call, this gives them the green light to drop to this level of despicable behavior. The downward spiral continues. Goodbyey America.
So the info was furnished to Bush, in office, long before Bush stepped foot in office? Did they twist Bushs arm and force him to invade and occupy a country? Stop. Just stop. That idiotic conjecture only works with people like yourself.
Try and spin it anyway you want - Bush was given the authority to invade Iraq by congress - which he used quickly and stupidly. Clinton also passed info to Bush about terrorists using planes to blow up buildings - is that Clintons fault too?
And I will short circuit the stupid rebuttal of "Well Clinton had the chance to get bin laden" with the fact that Reagan and Bush Sr furnished weapons to him during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan.
Any other smart comments?
People, the only thing that really matters is he LIED, LIED AGAIN, LIED AGAIN, LIED AGAIN, LIED AGAIN and when he couldn't LIE anymore he told the truth. That should be unacceptable coming from our elected representatives. Lie to the people and should you go and I don't give a crap if you have an R or D next to your name.
Who cares if Weiner lied--his sexting was none of my business to begin with.
There was no Scandal here--Americans are just obsessed with sex so we are fixated by this.
Dear Shuklack:
I'm rubber, you're glue; what you say bounces off of me and sticks to you. Nyahh.
@ Shuklack - so what you are saying that Democrats don't espouse family values and a belief in Religion? Maybe that's the basic problem with the Democratic party. Although I know this is not true in all cases, look at John Edwards, he went to great lengths (apparently breaking campaign law to do it) to look like a family man to his potential voters, and in the end, he was a pig, just like the rest of them. (just an example, I think the Democrats do espouse family values and a belief in Religion, only when it will bring them votes, also a hypocrisy. Republicans have historically supported both.)
Interesting thoughts on my posts.
@ Shuklack - so what you are saying that Democrats don't espouse family values and a belief in Religion?
They don't espouse what could be called "Christian family values" as much as the Right (as in litigation driven toward such values). When it comes to religion, they generally prefer secularism in government rather than religious litigation. Also, the left seems far less concerned about what goes on inside people's bedrooms in general. I just heard on the radio Arroyo state that 'sexting is an epidemic and attack on our culture' and she wanted to get Weiner kicked out for hurting American culture... lol really? Somehow now it's ok to judge what makes 'proper American culture"? That's kind of scary.
just an example, I think the Democrats do espouse family values and a belief in Religion, only when it will bring them votes, also a hypocrisy.
Why do you think the Christian Right is pandered to by the Republicans so fervently?
What it comes down to mainly though is who litigates their 'religious beliefs' into law. The Right tends to be the ones on that front.
"most said he would — and should — politically survive, saying they had voted for him before and would again."
And who says liberals are controled soley by their ideology with no regard to reality or rational thinking? ... oh yea, everybody, because it is blatently true.
He should have tried the "depends on what the definition of "is" is" defense. Worked for Clinton, the Chaps Acquitted.
txmom32
Since the deal with Clinton
there have been 11 high profile cases.
Reps:7
Dems: 4
THis include Weiner.
So you going on about this, when you guy all stood up for the GOP..
Same old crap, different day,
His problem was he was stupid and acting juvenile , SO what, most the GOP in DC is like that.
If we are going to address this because of the 'lies', then everyone on Capitol Hill should resign.
If someone lies about their personal life, that did not affect his constituents, I would rather leave it between him and his family. If it can be proven that he lied about things regarding his job, I would ask him to resign.
He is a human being who is flawed like the rest of us. This does not mean he is not a great congressman. He does a great job fighting for his constituents in New York.
He is not a hypocrite, because I have never seen him ask for anyone to resign for misdemeanors or anything else. Bill Clinton lied about his personal life. He was punished and turned out to be one of the best Presidents, who is now a wonderful representative for the US as a private citizen.
Lets not condemn the man for lying about his personal life. Now when he does something that affect his constituents, we should hang him out to dry.
ewent,
Breitbart, a conservative exposed Weiner for a reason...Weiner was hoping to run for mayor of Noo Yawk City. So, the armies of neocons with big money were massing against the armies of Noo Yawk liberals and WeinerGate is the result. And all it took was big big big bucks.
No, Weiner, a Left Wing Liberal/Progressive Wack Job, exposed his wiener. And for a reason. We all know what that reason was. Breitbart had nothing to do with it.
Drunk or mental? I'm leaning towards drunk.
Did anyone else laugh when they read the first sentence?
"...he tweeted a photo of his bulging underpants..."
Seriously? You guys think it's about the lying? You're so perfect you never lie? Personally, I've never met anyone who hasn't lied -- including myself or my 'claims to never lie' mother -- so I can't throw stones. But I'm impressed by the number of highly moral and forever honest people out there. And I guess you've never done anything you might want to lie about either, which makes this compulsive and superior honesty of yours easy to achieve, yes?
For me, it's about the disgusting arrogance of sending such a pathetic picture of yourself to someone you don't know. How can anyone not know that these images, once online, can be distributed? How can anyone not know that as a public figure, odds are such pictures will be released? How can anyone be arrogant enough to stand before the public making speeches, knowing what they're doing after hours. The lying only indicates the man isn't insane and knows what he was doing was humiliating and obscene.
As a Democrat and someone who really liked Weiner for his outspoken defense of Democratic policies, I'm an really angry at him for behaving like this and hurting the party. He should have known better. There's really no excuse for it.
I don't think he should resign -- that's up to his constituents (we have to put up with Republican districts electing lying, hypocritical, morally debased representatives too -- it's just part of the democratic process). But he's compromised his effectiveness, and that's really too bad for everyone.
Why do you think the Christian Right is pandered to by the Republicans so fervently?
Actually it is the Christian Right that is pandering to the Republicans, (and anyone else, for that matter) that suits their agenda.
Mike...I'm not disputing everything you said. In fact I agree with you. The post wasnt about invading Iraq, it was about the "lies" that were the WMD's. I was merely pointing out that the libs like to blame Bush for those "lies" and I correctly pointed out the Clinton administrtion Democrats furnished most of those "lies." Its not about the decision to invade Iraq, this was about those "lies" the libs believe was all Bush's doing. Stay on course Mike.
Actually it is the Christian Right that is pandering to the Republicans, (and anyone else, for that matter) that suits their agenda.
Hehe true enough. Bedfellows are bedfellows. I mean just look at the recent slew of possible Republican Presidential candidates - Palin, Romney, Santorum, even Bachmanne was talked about as a VP or something. Each of those candidates toutes the "Christian Right" as a major voting bloc. Each one of those candidates has no qualms about injecting their religious beliefs into what is supposed to be a secular US government.
This drives those in the middle away, since the Christian Right (and by proxy Teaparty) is often seen as the 'extreme right wing' of America. If the GOP wants a chance this next election, the need to shed this stigma with a rational conservative candidate.
spo de o do has it exactly right why weiner needs to go. Weiner was content to lie his azz off, until someone said to him, "o yeah, I guess I need to release this nasty pic of you then." Thankfully it was the upstanding and patriotic Breitbart who had the pic and used it to blackmail Weiner into telling the truth, of all things. Strange thing when you have to blackmail a Congressman to not tell lies. Now if I had the pic, I might have called him and told him he needed to stay in Congress, denounce Obamacare and work to forward Paul Ryans budget. Of course that would be just the first thing he had to do. Not the only thing. What would you have asked for from the congressman in your pocket?
upstanding and patriotic Breitbart
Lol, cmon now.. upstanding AND patriotic? I wouldn't go that far in describing Breitbart.
As for Weiner, I don't think its his 'sexting' that has people upset, what has people upset is when he lied after being caught and exposed. If he didn't deny the pictures, I think most of this would have blown over by now.
used it to blackmail Weiner into telling the truth
Truth about his extramarital e-lationships you mean? Yeah, good for him, he sure saved the country from.... what? Some slightly perverted philanderer who likes college co-eds? Whoop-de-friggin-doo. Thanks Breitbart for distracting us with this titilating sex-circus, we sure needed a break from things that matter.
Yes, this guy is role model for Ive league democrats, this guy faking tears along with the liberal press, not because he is ashamed of his act ,but because was a conservative who make him confess his fault. Anthony Weiner sick puppet was sexting to girls that in his own words said , he didn't know the age of the girls we was sexting to. This is the role model for his intelligent liberal constituents.
No. he shouldn't, the vast majority of Righties are in the closet, doing God only knows until they get caught. Hippocrates!
Anthony Weiner sick puppet was sexting to girls tha in his own words said , he didn't kow the age of the girls we was sexting to
I sure hope you're posting via cellphone because reading you out loud it sounds like you're Swisgard or Toki from Metalocalypse..
In response to this particular comment, Weiner did say that he was 'fairly certain' that they were adults, but could not say for sure. Basically he is just covering his butt.
In his defense on this particular comment - can you say for certain the age of anyone you only know through electronic communications?
He lied, he said somebody hacked his account. If he would have just came out and said yes that is me in my underwear and I tweeted it, most rational people would have said good luck with your wife and moved on. But instead he continued to lie up until of the point were he couldn't anymore because there was too much proof.
And who says liberals are controled soley by their ideology with no regard to reality or rational thinking? ... oh yea, everybody, because it is blatently true.
Replace liberal with conservative and you, by definition, have Sarah Palin and every other tea bagger out there.
MLJ...The point here is I scream just as loud when it is a Republican. Arnold is as low as they come. Not a fan of Vitters. My guess is there are more on both sides of the aisle than we would care to count. Having said that have you included the dirty business dealings that Barney Frank did on behalf of his lover?
But THEY LIE to you everyday !!!!! and about way more important issues !!!
Like: Europeans are socialists !! BIG LIE !
All european countries are capitalist countries, no matter if the left or the right govern, we all have good social programs, free education and affordable universal healthcare ! what they forget to tell you is that social programs make good democracies and it is common sense, not socialism !!!
Do you get it ?
Sleeping with a prostitute is a crime. Mr Vitter did just that and the Republicans voted for him to sit respectably as one of a hundred US senators. Mr. Weiner should resign immediately. Does he think we are Republicans?!! We hold ourselves to a higher standard!!
Seriously though I think Mr. Weiner sits well among his peers(Republicans & Democrats) in Washington. All that is needed of him now is to move into that house on C Street where they facilitate that kind behavior. At least then Mr. Brietbart would leave him alone.
narvick2000...Europeans do have many socialist programs. In England we paid 40% in Taxes to HM Revenue, then the council taxes, Vat taxes and a TV tax for goodness sakes. On top of that we had to pay the IRS.
The UK is a very benevolent country. Single mother with a child (children) under 18, get a council house and income, the NHS my darling dear one would have died from cancer under that brain child program had we not come home to good heath care. The British suffer for the public education the same as the United States...they are just more used to paying for private school. Reasonable social programs that serve the general public yes transportation being a biggie...but the nanny state programs that just keep a society going without accountability not so much.
I not only got it but I lived it. Loved England, worth the price but next time around the whole family will use the private insurance not just the kids. Thank God I did not trust my kids health to the NHS. England's private medical care rocks.
..... brash Queens congressman twice tearfully apologized to her for sending lewd photographs of himself to women he met online. They were married 11 months ago in a ceremony officiated by Bill Clinton.
Need I post more??? But now it's "relationship" and "communication"
bye-bye Wiener
I wish America would get over its hypocritical Victorian attitudes toward Congress?white House and their sexual behaviors!!! Seriously. I see sexual cr*p on FOX, NBC, TNN, etc. that is no different (and in some ways, far worse) than what this guy did. Do I condone it? NO! Especially if it involves underage girls, then the guy needs to be arrested. Hence, the need for an investigation.
If sexual behaviors had to be tested before anyone could be in Congress or run for President, Washington D.C. would be a ghost town! (Not a bad idea, now that I think about it!).
Personally, I think there are far too many "dirty little wanna be's" in this country who are ready to pounce on anything unsuitable to their taste until, that is, one of their own gets caught (like Gingrich and his sleaze while denouncing/impeaching Clinton in the 90's, the height of hypocrisy!).
Lets keep our media out of other people's pants!!! The media is just as much to blame! They will talk about some guys libido for weeks but not investigate financial crimes on Wall Street, lies about going to war, etc! Media is worthless.....ALL of Them...except "Democracy Now" with Amy Goodwin (independent news).
And what would have happened if a Terrorist had gotten a hold of the photo first, and used it to blackmail Weiner.
Anyone who has a clearance has heard this, the majority of your back ground check is to see if you not only have anything that can be blackmailed against you, but to test your character in being honest. As long as you are honest (and haven't killed anyone) you can get a clearance, if sponsored. It's those that lie that get kicked out.
I want his clearance revoked due to character concerns in dealing with TS classified level material.
As someone who voted for Obama, and would rail against the GOP/TP for the same thing, this bonehead needs to resign.
I think Weiner exercised extremely poor judgment and made the mistake of lying about the situation. By virtue of this, he should resign. The fact that he is a twittering idiot is irelevent. This is the 21st century but some people's thirst for full disclosure is archaic. I would have had more respect for him if he just said no comment and left it at that...This should have been an issue between him and his wife.
Lesson to be learned here;
1. Whatever you put on the internet stays there FOREVER so exercise some common sense.
2- Never trust anyone on the internet...especially fellow twittering idiots.
Having Security Clearance has NOTHING to do with this situation. As a military vet who had a high level security clearance, one's libido has nothing to do with it! Again, if the issue of cyber sex or kinky phone sex was a litmus for being fired or denied security clearance, my bet is that MOST of the military and Congress would be let go. Again, illegal issues with the use of government property or underage sexual abuse must be met with the full weight of the law.
I believe this Congressman should resign, ONLY if the Monster Paul Ryan Resigns, Fuhrer Scott Walker Resigns, Fuhrer Haslam of Tennessee Resign, The Senate Minority Leader Resigns, All the Tea Baggers running for President, Agree not to run for ANY political Job, and Sir John of Orange Boehner Resign.
I think he should resign, but so should Vitter.
It seems to be a one way street with the Repugs. When Vitter was caught schupping prostitutes, no one called for his head, oh, that's right, he apologized and did a Jimmy Swaggart and all was forgiven. In fact he is still in office, but instead prostitutes, he is now schupping us!
He is a shining example of what is wrong with Washington and our country!
vwterry,,, I agree with you 1000%.
Where was the outrage when David Vitter, United States Senator, was found to be on prostitutes' lists, and was found to be have been with prostitutes on several occasions over several years' time. Now here's the rub... this guy has the balls to run on "family values". AND HE'S STILL IN THE SENATE! Where's the outrage about this? Same basic stuff... he LIED about it until actually confronted with the truth. Sound somewhat similar? Sound even worse?
AND HE'S STILL IN THE SENATE. WHERE'S THE FRIGGIN' OUTRAGE?
Yeah... Andrew Breitbart... now THERE'S a fine, upstanding journalist. And I'm sure that he only had the truth on his mind when he pulled this off. Just like he skewered that poor woman, Shirley Sherrod with edited videotape that destroyed her career. Poor, scruple-less Andrew Breitbart. I really feel SOOOOO badly for him.
....as opposed to Barney Franks who admitted he hired a male prostitute, and ran a whore house out of his apartment, but "didn't know".
Stop deflecting by naming GOP names. It's not what this is about. This is about Weiner flashing his weener to college coeds, then lying about it to the nation.
If he had just said "Yeah, I did it. Sue me." I would respect him more.
PS - Regardless of how the Sherrod thing turned out, I love how you all overlok how that woman admitted to being a racist and everyone shrugged it off. If that had been a white man admitting he had done that to a black man, it wouldn't matter that he had changed later. You would have crucified him.
Weiner should have an aide come out and say "My assertion about being hacked was not intended to be a factual statement"
FactsNotRhetoric
Racism is ugly no matter who practices it...but somehow it's a little more palatable coming from a large group of people who still experience racism in our less than perfect American society. And whose history of blatant discrimination/oppression is a terrible reflection on the morals/values practiced by White Americans in the past.
If a White man admitted he'd racially discriminated against someone and then sincerely apologized...no I wouldn't crucify him. That's progress.
I agree with your position on Weiner though, he needed to tell the truth right away...that's the crux here.
The most pathetic part of this whole Weinergate thing is, he's trying to be sexy in these twitpics. I look at the shots, and the song "Pencil Neck Geek" starts running through my brain. He is so not sexy.
When Senator Vitter was caugvht using prostitutes, which is illegal, did yOu scream resign? No you re-elected him.
When Senator Larry Craig was caught in an Airport Mens Room soliciting sex, did you get him to resign? No, a few calls for it initially, then spin and lies...and he kept his seat. Soliciting sex in a Mens room is illegal.
Rep Foley (FL) solicited sex on the internet from underage boys...it is illegal. He did resign, BUT John Boehner and Dennis Hastert engaged in a cover up for months, did you throw them out for their attempts to cover up this crime Making them accessories after the fact? No, You picked them as Speaker of the House.
Wiener committed no crime did not use Govt facilities or property to engage in his activity, Maybe when you throw out those who engage in Illegal activity of a sexual nature...then we can discuss how to treat those who engage in legal activity, however tasteless.
Your hypocrisy is, as usual, showing. Even more so when you claim to be the party of 'family values' and you are not.
When a shirtless photo that was requested is called lewd you need to take a look at a lot of billboards for underwear and fashion that sow a lot of mens crotches (Calvin Klein anyone). And A magazine where a US Rep (R) takes it off for the cameras.

FactsNot Rhetoric
You need to check your facts. Barney Frank never ran a whorehouse in his home or anywhere else. The man he allowed to stay with him on occasion, mostly when he was out of town--they did not live together--had worked as an escort, and he (Steve Gobie) made the claims about running an escort service (Not a whorehouse) out of Barney Franks home. He made this up after seeing the Mayflower Madame on TV as he later admitted. Numerous investigations into Gobie's claims were undertaken, none found a shred of evidence they were true. In fact they found his story did not match facts and was contradictory. Phone records would have shown if such calls were being made, they did not (No Cell back then) Gobie later admitted he made it all up to get a deal for his story. Franks was cleared of that, he was found to have helped him fix a couple parking tickets and thats what the house repremanded him for.
From the Congressional Investigation Report:
ON Whether Frank Knew any escort service was being run
Based upon information obtained under subpoena and sworn testimony, the Committee concludes that the weight of the evidence indicates that Representative Frank did not have either prior or concomitant knowledge of prostitution activities involving third parties alleged to have taken place in his apartment. ... Representative Frank's landlords ... submitted sworn testimony contradicting Mr. Gobie's assertion. ... The Committee, therefore, further concludes that no further action is warranted.
On Whether any escort service was being run at all:
Not only have Representative Frank's landlords, Colonel and Mrs. James Daugherty, submitted sworn testimony contradicting Mr. Gobie's assertion, Mr. Gobie's assertion has also been rendered questionable by the fact that his claims of call-forwarding service were contradicted by the telephone company.
The above are direct quotes from the Congressional Investigation
Also, members of the committee repeatedly asked Gobie if he had "any knowledge whether any of the clients that you arranged to engage your escort service in fact were involved or participated in any sexual activity at the Congressman's residence" or whether Gobie himself engaged in such activities at Frank's apartment. In each instance, Gobie answered, "Not that I can recall at this time" (Page 7).
These are the real facts, not the Rhetoric
I assume you were taken in by the yapping talking heads on Cable Shows, best to check the real information
Yes, because no one has ever been bought off to suddenly "not recall".
LOL.
Give it a rest. The point is, Republicans don't hold the sole real estate in sexual scandal land, and if this had been a Republican, your heads would be spinning like the little girl fromthe Exorcist, screaming for his resignation. Hypocrites.
Where was the right wing outrage at David Vitter buying prostitutes on his phone while sitting in the Senate Chambers during votes?
How about the right wing outrage over Ensign, did hear to much on that front either.
Craig? Sanford? Gingrich?
These scumbags were all caught actually cheating on their wives and at least three of them illegally yet Weiner's trading pictures is some how worse!
Eric Cantor publicly defended, Vitter, Ensign, Craig and Sanford yet he calls for Weiner' s resignation.
Total Right Wing Hypocrisy!
"Bait a trap with poontang and you'll catch a Democrat every time.
Bait a trap with money and you will catch Democrats AND Republicans every time."
Wow, I guess that means that money is the...the...the Master Bait!
Hahahaha, Unit Toad! That was a nice bit of levity after a long thread of sometimes intense snarkiness.
WOW.. a Weiner that just doesn't size up. Go figure. Now all the other envious in the stretch want a swinging place, with and without the tree. Being that I am in NY, and I think about voting every time I break wind, I must abstain from judging every little prick that comes along, and reserve the good stuff for the bigger pricks. I just hope the F*CKING he was hoping for was better than the F*CKING we keep getting, because my nether-hole is not so pert as it was when I believed government could work.
Def: Liberal, someone so open minded that their mind actually falls out!
Def: Republican, someone who never had a mind to begin with.
Well, it's pretty simple...
A) Scott Brown was not holding a political office when he posed for Cosmopolitan.
B) Scott Brown was not married when he posed for Cosmopolitan.
C) Scott Brown did not send his partially-clad pictures to women who didn't request them.
D) Scott Brown didn't offer to use campaign funds to pay off a porn star so she wouldn't talk about his pictures.
In short, it's pretty much apples and oranges.
Oh by the way - I'm not on the right, and I don't necessarily think Weiner should resign - unless it's proved that there were actual ethics violations. However, I do think that any married man who does stuff like this is a complete douchebag.
abolish taxes says, Def: Republican, someone who never had a mind to begin with.
Fair enough, which explains why most Republicans never give a dime to the United Negro College Fund. Even if the UNCF slogan is true, that A mind is a terrible thing to waste then the Republicans have nothing to worrry about.
See? And all this time you thought that Republicans just don't like Negroes.
If a private employee, using a private company's property (cell phone) had done this, that private employee would have been fired.
Just because it's the public's dole, why should he be excused?
Where are the Morals of the Democratic Party, at least Boehner told Chris Lee to get out and that was a picture of Lee without a shirt. This guy is on the Internet with his "junk" standing. Is that what we are to tell our kids now"oh that's OK honey, he's our Public Official!!!!!
I don't think politicians are supposed to be moral leaders. Has that ever worked?
all this crap about "he lied" blah blah blah
do you know when a politician lies? EVERY time they open their mouths---
get real people yes clinton lied and no one died, bush lied and thousands died and are still dying -- there is a huge difference between lies that wing nutters never seem to be able to grasp
the only politicians claiming they are "moral" leaders with "family values" are the scum bags that try for the wing nutter support and they are all value less immoral pieces of crap
It must be a slow news day - This story is about 5 days old.
http://www.weiner.house.gov/issue_display.aspx?id=844
From Anthony Weiners OWN website.....
"In early 2007 my office did a study that found that over 85% of registered sex offenders in New York City live less than five blocks from schools, and 670 sex offenders live within just two blocks. Some offenders are even closer, permanently residing less than 500 feet away from unwitting parents, educators and children.
Along with several colleagues in Congress, we introduced & passed the KIDS (Keeping the Internet Devoid of Sexual Predators) Act of 2007, a bill to require sex offenders to register their e-mail and instant message addresses with the National Sex Offender Registry. The “Kids Act’ implemented one of my six recommendations to keep a closer eye on sex offenders both near school grounds and online. I also proposed stricter GPS tracking of sex offenders, tougher enforcement of registration laws and more public disclosure of sex offender data.
Sadly, the Internet is the predator's venue of choice today. We need to update our strategies and our laws to stop these offenders who are a mere click away from our children."
Sadly yes.......and Weiner is a VIOLATOR of his OWN LEGISLATION...how's that for a TOP NOTCH representative!!
Seems like to me that everyone is obsessed with the Weinerman's weiner more than the Weinerman himself.
Having more than a dozen of this man stories per day is making the people all weiners for reading and obsessing with them.
So what if he showed his crotch-shot. Bid effen deal. Hundreds of thousands of men on the net show themselves in underwear or speedo's if not millions.
This story has gotton way out of control, and I do not condone his lies, but what he does in his private and personal life for me is his biz, not yours, mine or ours.
Sure he sent the pics to young women, I'm sure they accepted them willingly since they may have asked him to send them to them. They are just as guilty for talking sex with the man over twitter. Why aren't we seeing all their messages that they have sent around over the net, not to mention all their booby pics as well. I doubt these women are innocent. For them this is a big payday for stories and a quick cash flow as one of them was flown out to NY and paid handsomely to tell her story. Lets hear the whole story and find out what she really said and posted on her Twitter account.
As for the 17 yo. As far as we know, she could have told people she was 18, 19, 20, or even 21 yo. Lets find out about all her messages on the Twitter account and learn what kind of a **** she will turn out to be. afterwards.
I am sure that all of his life he has been teased and called a big Weiner, because of his unfortunate name. Did ANYONE honestly think that given the chance and he would not show it off? I wish he had not lied about it. I wish he wasn't married at the time. The fact that he did it, or is a politician, or even how he distributed the images... who cares. Have any of you seen the stuff that OUR kids are posting on facebook every day? God help them if they someday want to go into government and we do not loosen our puritanical ideas about what is appropriate. America is not going to self destruct because a Congressman decided not to be bashful about his genitals. What if someone in congress visited a nude beach somewhere and someone released photos of that? We should be more concerned with the images of violence that we and our children see everyday and think nothing of and feel are even appropriate.
Boy oh Boy Weiner sure is in deep you know what now? Every PUBE is out to hang him to get peoples eyes off themselves. Weiner hasn't broken any laws, it's a family matter and actually none of anyone elses business. None of the Pubes broke any laws except the one doing a tap dance in the mens room trying to pick up another man. It has absolutely nothing to do with his job. OH and the pervert talking nasty to interns that weren't interested. You people need to get a life. Stop pointing your boney ole fingers at everyone else and go look at the skeletons in your own closet. I hate faux Christian family values. That's all they are, you expect everybody else to go by your rules except you. Christians don't practice one ounce of their faith. If they did they'd be more tolerant and forgiving. What would your jesus do? All you men are just jealous his tool is so BIG! HaHa
LOL, PUBES are funny people. They called security on Herman Cain when he showed up at the Pubes Committee till they realized who he was. OOPS, He is running and might get the old pubes vote Florida them thinking he is McCain. He is just the opposite of McCain old white man Herman old black man.
Keep laughing Glenn. Your party has declared themselves the party of no ethics or integrity this week. Have fun at the polls in 2012!
What party is that? I'm neither dem or pubes, They all need to go. ODD! Factsnotrhetoric you don't know either do you?
Never in a million years could a Republican do this and keep
his job. Weiner has done nothing but lie about his sexting and indecent pics,
so I have no reason to believe him without credible proof of evidence. RESIGN
and crawl under a rock.
“It seems now that Dan may have had an agenda all along,” he said. “We don’t know yet what it is. But he never said to me, ‘I’m going to get this guy.’ What he said is that it was not right.”
Indeed it was not right. I'm surprised that Weiner was apparently aware he was being watched, but continued his 'sexting' anyway.
Sicko.
ZeroX---did you forget about Vitter? What he did was so much worse (illegal) and isn't he still in office? Double standard typical of conservatives.
echo.....
Cept for that pesky fact that he admitted it and didn't lie to the nation about it. They all need to go. Good riddance to him, Weiner, Rangel, Franks, etc.....
Your list is incomplete FNR, where are the Repubs on it? Yes, if they do something illegal they should go.
....Franks hired a male prostitute, whom he then roomed with and the guy ran a brothel out of their apartment, byt Franks swears he never had a clue (LOL).
Rangel is guilty of tax evasion, and used his congressional connections and letterhead to pimp money for some building he wanted named after him at some college. Both are illegal.
Weiner used campaign funds to pay off a porn star to keep her quiet, which is misappropriations of campaign funds, also illegal.
Everyone I named....even Vitter....has done something illegal and should go.
And that's not all of them.....
Sam Adams, mayor of Portland, Oregon is still serving, and he had sex with an underage male staffer.
Goldschmidt never went to jail for having sex with a 14 year old girl when he was governor.
Stop acting like it's just the Republicans who don't hold thier side responsible for breaking the law.
FNR---I mean where are the Repubs on your list? Convenient to leave them off. If you are going to be outraged at least be consistent about it. The "family values" party is filled with hypocrites.
I love how you liberals keep using family values like it's an expletive.
I said Vitter needed to go to, but then again, you ned to be able to read to understand what is wrote, I suppose.
Strawman argument fail.
Take your logical fallacy of deflecting to the other party to draw attention away from Weiner somewhere else. Not even Obama is falling for it anymore....
"I'd resign if I were in his position." -Barack Obama ,2011
No, we actually believe in them and are offended when those in the party that touts them so much publicly (GOP) does much the opposite in private. Makes it that much more hypocritical. And nice how you throw in an insult, makes you quite the upstanding person as well.
Yeah Colann, I'm a holier than thou Liberal and I want Weiner to resign! Where are all the holier than thou conservatives who don't want Larry Craig to resign? TSK TSK Double standard.
I am just a plain ole liberal and I think his constituents should decide that and not all the screamer out here. Jezzus, my Senator is a drunk and no one seems to care .....
My definition of a drunk,,,,,someone who gets drunk and crashes airplanes.
I'm waiting for his wife to go after him with a golf club. As to resigning, he's a liberal, as in libertine, nuff said.
Holier than thou, I hope not; liberal doesn't quite fit, but I'm definitely a progressive (so you would call me a liberal) and I don't care what political ideology these guys align themselves with. I'm sick and tired of people in power thinking they are above the rules of common decency and morality. Resign, Weiner, and the sooner the better! We don't want to keep hearing your bilge.
Where are all the "holier than thou" liberals demanding resignation when it's a conservative that does something like this.
Well I am a liberal who called for the resignation of republicans when they pull this crap, and I am calling on Weiner to resign as well. Regardless of whether he broke house ethic rules or not, he broke rules of common decency, he purposely smeared Breitbart, whom I can't stand, to protect himself when he knew the truth. I've had more than a few choice words for Breitbart on the vine a few days ago and I'll apologize for them in public...I was wrong.
I'm a liberal (definitely a progressive) and I want him to resign. He has lost credibility. What is with these people in this day and age who are acting like teenagers with their sexting of text and/or pictures. No responsible grown up does this. I don't care what party he represents, he is immature and irresponsible and doesn't belong in office.
I have no idea how anyone can compare this to Scott Brown posing for pictures long before he was elected to office. What Scott Brown did was out in the open and people could take that into consideration before deciding on voting for him or not.
Weiner is an elected official. He sent out lewd pictures pictures of himself secretly and then lied about it. People that are trying to compare the two separate things are probably the same people who backed Weiner and said he was innocent. They said it was a dirty Republican trick. Now they're embarrassed about being wrong and so naive about the whole thing.
Just my opinion, elected officials should be held to a very high standard. They put themselves on a lofty perch, like they're so much above regular citizens. They vote themselves raises no matter how the economy is. They pass healthcare for the masses but they exempt themselves from using it.
The House rules state a member "shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House." Weiner broke that rule big time and should be removed from office.
Victor- I'm not a Democrat or particularly liberal but I'd be curious if you could point out all of the "Democratic party is full of P.O.S.s" that are "defending him is morally wrong" in the above posts? Just the post number please. It's in the lower left corner of the post if your not familiar with it.
As for me, I say let his constituents handle it if he doesn't do it on his own. He's probably so damaged politically he won't be able to function effectively and it's likely the Democratic leadership will force him out and if so, fine.
I do cry BS however that our elected leaders need to be some paragons of virtue and Puritan morality. Unless your reading of history stopped with the pablum they fed you in high school damned few if any of our leaders have been free of human frailties. Washington kept slaves. Jefferson kept slaves and slept with them. Ben Franklin was a well known whoremonger. Lincoln would have allowed slavery to continue if it would have prevented war. FDR slept around. Eisenhower had an long time affair with Kay Summersby. Kennedy screwed everything that had a pulse.
And your outrage that they were 19? I taught on a Big 10 Campus for 30 years. I suspect if you had any notion of the stuff that goes on EVERY weekend (and most weekdays in a lot of cases) your college aged daughters would be chained in their rooms. Was it creepy? Of course. But he was not in a position of authority over them & they entered into the relationship, such as it was, of their own volition.
Roodles @ 2.12
"Just my opinion, elected officials should be held to a very high standard."
I agree. But not with your reasoning.
Unless they forcibly rape someone, engage in sex with a minor or coerce someone they are in a position of authority over I could care less about our elected officials sex lives.
But when they sell their votes to the highest bidder they should be tried for treason. And there are plenty of candidates on both sides of the aisle for Public Enemy number 1.
I think he should resign because of the stupidity of it all! What was he thinking!
I couldn't care less about his personal sex life, but when you are an outspoken liberal do you really think those in the right wing media will out you on stupid BS like this!
Pure Stupidity! What a Shame!
@Victor-1304988 - But then again Clinton was 50 something when he not only pursued 19 year old Monica L. then ruined her life and then lied about it under oath so the history of the Democratic party is full of P.O.S.s
do you really think that posting this over and over is going to change someone's mind?
I stopped caring about the actual scandal halfway in and cared more about how much it came up; we talked about a man's groin for this long?
@..::raven::.. - While your bias is amusing, it is also disgusting. ALL OF THEM SHOULD GO, BOY...not just the one's in the party that you want! Grow up, HYPOCRITE!
@..::raven::.. - While your bias is amusing, it is also disgusting. ALL OF THEM SHOULD GO, BOY...not just the one's in the party that you want! Grow up, HYPOCRITE!
Yes..he should go...and could he please take the prostitute-using-piece-of-dirt David Vitter with him? Oh yes...there's plenty of bad behavior to go around. Why don't they just admit it when they are found out? I personally am sick of the whole Congress...this is a distraction...WHERE are the jobs?
No libbies, please keep him where he is! He's great for the Progressive element and without question, a real hoot when it comes to being a poster boy for the Progressives.
He should resign.
But I what find amusing is conservatives with glass houses that constantly hurl the largest stone they can find.
Mike,
But I what find amusing is conservatives with glass houses that constantly hurl the largest stone they can find.
Your statement would be true if you could point to someone on this vine that was supporting a conservative's similar actions and denouncing Weiner's. Don't believe I saw that anywhere. So logically you're bringing up an argument and smearing a group of people for statements that haven't been made. Is that you Weiner?
A few observations:
Uh folks...Did anyone check out the background of Andrew Breitbart, the guy who exposed Weiner? A neoconservative with the usual shark teeth ready to prove that the entire country should be conservative and fall into that brown shirted step with their basically misguided ideology.
Is that all neoconservatives do with their free time? Dig up dirt on Democrats? How do we know that Breitbart isn't part of the lobbying groups paid by the GOP to dig up dirt on Democrats so they can win another election?
Isn't that how we ended up with that Texas Buffoon Bush? Would Bush have won the election of 2000 if the RNC hadn't jimmy rigged MonicaGate with Clinton? And everyone bought that little piece of tripeage hook, line and sinker...Outrage among the self-righteous religious right wing.
Next time you vote against a party, don't do it because some right wing campaign is handing you a line of MoralityGate BS. One Bush in a lifetime is more than enough.
ewent,
Uh folks...Did anyone check out the background of Andrew Breitbart, the guy who exposed Weiner?
Weiner exposed himself.
My sympathy to his wife. I hope she sets him straight and tells he as to resign and get some help immediately.
I guess I'm a conservative because I believe that him resigning or not isn't going to change a thing. We talk about blackmail and lying to the public and blah blah, but is that actually a problem after the big reveal? We've forgotten about worse.
We have surely seen worse behavior from Congress, Senate and White House occupants.. and this is why I have become so apathetic when it comes to voting.... I spent over a decade in DC, watched the beltway bingo games.. Sad the SOS day after day
The dems desperately want Weiner to resign because they fear a continuing series of revelations. Obviously, Weiner’s been at this for some time and the dems consider it likely more women will come forward and more tweets/photo’s or other embarrassments will, over time, manifest themselves.
If Weiner resigned, then any future revelations will have little impact on the Democratic Party.
In this matter, the dems should follow the lead of the repubs where in similar circumstances they quickly resigned. Sleaze is not confined to any one party.
Remember Chris Lee, where is the Democratic Party to do the same with their own man. He needs to go now or bring more shame down on the Democratic Party.
Democrats will vote the jackass back in. He is from New York. Charlie Rangel cheated on his taxes while serving on the Ways and Means Committee writing the tax code for everybody except himself and the stupid ignorant people in New York voted him in again. What is really "funny" is that Brian williams wouldn't report on Weinergate because he had more important things to report like Sarah Palin and the Paul Revere story. Tonight he carried the apology on prime time. Poor Williams, he must be all shook to have to report on his beloved democrats.
Remember Ensign a GOP "Conservative" He waited many months, until the ethics investigation was going to indict him before he would resign; and he did far worse with an actual affair and payoff. Weiner was stupid and lied, but all politicians think they won't be caught. It doesn't change what he stands for and I say it is up to his constituents to decide if he should go. If he was my rep I would probably vote him out for being so stupid to think he wouldn't be caught in today's tech world. By today's standards most previous Presidents would be found morally deficient with their affairs, children out-of wedlock, racist attitudes and drinking.
Agreed. And why doesn't Nancy Pelosi ask us if we want to waste tax dollars (that they don't have to spend) to determine if Weiner's weiner shots are ethical? PLLLLEASE
Victor,
You know what they call people who keep saying the same thing over and over? A boor.
It just show that Democrats have double standers. If it was a republican could you imagine the response Weiner would be giving. Him yelling like usual "Its a disgrace for the republicans and they should force him out", but since it happens to be him it's okay i apologize. It's always okay for Democrats to do wrong but never a republican. Lets go back to tax cheating if it's a dem it's okay republican must resign or else.
vwterry - Its clear that you feel all democrats should get a free pass. Why didn't you bring up the fact that Bill Clintin also lied to the American public and stayed in office? Didn't he get the free pass? Didn't he allow some intern to overhear a conversation with Arafat while getting gratified? Suppose Monica had been a spy? The fact reamins that they are all an embarassment to this country and deserve to be shamed out of public office regardless of which political party they belong. Go back to your mommy's basement and play your little video games.
Spo...Weiner's days are numbered. But Weiner is a Noo Yawkah with a whole lot of Noo Yawkah cronies to back him. It really isn't about Democrat or Republican at all with Weiner. It's about how honorable Noo Yawk politicians are willing to be with one of their own. Weiner said he won't resign..He knows why. His army of Noo Yawk cronies will back him until they are shamed into admitting he's a black mark on them.
since I have daughters their ages I see him as nothing more than a first degree creep.
Hate to break it to ya man, but just about every male between the years of 14 and 105 find hot college co-eds to be quite alluring.
Although, I would agree that sending pictures unsolicited to random women on Twitter does hit pretty high on the 'creep-o-meter'
Shuklack...Thank you for being honest and forthright. If half the people on this thread were as honest, this country wouldn't be in the mess it's in.
Although, I would agree that sending pictures unsolicited to random women on Twitter does hit pretty high on the 'creep-o-meter'
this is not what he did, as per my understanding. all of these women followed him on twitter, and he followed them. they were twitter friends, which pretty much makes you, at least, an acquaintance nowadays, even if you have not met in person.
Gorrilla: As a fellow primate, I concur.
And have a banana on me.
800 lb. gorilla, there is a saying, if it walks like a duck, it must be a duck, or once a congressman, now a democratic disaster. But by all means try to minimize his culpability, but the damage is done and Weiner is cooked. Too bad he couldn't of had more moral fortitude and come clean the first time, but that is how democrats like to play the field, hide and seek until caught.
The guy brings the whole House into disrepute. Surely someone somewhere can text him a GTFO - or more politely insist that he, "Go, and be gone."
well, Why didn't you Gop'ers, go after Chris Christie for violating ethis using a helocopter to go to his son' game, doesn't matter if he paid it back>If he hadn't been caught NOTHING would have happened, People just learned at that time that it was actuallly twice and HE wasn't TRUTHFUL enought to come CLEAN>
Nobody squeezes two loafs for what this guy thinks.. Why? Because the GOP has plenty of corruption and cheaters of there own to deal with. Just like Democrats should keep quite when republican scum emerge time and time again so to should they be wary of "ACTING" holier than thou.
It makes you look more disingenuous then those you attack in that way. Glass houses? No! Because as of yet the guy named Wiener hasn't broken any laws. But Ensign and the lack luster gentlemen from Oklahoma did. So shut the you know what up already ; ]
Cheers
mowdy5,
Nice strawman argument.
"Look over here, at the GOP, not the man this story is about!"
Typical lib misdirection.
Hey culheath, do you know what they call Democrats? They call them people who keep saying the same thing over and over.
Sexual predator? These women were of legal age following him on twitter and willingly engaging in sexual conversations with him. Wrong because he was married-yes. However-to compare him to a true sexual predator who either forces women into sex or preys on children is a sick mistake. It is also wrong to compare him to Clinton. Clinton actually had sex with other women. Weiner never met these women-all interaction took place online. McGreevey gave his partner a government job-not the case here.
We need to put this into perspective and stop comparing this to other scandals. Everyone involved was an adult and willing participant. No one was coerced into doing anything they did not want to. No one was given a job or any government benefits for this. no goverment funds or resources were used. No one even touched anyone else. What he did to his wife was wrong-but not really any of my business.
What he did wrong to his constituents and what is our business was lie. If he broke no laws-it should be up to the voters to decide-and yes, they may agree with his policies and the bills on which he votes (you know-the actual issues) and choose to keep him in.
Resign? Three words: Senator David Vitter. I would only care about that behavior if it got into the way of a Congressman's duties. I don't care which party the guy is from from. I'm really sick of all the moralizing this country does over it's elected officials. The general population doesn't have to live up to that standard. Quit being hypocrites.
Remember, if it weren't for stuff like this there would be no country music.
GOP calls for Weiner to retire....
Well duh, everyone one knows that only GOP members are allowed to have sex scandals, and be caught lying and cheating....
Sheesh....
David Vitter broke the law and he did not resign so is it two diferant laws one if you are a DEM and one if you are a REP> at least Weiner did not break the law . he did lie but VITTER broke the law. I would bet John ensign did too, I bet they are not proscuted because it would destroy their career . I don't care about either one but there ought to be treated the same .
Blah blah blah deflect by mentioning Vitter blah blah blah that way we don't have to talk about Weiner blah blah blah Republicans are the devil blah blah.
Change the record.
A person with this kind of poor judgment should not have the honor of serving in Congress, nor should he be trusted with billions of dollars of our money.
In spite of how most of us view congress people, it is an honor to serve, and the job carries with it huge responsibility.
Can we all agree that we would like to have people of sound mind and good judgment in these positions of power and decision making?
He belongs serving burgers, not making billion dollar decisions and receiving a lifetime pension and benefits from the taxpayer.
RNC chairman: Weiner ‘needs to leave’ ( funny the GOP has 2 sets of standards Vitter is allowed to stay (he is the paid prostitute guy) and several other Republican bad boys yet they only attack this guy because he is a democrat.
I've been a baaaad boy in my life a few times, but my Weiner has never been in as much trouble as this Weiner.
Paul F I can concur with your statements for sure. So now there should be at least five hundred seats available for new politicians.
I think he was trying out for a Oscar Myer commercial! Go gett'em Weiner.
It's not even about whether or not Rep. Weiner has lost the trust of his constituents.
It's that now the Mass Media has turned him into a Weapon of Mass Distraction, a position he can't escape from.
He might as well resign.
factsnotrhetoric,
it's quite simple, weiner broke no laws, nor did he use government resources. what he does with his personal life is irrelevant.
and who is this "mr wolf" jackstrap? (the leader of the cyberstalking fools that started this)he sounds like someone in serious need of getting a life
No, what is quite simple is this story and scandal has nothing to do with the GOP, yet you keep injecting their names into it hoping that because the GOP has perverts too, it will excuse the Democrat pervert. It doesn't. You can try to justify it any way you'd like. Bottom line is this man lied to your faces, hoping you were too stupid to figure it all out, and you al still back him like he's just misunderstood. People like you who would vote for a piece of trash like this based solely on the fact that there is a D after his name make me sick, and are the reason this country is a joke to the rest of the world.
Anthony Weiner is not going to step down because his ego is bigger than his Pinocchio nose. His actions are despicable and they are not at the stature of a member of the Congress of the United States, people all around the world see this guy more pervert than the Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, this is not only matter of him and his constituents and this is not a private matters , this is a national matter ,is the national integrity of our representatives. Mrs. Pelosi is helping him trying to divert his case of misconduct for improper use of a government phone , but this is more than that , Democrats set lower the bar precisely to get away in this kind of situations.
Weiner should be forced to resign, or a recall election should be held. He should resign for conduct "unbecoming of a Congressman". He should be ashamed of himself, and hopefully his wife will dump him. I am sick of looking at the man. Get rid of him.
Actually republicans want him to stay because he will then be a constant reminder of what the best and finest the democrat party has to offer. The democrats want him to be gone yesterday. Weiner is so arrogant he is giving his opposition lots of opportunity to find even more dirt which let's face it is most likely out there.
The guy is a creep. My goodness even Harry Reid couldn't find any decent words to say about him on this matter. In fact, Harry threw him under the bus in a very direct and obvious way.
@FactsNotRhetoric
It's entirely reasonable to point out the hypocracy of republicans that blow a fuse over this but are silent when the scandal involves a republican. Newt Gingrich did far worse than anything Weiner has done but he's still viewed as a serious candidate for *PRESIDENT* by many republicans. Pointing out that hypocracy does not mean that we excuse what Weiner did. Quite the contrary -- here's one liberal that thinks Weiner should resign immediately. I'm sick and tired of politicians that lie.
Didn't break laws? Is filing a false statement against the law? "My Twitter account was hacked" The FBI was investigating. Ooops - they might be smart enough to look on his device and find his picture on his account. "Ok, I did it."
I hate when I feel that I have more maturity than our elected officials. That doesn't make me feel like we have "leaders."
factsnotrhetoric,
do you think newt has any reason to run? or should he just go hide in shame for his far more serious transgressions?
rhetoric
if, by some freak chance, newt was the republican nominee, would you vote for him?
GOP wants him to resign, I say it is now between him and his wife and his constituants,
GOP and their holier than thou attittude.
They need to make Vitter and Christie resign
It is time for Nancy Pelosi to make good on her promise to drain the swamp. And the first two reptiles to receive a deserved boot over the Potomac should be Rangel and Weiner. Whether they did anything 'wrong' can be debated. That they have brought the House into disrepute is beyond doubt.
Huh huh, huh huh....Hey Beavis
They are warning school girls to stay away from weiners. Buzzkill.
Gingrich won't get the nomination. He's a fat, dbag liar that only a few Republicans feel would be good as President. He'll do the same thing he did last time, he'll drop out midway.
Bottom line, ALL these dbags need to go. Vitter, Rangel, Weiner, etc.. But simply by virtue of their political party, people excuse their stupidity. People STILL make excuses for Edwards and Clinton, and those two are the biggest piles of sh!t on the planet.
But don't let me stop you from being partisan hacks. You're just part of those people I said were too stupid to figure out he lied to your faces......or too stupid to care.
Evidently in our party it takes a woman to do the right thing, hooray for Dem. Rep. Allyson Schwartz of Penn for being the first on our side to publicly call for Anythony Weiner's resignation...aside Anthony Weiner apologizing to Bill Clinton is just strange!
I'm glad we've all agreed he's the only member of Congress lying about anything.
Seriously folks. Time to move on.
At least one democrat has the guts to say what he needs to do.
I see many of my 'weak' Dems posting are truly that. They probably never said a word or pushed for lets say (R) Vitter who bought and paid for sex and not long after that lied for one of his staffers and paid, out of the office funds, to pay for the planefares for the staffer who was charged and found guilty of domestic abuse. Vitter who apologized, refused to resign and was re-elected. Hmmm - did his office funds pay fore the HO?
Let me mention (R) Ensign, who only resigned as the report for which he could be criminally charged was being delivered, therefore the RNC BS PR (drop the vowels from the jerk hearding the RNC party and that's what you get) can say Ensign resigned with honor -- BS. Ensign lied and did everything he could to hamper the ethics review. It took 2 years, not months as someone posted, for when the story released to when he resigned. (R) Cockburn should be investigated for his negotiation of the payment (criminal)
To see and hear the Dems - no wonder we frickin' get stepped on. Instead of Palin's reference of the British are coming -- it's 'the whimps (DEMS) are coming.
Reminder -- those that doth protest so much - don't open your closets as your ghosts will fall out.
His wife is pregnant. If I were she, I would abort immediately. There's too many creeps in this gene pool now.
Abort? doubtful, she's Muslim, I doubt she'll even get a divorce.
Weiner, Weiner, Weiner.
I am sick of this scumbag and all the "latest" news, i.e., all the girls he had twitter relationships with, he being a "dirty" husband, and now this; Huma is pregnant.
He deserves NO MORE ATTENTION. Get out of the Media; you are taking up too much time and space, for the important issues like the Economy and doing your elected job!
Resign, already---who needs more lies and deceit from this weasel. Mayor Bloomberg is a weasel, too--protecting this media bottomfeeder.
As far as the media, it won't happen Hawaii2.
The Mass Media craves these kinds of gossip fueled news deficient stories. It's their favorite kind of Weapon of Mass Distraction.
I agree though. He might as well resign because the story isn't going away until he does.
Weiner married Abedin, a close adviser to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, at a lavish ceremony on Long Island last summer. Former President Bill Clinton presided over the couple's wedding.
Wow! Talk about being a poor judge of character, and pregnant too. So much for the gene pool. And another Democrat on the way. This story just keeps getting sadder and sadder.
Judging from the number of posts on the subject, and all the attention it's getting elsewhere, it seems to me that the media is giving the population just what it wants... sensationalism without substance... Sex sells, they say...
Americans love their little sex scandals... We are a nation of voyeurs...
The media just feeds us what we want... News is fluff...
I notice MSNBC has hardly touched on the fact that he was twitter sexting with a porn star.
LOL this just gets better and better. His own colleagues think he's a joke and want him to leave, but the partisan hack libtards around here just keep insisting either they're justified in wanting him to stay because a Republican pervert wasn't removed from office, or it's his "personal" life that he, HIMSELF, made public.
Whatever helps you all sleep at night knowing you're backing the play of a liar who would lie to his wife. If you think he wouldn't lie to YOU, a stranger, you're high.
Seems to me, FactsnotRhetoric, people are responding to statement like yours, that Democrats like this are responsible for everything that's wrong with America, by reminding you that Republicans do the same (and much worse), and are re-elected. So you really shouldn't call someone else out as being partisan while spouting that ridiculous nonsense.
If you are going to make it about politics, why the hell act outraged when we respond in kind?
They should ALL go. I don't defend Vitter anymore then I defend Weintard. They're both liars and miscreants.
Difference here, I hold both sides accountable, not just one, then use the other to justify the actions of my side.
First all, what did you guys expect. The man had Bill Clinton preside at his wedding, BILL CLINTON! I wonder if the democrats asking him to resign are the same ones who supported Clinton during his sex scandal.
Here is what I think should happen. I think every member of congress should be asked to step forward and proclaim publicly whether or not Weiner should step down. But before they do, they must acknowledge, under pain of immediate dismissal and forfeit of all future benefits if they are ever discovered to be lying, whether or not they have any indiscretions in their own life.
See, here is my theory. Most these politicians could care less if Weiner or any of the rest of their colleagues had sex with farm animals in front of school children. What they cannot take is the embarrassment of getting caught. Morality doesn't even enter in to it.
Are you just going to ignore the x-rated pic MSNBC?
"Explicit photo is latest twist in Weiner scandal"
http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/06/08/weiner.explicit.photo/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
By the amount of voting here, it looks like most of us are all Weinerized out--.
Done, uninterested, past history. Let's move on; it will be another Dirty Politician, guaranteed. Republican or Dem, makes for a 50 per cent guess.
It's not hard for the Media to find their next victim, who blew up "Their Stair Way to Heaven". I guess they did not want their job that much.
I can't believe only 68% of the vote support his resignation! The guy is a flasher! And he seems to be so arrogant that he thinks he's above the law and should remain in Congress?!!! Have our standards for representation sunk so low?
I would fire anyone in my employ who sent out such photos! If I didn't fire that employee and our clients found out, my business would suffer. Shouldn't Weiner be held to the same... or higher standard! 68% only feel that way and that disturbs me!
I followed the link to the EXPLICIT link. How the heck can he stay in office knowing that America and the world are laughing at his Little Sizzler? I can just see the anti-Weiner campaign posters in the next election. His weiner will be plastered all over.
Oh, and Huma dear: You and the baby will be better off without this loser. Get a good attorney and get out of the marriage now. Guys like him never change. You deserve better!
facts not Rhetoric,
you said,
No, what is quite simple is this story and scandal has nothing to do with the GOP,
Yet the headline that led to this story was " GOP calls for Weiner to resign."
so while you are partially correct, it should have nothing to do with the GOP, they stuck their nose in, and made themselves a part of it.
If I stand up and say that you are a despicable person because of an act you committed, then my record becomes a part of that judgement as well. In other words, If the GOP wants to stand and call for his resignation, they should clean up their own house first.
Other than that I do agree with most of what you are saying. I am not one of those party hacks that thinks my party can do no wrong, and yours can do no right. Both parties have their share of creeps and criminals, yet both parties are quick to condemn the other for the same crimes they are guilty of themselves.
Although I am not a Democrat, I do feel that things like this are worse when committed by Republicans. Simply because of their stance.
If I stand up and stump about family values and morals, then violate those same ideals, not only am I an ass, but also a hypocrite.
So in a situation like this, weiner is an ass, but any Republican who calls for his resignation is an ass AND a hypocrite.
In my book that is worse.
Anybody that sends an "X" rated photo of themselves IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR.
When is America going to shake it's Puritanical roots? Who really gives a damn about any of this "scandal"? It wouldn't have made 4th page news in most European countries. The more Americans perseverate over nonsense like this rather than the real issues we face as a Nation, the quicker will be our demise as a nation. For F--- sake he's a member of Congress not your pastor!! Who cares??
@MarineDoc...
I'm just as surprised about all the attention this is getting as you are... I see a lot of self righteous posters going on and on about this... Some even want to see MORE pix... We have some screwy values in this country...War and blood and gore is fine, but let a nipple get exposed or some guys bulging crotch shot make its way into the press and suddenly it's a freaking CRISIS... It's laughable and sad all at the same time...
A nation of voyeurs with a guilty conscience I'm guessing...That's what you get in a sexually repressed society... sigh...
Does anybody realize that his wife is of Pakistani decent and practices Islam and speaks Arabic and grew up in Saudi Arabia where her mother is a professor, while Weiner is a Jew that dislikes Saudi Arabia and is pro-Israeli. This relationship was a failure from the start.
Bloggerrich:
Weiner is NOT a Jew!---A Jewish person has to have a Jewish Mother who birthed the child. From the Father's side, the child is not accepted as being Jewish, in Faith or Culture;, except for the fact, the parents together, decide to have the child Converted to Judaism.
Conversion is not accepted by the Orthodox Jewish Community. Many Jews sign Contracts in a Reform Temple by the Rabbi to raise their children of this faith.
Many Jews do not practice their Religion; they accept their culture. Many do not believe in G-d.
stay until 2012 tony weenie. I would like to see your democrat socialist linked name dragged threw the mud for at least a year. We need to know how our elected officials who have national security clearance can be so easily blackmailed. of course, if there was not blackmail material about you out there you would have never reached higher office.
Hey FactsnotRhetoric
U remind me of pachyderm operative Priebus, interviewed on the Faux Network by Greta Vansussterin(sp), in which she asked about possible double standards in the case of GOP NOT asking 4 Vitter 2 resign.
As I recall, he basically was TOTALLY ready, willing AND ABLE 2 talk about Weiner's weiner...but NOT about Louisiana pachyderm David Vitter's steady patronage of prostitutes !! HIS RESPONSE 2 Foxes Greta suddenly was an anemic, limp dish raggy desire 2 not wanting 2 'litigate' the Vitter scandal.
U pachyderms shur know how to dish it out, don't U...but can't take it yourselves...
typical pachyderm hyprocrisy.
I've got a suggestion 4 pachyderm politicians: How about U climb down off yor HIGH MORAL HORSIE and>>> stop preaching family values... while betraying your spouses while away at work...or engaging in homosexual liaisons
>>> or demanding people pull themselves up by their bootstraps and celebrate the "free" market, while U and yor white kollar buddies feed at the public trough, enjoying socialized health care provided by the tax payers U despise..or illegally give away gov't contracts and /or inflate costs beyond what there is, in order to line yor pockets
>>> or cry how much 'voter fraud' exists as a justification for enacting voter suppression legislation against low income, people of color, students and the elderly --- who COINCIDENTALLY historically have voted democratic party or 'liberal' positions...AND, while ALSO illegally conspiring to dump legitimate votes, while rigging voting equipment, while brazenly ignoring chain of custody of actual ballots, while casting EXTRA votes by hundreds or thousands beyond the number of actual registered voters in a precinct, while gerrymandering voting districts... "Blah Blah Blah... blah....blah.." to quote U, Mr. "FACTS" man, just the FACTS.
>>> or FABRICATING EVIDENCE to bully impoverished Americans into a war against a people who ACTUALLY could care less about our "freedoms," and more about how WE HAVE CONTINUOUSLY DENIED THEM THEIRS, WITH OUR BRAND OF JOHN PERKINS STYLE CAPITALISTIC, IMPERIALISTIC TERRORISM.
Yor party LACKS ANY MORAL AUTHORITY over Weiner's weiner.
Pachyderms quit claiming a monopoly over morality, go back to school and study history, math and science...4 starters. AND LEAVE THE HEAVY INTELLECTUAL LIFTING TO LIBERALS.
Someone said "anyone who sends naked photos of themselves is a sexual predator". That statement is about as ignorant as sending a naked photo of yourself to someone, even if you really know them. Not quite, but darn close in my estimation. I also find it amusing his last name is Weiner. Weiner got caught, being a wiener, by sending pics of his wiener to people he doesn't even know! One can hope that his public humiliation will force him to re-consider being in the public eye. Or better yet, cause him to be a bit more attentive to his pregnant wife.
How about Vitter? He isn't quitting and his public shame is much more disturbing. He paid for sex and admitted to it. He is currently a Senator, where is all the outrage? It must be okay, because he hates gays, supports no tax raises, and would rather our government cause world havoc than to fix the problem both of these parties have been causing for the past 30 years. It must be okay to bang women who screw for a living despite the fact that it is illegal in Louisiana. It must be okay because his wife loves his money enough to put up with it. Where is the outrage? Funny how the media treats these incidents very differently. Conservative media? Right!
If Vitter stays, and no one is outraged then calling for Weiner to step down is not fair. So I say this. Take all the immoral elected officials in government and have them step down. All of them, no exceptions. If they lied, out they go. If they said something they don't live, out they go. If they have been married more than once, out they go, especially those who cheated before moving on. If they use helicopters for personal reasons, out they go. If they overlook ethics violations, out they go. If they are fighting socialism which is part of our society, they must go. If they claim government workers get free health care and are paid too much, they must go. If they support contracting or privatizing government functions to private companies "permanent work", then they must go.
The problem with all this outrage is no one would be left. At least the problem of government would be gone. Without these guys/gals wrecking our country and curtailing our civil rights, things might actually get better. How many people are really needed to get things done up there anyway?
i just like seeing tony weener squirm, hes obnoxious. my heart goes out to his wife, even if she is a lib. pregnant with a husband who cant stop playing porn star with the youngins. she could have done much better. now its about the kid. he should reevaluate life and be mr. mom.
LOL.
"Look over here! Pay attention to anything but Weiner! If we prattle on about other stupid crap, maybe everyone wil forget it!"
Good argument, libtards.
So lying to constituents is bad now? Someone better tell the Republicans!
Republicans lie so often we are used to it from them. But heaven forbid a Democrat lie!
Peersen,
Why don't you learn to spell and use proper grammar before you comment with the big boys? You are the poster child of a generation that thinks that using "text speak" is acceptable in writing. The expression is also "couldn't care less" instead of "could care less."
The way you type leads me to believe that you are just spewing things that you hear, and don't have a genuine thought of your own.
Can we please stay on topic here? This is about Weiner, NOT about the GOP politicians who have done wrong. If you want to play that game, then I'll go there: Ted Kennedy killed a girl and got away with it then became the Liberal poster child.
Anybody that sends an "X" rated photo of themselves IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR.
This is a pretty inexcusably stupid statement. He didn't break any laws, and the pic was hardly X rated. He should resign because he's become a joke and nobody is going to want to work with the guy publicly. He's no longer able to effectively represent his constituents, but that's my opinion. Honestly, he should ask the people who voted for him. Go home and have a couple town halls or something, gauge reaction, then decide, this isn't a legal question it's one of morality and effectiveness - do they believe he's still the best man for the job? Up to them to decide, not other Congressmen or talking heads.
And Facts - way to show that unbiased side. You're practically oozing fair and balanced.
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Did democrats call for Chris Lee to resign?
Will R. (#3.84),
It's soo TYPICAL PACHYDERM to attack someone on a personal level and/or engage in nit-picking (ex: spelling, grammar, ass-u-ming to know specific personal qualities about a person w/out the benefit of actually knowing them, THEN proceeding to highlight those alleged qualities negatively ) ...
...when said pachyderm perceives he or his ideology has been successfully attacked,
...but is ill prepared to provide an effective, persuasive comeback.
Like I said to your fellow pachyderm, FactsnotRhetoric, U guys (referring to yor buddy, Mr. STD sounding Lance Priebus ) shur know how 2 dish it out, but can't take it. TYPICAL PACHYDERM HYPOCRISY.
This MSNBC forum is NOT a school term paper.
While there isn't the same pressure 2 be "economical" in these message boxes, as it is inside a twitter box, there IS, on some level, a somewhat relaxed atmosphere ( not as in school 1952, but rather an almost instant, electronic back and forth excitement as in texting on yor cell phone---where typing economically IS THE NORM, at .20 cents per message).
You were so ill prepared to engage me honestly U had 2 look to attack me NOT on the merits of the argument, but on whether I type like a teenager...whether U felt I knew how 2 spell.
Of course, U don't want 2 consider that there R LOTS of posters here whose spelling and/or grammar not up to certain standards...but they do manage 2 make their points.
I much rather engage in discourse with someone honestly, who is a REASONABLE speller and doesn't neglect to use enuff punctuation-- than a BLOWHARD POSER who, BTW, has some grammar issues of his own...
...WHERE'S your comma in yor LAST sentence, teacher ? "...Ted Kennedy killed a girl and got away with it then became the Liberal poster child."
1 OTHER thang...U had 2 go back almost 42 yrs. ago 2 the auto accident of Chappaquiddick 2 try 2 make a point ?? AND WHAT POINT WOULD THAT B ??...
...that dems fail high standards of morality or courage only once every 30+ yrs. ?? Surely U hadn't 4gotten about a recent demwho had been influence pedaling AND IS STILL SERVING on the hill, along with HORDES of repos who've done equal or WORSE ? !!
And FYI... TWO more grammatical corrections, teach...
... FIRST >>> The 3rd sentence in yor 1st paragraph... U need 2 delete the word " also. "
...SECOND >>> I chose the peersen idiom "could care less" rather than "couldn't care less," as a PURPOSEFUL, DELIBERATE way 2 describe the people of the region as MORE CARING, CONSIDERATE, CHARITABLE in their outlook, in regards 2 how THEY R capable of viewing people across the ocean.
CONTRAST THAT 2 how we more industrialized, imperialistic, hedonistic, types, who profess how much we LUV JESUS, reveal OUR outlook towards others we too often deem "lesser" in some way. IN FACT, our President Bush, V.P. Cheny and Donald Rumsfeld all have expressed attitudes in alignment with the "couldn't care less" view, in regards to Hurricane Katrina victims, U.S. soldiers with bullet riddled vests who were concerned about their pay getting deducted $600.oo or in finding the #1 PUBLIC ENEMY THEY CREATED by their unholy alliances in the mid-east.
I'll leave U and yor sore loser buddy David Prosser some advice. Develop a sense of humor... listen to some George Carlin, while sipping on a quart sized bottle of Prune Juice. hee hee
Unfortunately with todays morals, New York and Congress will give him a pass just like Barney Frank and Bill Clinton. The Republicans have done a lot of disgusting things, to at the same level of shame, but rarely are they given the same pass.
It isn't the sex, it's the lying. No one gives a flying eff about the sex. If you do, don't get into politics. If it hurts your psyche, don't get involved in politics. Politics is power and sex is linked to power for men. Just don't lie about it. Who really cares, if you are doing a good job in office.
Well the Repubs are the "sex police" so when one of theirs fall it is kinda different. You know all of us ole liberals are wild and crazy people anyway.
So is that D.C., where you are hanging out at? Or NY, or LA or ....? LOL
Look how long it took for Ensign to resign, And he actually dropped his pants on that one.
Ethics, morals and partisan politics aside, anybody who still hasn't figured out what can happen when you use the internet or SMS for "private" communication is simply too f***ing stupid to hold public office.
Kathryn Sullivan, post 4.3 - Speak for yourself, there are a lot of us lib/progressive democrats who are very traditional, believe in God, family values, and a lot of common sense, so please don't lump us all together in a "partier" group. That sounds more like SP from Alaska - she loves lots of parties as long as she is the center of attention and is able to "invent her own truths". Maybe she would like to ask Weiner to join her groupies.
Oh Grandma. Kathryn was joking.
And I don't know about SP, but 10 to 1 says that Bristol Palin is one of the Weiner Six
Unfortunately with todays morals, New York and Congress will give him a pass just like Barney Frank
What did Barney Frank do? You named Dems, but what about the GOP? Vitter (still in), Ensign (waited almost 2 years), Lee (gone), Craig (waited), Coburn (still in) for helping Ensign, etc. It's hypocritical to attack "liberals" for giving politicians a pass when the right-wing are spouting right-wing religious mores and then are just as guilty of protecting their own.
What did Barney Frank do?
Barney Frank's crime is being gay, doncha know? Can't get more immoral than that to these luddites.
I've lost count of the # of representatives/senators/others in office who've strayed in one way or another over the past few years. I've also grown tired of the "witch-hunt" expeditions that we, quite apparently, are PAYING for in one way or another.
Thought: Maybe it's time Americans get real about human beings, their imperfect nature and the fact that there is NOTHING anyone can to legislate or, worse, dictate morality. Try as you may and expect what you are inclined to expect, but these elected officials are nothing more than mere human beings with all the faults & foibles we all share. The REAL issue for them is one of power, privilege and opportunity. It seems more than apparent that a number of elected officials of the male persuasion, for whatever reason, seem to have a problem controlling their sexual inclinations and associated behaviors. Isn't it about time that we set aside fantasies of long-forgotten and long-lost "values" that no one has been able to live up to since the first human walked this earth? If it isn't "criminal", then what in the world are we worried about? If they are lacking in self-control in terms of what they do with their bodies and their marriages, as the case may be, let them eat cake and reap what they sow as LONG as they are doing their job(s) on Capitol Hill, that is. If it is a matter of a private nature and doesn't impact anyone other than their wives, husbands & families, Karma will eventually serve up its just desserts. . it always does!
As American citizens, we have the right to unseat anyone we choose via the electoral process. If you don't like the serial cheater you voted for in the last election, simply cast your vote for the next, new and unimproved, mere mortal that WILL fall short of your personal moral compass at some point in the future in some way, shape or form. THEN we start right back at "Go" and do it ALL over again.
George Washington had a mistress(s), ya know? Benjamin Franklin was nothing short of a rabid dog chasing women all over Paris, ya know? God KNOWS what skeletons are in Jefferson's & Jackson's closets, ya know? How long are we going to continue to beat this dead horse of an issue to freakin' death?
Yeah, Jefferson used his female slave(s) for sex. As ugly as it is, the type of people who are drawn to power are also the type of people who seem to need to break what we see as our cultural standards of morality. The type of people who don't feel that they know better than everyone else and who don't think they are above the rules also tend not to run for political office..
culheath,
What did Barney Frank do?
Barney Frank's crime is being gay, doncha know? Can't get more immoral than that to these luddites.
What an ignorant and uninformed electorate. Barney Frank's boyfriend was running a prostitution ring out of Barney's apartment in 1989. Also, your use of Luddite is incorrect. Being a Luddite means you are opposed to mechanization or in the modern definition, technology. WTF are they teaching in schools these days?
Dick Cranium...Oh puhlease...Enough with the self-righteous right wing BS. J. Edgar Hoover went after gays and he was a closet gay. So was that McCarthy mouthpiece Roy Cohn...all spectacular microphone mouths on the hunt to nail others, innnocent or not. Can you art least post without bias?
You should be more concerned about political liars who get us into wars and kill our kids just to make Halliburton, KBR and Blackwater big time profits. Mouth off about that and you get credibility.
It's the party of "Family Values" that makes their own swiftly resign. Mainly, because keeping them would prove how hypocritical the party is. (Of course, there's Senator Larry Craig, who wouldn't resign even though he plead guity to a crime of public sex!)
Weiner did nothing hypocritical. He texted naked pictures like so many other people in America--most before he was married. So who cares?
The point that most of you seem to be missing is that Representative Wiener, falsely, publicly accused Andrew Breitbart of committing the felony of hacking his Twitter account and posting "a picture" that "may or may not have been him"!
Although he didn't "report" the crime to the authorities, this is/was a clear cut case of defamation of character since he knew the accusation was false from the start. It is one thing to be sending pictures of you "junk", false accusations of a crime it something completely different.
My take on Wiener's "press conference" is that he was prepared to continue the lie but once he found out Breitbart was there defending himself Wiener had to have a quick "Come to Jesus" meeting with his staff and "spill the beans", so to speak! Why else would it have taken Wiener over 20 minutes to come to the podium? They were busy rewriting his speech!
He was, still, so self centered and angry about being exposed it wasn't until several reporters in the room asked him if he was going to apologize to Breitbart that he, finally, made a cursory apology. You could almost see him choking on the words.
Breitbart will probably just "stand by his investigation and reporting" and let it drop but he probably has grounds to sue Wiener in civil court. If Breitbart does let it drop Wiener can thank his lucky stars!
Funny, in all those press conferences I heard him (Weiner) claim he was hacked but I never once heard him name said hacker specifically. What a story you made up. You should write fiction.
Read about what Barney Franks boyfriend was doing and running out of his place before you give Barney a pass just because he is gay. Try Google or Bing - they both work. Barney's biggest crime was lying to the American people about Fannie and Freddie being solvent and being one of the biggest reasons the housing market is in the toilet.
Sally... try a Google search. Weiner did in fact the credibility of Breitbart. Before Weiner's press conference to confess to his lies, Breitbart was on the stage taking questions from reporters. Weiner actually apologized to him for making false accusations.
I don't put all Republicans in one group so don't you people put us liberals in one group . We are just as God fearing and Church going and good Christians as any Republican out there . Also we don't believe in abortion like you REP> we have our morals just like any body else . But there is one thing that I have that some of you that are on this page don't have and that is forgiveness . GOD said in his Word that if we don't for gave others then he will not forgive us . Just thank about it . everybody deserve a second chance. I really believe this .
Religion isn't right wing, it's all wings.
Being a liar and a serial cheat shows low moral character. Why is this even a debate?
You do not need to be religious to be of good moral character, and most people still value people who tell the truth and are trustworthy.
Both of our major parties have tolerated bad behavior, and we need to expect better. Just because there are sleazeballs in the world does not mean we should tolerate them in public service. Especially not at this level.
It was a trap set by Republicans to snag weiner. Plain and simple.
The girls were plants, and of course, this could not have happened if Weiner had not participated.
Paul F., exactly. I cannot believe that so many are defending this pervert that wasn't even man enough to admit his mistake. No, he had to lie and blame someone else. This is a man you want in government????
He should be left twisting in the wind for about a year and a half. Great poster boy for Dems come Nov 2012.
No!!! Anthony Weiner should not resign from his office as an elected public servant. You see America history has shown that there is no honor in serving in an elected office. Just because "we the people" know about Anthony Weiner choices.........doesn't mean that the citizens who in the past and present haven't done things that would shock our conscience. So grow up American Citizens........remember it is not the office or the uniform that makes the person; it is the office and the uniform that the person tries to live up to. We have all become perverted in our behaviors and choices when we as a nation decided to do what is right in our own eyes and refusing to obey God instructions for mankind. So just get up off your high horse and say "there for the grace of God go I." There is none good; sin is sin as far as God is concern whether you believe in God or not!!! I say Anthony Weiner is not as bad as David in the bible; and God said "David is a man after my own heart." And do not get me started with Moses who was a murder and God used him to free the Jews from Egypt; then we have Abraham who married his half sister Sara and God used Abram. Who are we to judge when we know only God can judge us where it counts. Remember the Lord Jesus Christ came for the sinners not the righteous. If you want the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you; you must be a forgiving citizen of the earth. Anthony Weiner is only a human being who needs a savior just like "we the people." I am not talking religion; I am talking brotherly love and forgiveness.
Is it the Democratic party or is it the Jewish American party? I'm just saying....
Wonder if he went by "Ant" in high school? Hmmm...Ant Weiner! Love it! Need that cool non-Jewish 1st name so the Italians, blacks and Puerto Ricans don't beat your a$$ through high school.
When will you be on Howard Stern? One pervert deserves another. Will it be before or after you resign? Get with the former mayor for some tips on keeping your bitc**s straight. Whoops, he couldn't do it either. I know, I know! You've been trained all your life, by your mother, that if you throw enough money at it, it will go away! But "Mutha" never knew the internet was coming. And now, Oy VeY! Yes Ant Wiener...Oy Vey!
The Zionist fuc***g of the United States will have to wait for the next hot dog to come along. Maybe it will be a Nathan's or a Hebrew National! One thing is for sure, it should be blessed by a Rabbi. Maybe Spielberg will make a movie about it and throw a Nazi/White Supremacist twist in so you can be portrayed as the "hot dog hero"? Maybe?
Just wanted to share it with the women who deserve you, right? I really don't care if you keep it in your pants, but it might not be something I would call Twitter worthy.
OK. Time to delete this before I actually post it.
OH CRAP! I HIT POST COMMENT!
Hey NY...wake up, you are the Palestinians and these low lifes are Israel. You will continue to lose power over your state and its politics if you keep letting these pro-Israel jerks take over and run your state.
Dear Grandma 35, U don't need 2 get yor panties in a knot over a casual remark by one Kathryn Sullivan, who seems 2 have made a jokingly sarcastic observation ABOUT PACHYDERMS more than about us libs.
OUR trademark is nuanced thinking...NOT getting inappropriately offended...unless THAT, of course, was NOT really yor intention...but rather, 2 possibly "show" pachyderm readers on this string THAT WE LIBS R JUST AS 'Amerikan' AS THE NEXT GUY !!
More libs need 2 get down with humor and sarcastic putdowns of pachyderms...and less biting of other libs...THAT IS 2 SAY, IF U REALLY R A LIB..and NOT just a pachyderm pretending 2 B liberal ?? hee hee
ya see how it works ?? :>))
Wait, I couldn't make this cr&p up if I tried. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hum-a-Weiner! That's just way too funny!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
DBW - forgiveness and reaping the consequences of behaviors are different and both can mutually exists. Also, being judgmental about a person's motives is different from being discerning when evaluating the person's behavior.
The silence from the democrat leadership is surprising sluggish, don't you think? Pelosi suggests this issue be turned over to the Ethics Committee, lol! What a joke that is.... it will take them 12-18 months to make a decision, meanwhile he continues to hold office! He deserves more punishment than that!
Weiner needs to be hung by his! on the other hand he may get excited by that, Hard to come up with punishments when you are dealing with a perv
Of course if the GOP has their way, no school girls will be warned anymore about the hazards of weiner. lol
Instead school girls will be left to learn about the hazards of weiner, the hard way.
did you know that it was none other than Bill Clinton who officiated at Weiner's wedding? How ironic is that?
ilike how everyone keeps attacking weiner and ignoring the vern buchanan scandal...
he actually did things that were illegal and hes been pretty much ignored, everyones too focused in on the anthony witchhunt to give a damn about a truely corrupt politician who effectively cheeted his way into office, go figure
I hope the Democrats leave the Weiner in there. The Pubs could take his XXX rated picture with a star over his bits and the Captions would be priceless:
A Vote for the Democrats is a Vote for Nuts like these.
Would you Vote for this Dick?
The Democrats shot their Wad. It's time for the Party of Weiners to withdraw.
Yeah the Pubs will be laughing all the way to a Senate takeover. Keep defending him with your party of Weiner Values, Please!
Weiner's refusal to resign is a gift to the GOP. And if he remains, it will be the gift that keeps on giving. Anyway, Weiner seems to have a lot of weenie followers judging from all the collapsed posts.
"Does she think Weiner should resign? "I'm not getting into that," she (Pelosi) demurred."
I guess she has one standard for Republicans and another for fellow Democrats. How hypocritical. She'd be screaming at the top of her lungs if Weiner was a Republican - along with cries of the need to "Drain the swamp" and a 'Culture of corruption".
Not true.
Cantor wants Weiner to resign, but he supported Sanford Ensign and Vitter. As a matter of fact Diaper Vitter received a standing ovation when he came on the floor after breaking the law.
Everyone is talking about Clinton, but remember Newt who was going after him all the while "sleeping" with his intern and then dumped his wife while she was on an hospital bed fighting cancer.
Santorium threw Ensign mistress husband under the bus and backed Ensign, when he went to Santorium for help. Coburn also supported Ensign and you did not hear anyone asking Ensign to resign. Yet Santorium has the nerve to ask Weiner to resign.
When you compare all these politicians to Weiner, he is guilty of being stupid and like most men lied when he got caught. He broke no laws unlike Vitter and Ensign
Republicans should not gloat and claim 'if it was a Republican", since no matter how bad a Republican is they are supported fully by their colleagues. Democrats should immediately resign. Republicans should be left up to their families. Hypocrisy rules.
I've watched Weiner on the news lying in order to sink a business he hated. It was dispicable. And now after seeing the way he has handled himself in this scandal with all his lies and denials, my opinion of giving him a chance has lowered dramatically. He's a filthy liar and loud-mouthed dirtbag who should not be allowed to stay in congress.
The reason why liberals make an issue when a conservative does this, is usually because the conservative's political record consists of pro marriage laws, anti gay laws, pro church laws etc...if his record is such, than he should be judged the same. Its not the incident that a conservative does, its the hypocrisy of the conservative.
The biggest problem with your analogy is that most the time the conservatives resign, the liberals don't and continue to denigrate Congress or the White House.
like Larry Craig? Im not saying he should stay or go. He didn't commit a crime, but was an idiot for sure. People can do what they want in their own homes or private residence. Bush lied about Iraq, and people re elected him so save your self righteousness for your own ;)
We got ya....liberals have no ethics so they can't be accused of violating any.
Thanks for clarifying, but many of us already knew that.
Maybe Pudding, but at least most of us don't have that religious fervor that calls for revenge at every turn.
So you're in the "Bush lied" crowd...figures. I guess Bush was smarter than Hillary, Kerry, and the rest of the democrats that voted to go back into Iraq.
Again......where do you hang out......I wanna know where the loose girl saloon is!
Not talking about Bush or Iraq, am referring to the Republicans who have made an art out of eating their young.
Worry about your side knowing American history and what Paul Revere did, and less about whether someone sent a pic of his underwear and lied about it. Aren't there more important things for people to spend time and money on? Really?
That's the way I look at it, too....the Dems are not usually talking all kinds of nonsense about Jesus, so it doesn't bother me as much when it's one of them. That said, unless something illegal has taken place, it doesn't really bother me at all, except for the aforementioned hypocrisy- although I find it more of an excuse to bust chops than to get angry about it.
I'll tell you what DOES make me angry: the fact that no Wall Street Bankers went to prison, very few if any resigned, and most of those still standing got fat bonuses. THAT is the kind of thing that ACTUALLY bothers me....of course, I'm also not too happy that the media spends more time talking about A. Weiner than that issue...
Yup, nothing like that ol'double standard. Republicans are for family values so they should be crucified when caught doing the sexually inappropriate, democrats are given a pass since they're the party of... no family values? Anything goes? It's ok for me to lie since I'm a democrat and we have no morals? We hold democrats to a much lower standard? Us democrats give our lying, cheating representatives a pass for immorality because we don't believe in God?
Sad that the democrat/liberals have sunk so low. But then, this is not surprising. Hard to defend a married man sending pics of his erect anatomy and naked body to strange women while making absurbd sexual innuendoes over the internet. Fess up, you're ashamed but are too stubborn or immoral to admit it.
The "joke" weiner was making when he sent the pic was that you could tell he is a Democrat because he has no balls.
Democrats united wall of unthinking stupidity is legendary... how else does a U.S. president receive applause for insulting Americans with the president of Mexico? or cowards who run from their jobs to hide become "heroes"?
@mygirl1 - you're an idiot, plain and simple. Explain the passes given to David Vitter, Newt, Larry Craig, etc. Wanna play tit for tat...you'll lose! Why not keep your sanctimonious BS to yourself! What is your position on Ensign??
DB explain the use of this nonsense "Jesus was a Liberal". Both parties are full of nonsense - not just the Republicans.
drano: little man, you want excuses for inappropriate behaviour or you want to single out one group of miscreants and hold them accountable while giving another group a pass? That smacks of hypocrisy and as to my being an idiot, your calling me an idiot because I question your hypocrisy make you a typical hypocritical liberal. I would add idiot but that would be redundant.
You're all idiots for arguing over an issue that will never be fully resolved as it relates to politicians and their penchant for perverted behaviors. Party notwithstanding, it doesn't take much gray matter to grasp the fact that this type of sordid behavior has been going on since the beginning of government in this Republic.
Neither party has the right to talk about "values" when they demonstrate in every conceivable way that they have none. It's the proverbial pot calling the kettle "black." I know I'm not drawn to a candidate for their professed moral superiority and, quite frankly, am not concerned with it unless they've demonstrated what would be considered criminal behavior in that regard. I can wish and hope and pray for a perfect human to materialize and take the high road, but it isn't going to happen. Every single solitary candidate can & will disappoint me or you in some way, shape or form, eventually. It's the nature of the beast known as imperfection. Nobody can please everybody all of the time. But, BOY can they disappoint and MAN can the witch-hunters do a bang up job keeping us so distracted that we fail to notice the REAL atrocities of MALFEASANCE ON THE JOB!
Let's move along now. The next REAL crisis is lurking around the corner. We're a sad lot of pretty sick tickets these days! EVERYBODY is a hypocrite. . .sometimes!
What is less amusing that this Reps behavior, is how quickly this turns into a liberal vs conservative spit fight. Grow up...this man is unlike any other self absorbed narccisist who feels he is above everyone else because he holds a public office. Our country is slipping into an abyss of immorality and you want to argue politics?!?!?!? By the way, just as many women reduce themselves to the "harmless" sex fun of the internet. The difference here is, Wiener had an obligation to have higher standards because of his position. There is a reason there are ethics hearings, although much of them now seem like three ring circus acts...
E Hall..uh...How do you get here? Sex. Was it some bizarre mechanical rite of spring? Or a religious ceremony where in Big Momma and Big Daddy had the very Reverend Righteous monitor your conception?
The United States is one of the few countries of the world that is still a bunch of Victorian prudes. Men will always have high levels of testosterone hormone which means they'll always be on the march to do what nature has endowed them with...the ability to continue mankind. However, insipid or immoral a duty you may consider that. As for women, nature also endowed them with a duty to take part in the natural inclination.
Unless you are planning to turn men into eunochs and women into virgins, your "immorality" campaign isn't going to work. Most of us know that children must be protected from predators. But, will you be the first to deny First Amendment rights to media producers of blatant smut? All we can do is teach our children right from wrong. That includes judging others as they judge themselves, playing fair and listening to their conscience.
Nature is nature, yes, I agree. However, using the internet to display his private parts is dispicable. My post relates more to the idiocy of our government representatives. If this was Joe Schmoe, we would never hear about it. Why becuase it IS normal and acceptable in our society. The issue that you so blatantly ignored with your rant, is his responsibility to the constituents he represents by acting with higher standards and ethics! Everyone does IT, even dogs, but it doesn't make it right when he is a married man!
E Hall...You know it's inappropriate and I know it's inappropriate. Think back when things were far more austere than they are today. People's minds weren't as much in the gutter. Why? Excess. Until people in this country see the destructiveness of excess as part of too much money, they will never stop the kinds of inappropriate behaviors that is "excessive".
One thing I never ignore is responsibility. I bitch about lack thereof constantly. We all know we must be responsible for our actions. When men cannot learn to stop denying what they do and take blame without using excuses..life will be appropriate.
I am, at present, disgusted with what some men in this country have become. But, I am equally disgusted with some women as well. When men and women choose money before human life, how does everything not go downhill from there? When wealth is more important than staying home and raising your children, how can children learn responsibility?
I do agree with your points. It doesn't relieve Wiener of his poor choices and lack of ethics. I would love to be able to afford to stay home with my child, but alas, the father refuses to pay his support and life in America is far to expensive to live without working, unless of course you enjoy being a ward of the welfare system. I refuse, so I educated myself and I work hard to provide. Adultery destroyed my marraige and I will always be appalled when this nonsense occurs either by a man or a women. It is wrong, unacceptable and unexcuseable.
I want to keep Weiner in office - he is now completely ineffective as a mouthpiece on anything that he decides to talk about. He will be a great help to the Repubs any time he opens his mouth.
We got ya....liberals have no ethics so they can't be accused of violating any. Thanks for clarifying, but many of us already knew that.
I think you missed the point Pudding. The GOP are the ones who claim to have superior moral values. So, when they get caught acting just as immoral as everyone else, it is twice as bad, not only are they immoral, but they are hypocrites as well!!
Its amazing how so many republicans seem to forget about all the immoral behavior from the GOP like Ensign, Vitter, Craig, Lee, Stanford, Ginrich, Delay, Swartzenagger, Guiliani, and I can go on. Maybe you should all stop, think and remember about their behavior because compared to them what weiner did is minor
Blah blah blah Vitter blah blah blah don't pay attention to who the story is about blah blah blah.
That's all you libs are posting today.
Deflect, deflect, deflect. Change that subject as fast as you can so you don't have to talk about the Democrat pervert.
Hey Facts, lets just talk about Mark Foley, Rick Scott and all of these scumbags. I don't care if they are dems, indep or repubs They all need to go period. I know your thinking Rick Scott who the heck is this guy, let me introduce you to him. The new Florida Governor, you know the one who pleaded the fifth 75-95 times during his trial for ripping off the American people by over charging the medicare and medicaid to the tune of almost a billion dollars. Imagine that a republican stealing from the American people, say it ain't so. So the good people of Florida thought it was a good idea to put him into office, no wonder our country is going to hell in a basket so quickly. We as Americans deserve what we get simply by putting these idiots into office period. Why do you think they've made the laws so that a normal person w/o money can not run for office? So corporate America can decide our fate.
They DO all need to go. Rangel, Vitter, Wiener. ALL of them. If we can't trust you with small sh!t, I'm definitely not trusting you with running the country.
It just amazes me that people are like "Well, the Republicans did it, so it's okay that Weiner did it! Get off his back!". WRONG. Two wrongs do not make a right.
They all need to get the hell out of here. The rest of the world watches this crap and laughs at us. How can anyone take us seriously at this point? We can't balance our budget, almost 20% of our country is unemployed, and our leaders are too busy tweeting dick pics to college coeds to fix it. Awesome.
If his wife had any brains or self-esteem, she'd be gone, even though it's now reported she's pregnant. I wouldn't want to raise a kid with, or live with a LYING sack of sh!t that I couldn't trust. He needs to bugger off and disappear.
What is with these people who think all conservatives are religious and liberals are atheists?
I'm a Republican and I am a devout atheist. And I know liberals that are very religious...usually Jewish and black baptists. I mean c'mon...look where your President went to church. Does he seem to be an atheist to you liberals? NO! Liberals are about as clueless as any group can be. It is really laughable. Just because you are "liberal", so you think you are, doesn't mean you are actually a liberal or are liberal. It really is a joke of a party. Even slick Willy seemed to have to hold back the laughing at his own constituents. I mean, what do you say to a bunch of morons that have no clue why they voted for you? Obama had the same laugh. he just couldn't believe the BS his constituents were falling for. It was almost like, "Really...they are voting for me?" "Why?" "You mean, I now have to live up to the BS I told them?"
Facts not Rhetoric, I have a question.
Have you ever had sex? Then why do get so bent out of shape because an elected official did?
I don't care if they are DEM or GOP, that is not relevant. Did they take a vow of celibacy as a condition of holding office?
My other question is, Regardless of party, did they violate a law? last I checked there was no law against sending nude pics of yourself (assuming you are an adult) to another adult.
Nor is it against the law to lie to police. it is illegal to lie under oath, but if he was not before a judge, and under oath he can lie his face off all he wants.
IF you want to remove every politician that tells any lie, our government would instantly collapse. we would have zero politicians left. Every single one of them lies. they have to, if they told the truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the truth, we would not elect them.
It is sort of like two teens having sex for the first time. She asks "will you still respect me in the morning?" and he says "yes of course" it is a lie, and she knows it is a lie, but if he tells her the truth, he ain't getting any, and they both know it. so we dance the dance.
The thing that blows my mind is, we know they lie, we know that we would never elect them if they told the truth, so in a way we force them to lie, then we have the audacity to be angry when they get caught in the lies we force them into.
amazing is it not?
For f#$k's sakes, what part of WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PIC, WE CARE ABOUT THE LYING do you libtards not get?
And trying to give him the excuse of "I expect them to lie, We force them to.". Are you f%$king kidding me? I didn't force Weiner to tweet his dick to some random coed. I didn't force him to call a news conference and insist he got hacked. I didn't force him to keep that lie going for over a week until he figured out the FBI was gonna start looking into it. He's an idiot, and you're an idiot for backing him. He thought SO LITTLE OF YOU, that he thought you were TOO STUPID to figure out he was lying. And you STILL back him up. You're like the abused wife, going back for another asswhooping, insisting this time will be different.
This isn't about Bush, but nice strawman argument.
Try again libtard. Either address your pervert Democrat, or go back to your "We Hate Bush" Facebook page and bleat along with the other sheep.
"Herp derp, hello. I'd like to compare these oranges to your apples. I hear they are very similar."
LOL.
libtard? thats A new one. I didnt know I was a liberal. I am sure as HELL not a democrat. If by libtard you mean in touch with reality, then I guess i am guilty.
But let us look at what you have said, shall we?
WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PIC
I didn't force Weiner to tweet his dick to some random coed
Hmmm, A bit contradictory Ya think? if you don't care about it, why are you still talking about it?
He's an idiot, and you're an idiot for backing him.
He is an idiot, i agree. I didn't know I was backing him tho...... you might want to get your psychic antenna adjusted, you got me all wrong. I never said a word about backing him.
He thought SO LITTLE OF YOU, that he thought you were TOO STUPID to figure out he was lying.
Here you seem to get a little confused. Every American knows he is a liar, and he knows that every American knows it. The fact that he is a Liar was proved beyond a shadow of a doubt the day he was elected to office. If he was not a liar, he would never have been elected and we all know it.
It is kind of like saying only things with wings can fly. So if you see something flying, you know it has wings.
You're like the abused wife, going back for another asswhooping, insisting this time will be different.
Nope, i knew it would be no different. The moment any politician stops lying, he is dead.
You are like the abused housewife, who enjoys being beaten, and pretending that you are not being beaten, until someone sees it happen, then you want to get all pissed, and act like this is some new and unfathomable thing, all while surfing the Internet for men convicted of domestic violence for your next husband.
Again, I do not support Weiner. Never have Never will. The difference between you and I, I don't care about the pic, nor do I care about the lie. Politicians lie, it is what they do, it is their job. A politician that does not lie will never be elected.
Do you get angry at dogs for barking? At ducks for Quacking? At rain for falling?
Get back to me when he breaks an actual law, then I will jump on your bandwagon.
in the meantime, have you ever told a lie? even a little one? If so, then how DARE you be angry at him, for a crime you are guilty of?
You hypocritical sleazebag. You and Weiner can share a room in hell because you are two peas from the same pod. Don't feel bad though, every other human on the planet,(me too) will be there, because WE ALL LIE!
Get over yourself, you are only angry because he is of the opposite party from you.
And if you honestly believe that Americans would elect politicians if they told the truth about everything, then you truly are confused beyond hope.
He is an idiot, i agree. I didn't know I was backing him tho
Have you ever had sex? Then why do get so bent out of shape because an elected official did?
My other question is, Regardless of party, did they violate a law? last I checked there was no law against sending nude pics of yourself (assuming you are an adult) to another adult.
Yup.....totally not backing him....
LOL. Idiot.
THAT is your entire rebuttal, one whole word, and the word you chose was "idiot"?
Wow, your powers of debate and higher thought have left me dumbfounded and reeling. I may have to go call an ambulance now.
That is not backing HIM, that is backing RULE OF LAW. you know, violate one, go to jail, dont violate one, dont go to jail?
I know you think that every person who uses the word Democrat in conjunction with their name should be instantly sentenced to life in prison, but I prefer to let them actually break a LAW before sentencing.
PS Just because I disagree with you, does not mean that I agree with mr Weiner. I simply don't give a sh!t about him. HE is a nobody in my book, i am not one of his constituents, he can f*ck the entire population of new york, and it will have zero impact on my life. I simply dont care.
I think you are just a little angry because he has a sex life, and you dont.
Why not sum it up in one word after you blatantly discredited yourself within two posts?
And you thinking is like Obama stopping talking and getting something done. Both never happen.
I discredited myself by saying if a man breaks a law he should be held accountable regardless of his party, and if he did not break a law, his sex life is his own business regardless of his party. That is a discredit?
The only discredit is your own, by assuming that you know all about me, simply because you disagree with me. So because i don't toe the same line as you, I must be an idiot, and unable to think.
you must hold a very high opinion of yourself, thinking that not only are you flawless and infallible, but that all humans must agree with you to be anything more than a thoughtless idiot.
What a strange strange world you must live in....
No, you discredited yourself by saying you weren't sticking up for him, then proceeded to make excuszes for him.
Like I've said before, to many other people. You're basically saying that ethics, morals, and integrity aren't really all that impotant to you in a public official.
Honestly, if this guy had just said "Yeah, I did it. I'm sorry. I was stupid. Please forgive me." , hell, even I would have been like "Meh, he admitted it and we can move on.". But no. Instead, we have him calling a press conference, lying to the entire country, calling a journalist a jackass when he kept asking questions, then tearfully admits it was him when he knew it was coming time for law enforcement to get involved and he would have committed a crime.
Just own it. I LOVED Clinton, and the only big thing I can say about him is I lost SO much repsect for him when he lied about Lewinsky. Just admit it. Who cares? You can't even be re-elected, you're on your second term!
The fact that this man thought the American public as a whole was SO stupid that they would just take his word for it was strike two. Then we find out he was trying to pay off a porn star so she would shut up. That's strike three. His own fellow Democrats at the Capital want him to leave. He's a running joke on shows that normally ONLY ridicule Republicans for christs sakes.
If I was in that situation, I would probably would have lied in panic and screwed myself over big time. There's always the temptation of the hope that it can be dusted under the rug. I think it's the same reason why if a person pulls a gun on you and asks you to get in the trunk of a car or whatever, you do what that person says, because you just can't admit that your life ended the minute the weapon was aimed at you.
Later on, you realize the full extent of what you have to do to live that lie, and how it can snowball into evil, and that fosters the courage in you to admit your wrongdoing, and after that, descend into darkness. I think Weiner did it pretty fast, all things considered. Then again, this is the age of the internet: perhaps blackmail is a thing of the past now that we know that no information is confidential and that it can be investigated and exposed at lightning fast speeds.
Oh, I have no doubt that had the internet existed since 1776, ALL of our presidents would be involved in more scandal then they were.
24 hour news cycles!
Rhetoric not facts,
Please show me the post where I defended him. I assure you, I did no such thing.
I simply stated he broke no law, ergo I don't give a flip. I also stated that every politician lies, it is a job requirement. that is not in his defense, but rather a blanket statement of a well know fact. Some people, like yourself apparently, seem to think that their favorite politicians are good honest upstanding versions of Jesus Christ incarnate, and can do no wrong. In reality, every single one, even the best of them, is nothing more than a self-serving hypocrite and liar. We know this when we elect them, then act all shocked when they get caught. It is really quite funny, or it would be if it was not so sad.
I don't know anything about the man, he may have been inept before this silly scandal broke. Then again he may have been the greatest man to walk the Earth since the year 23 AD.
Send him to the gallows for all I care. Personally however, I don't care that he tried to keep this hidden. Would you care to know why?
Because I myself have been caught in a compromising position, and tried to lie my way out of it to save my "relationship" with my girlfriend at the time. (It did not work.)
So to castigate him for something I have myself done would make me a hypocrite, and in my book that is even worse than a liar.
You are screaming and fuming about moral bankruptcy, but I will be willing to bet my life savings that your morals are right in line with Mr. Weiner's.
So tell me, Oh Great and Reverent One, have you ever told a lie? EVER? Even one? Even a little tiny harmless one? Like when you Girl asks "Does my ass look fat in this outfit?" And the truth is it really does, but you said "hell NO" didn't you?
Yes? Then shut the Fock up, and come back when you are perfect.
I've alredy showed you where you exucsed his behavior. I'm not going to repeat myself. Learn to read or shut up.
Repeating an accusation is not showing where I defended him, what you claim was my defense I explained to you was not, and how and why it was not. You ignored it, then tell me I need to learn to read.
Send him to the gallows for all I care
I guess you think that is defending him.
I would hate to think what you call opposition, if you call that defense.
I also notice you completely avoided my charge against you. Are you indeed the hypocrite you seem to be here, or are you in fact flawless?
Maybe I can clarify this just a bit for you.
Nothing that I have said was in defense of, or an excuse for the behaviour of Mr. Weiner.
What I was trying to explain to you was, I judge other people by the same standards I judge myself. If I am guilty of a particular behaviour, I don't get all bent out shape when someone else does it.
It is a novel and foriegn concept, I know, but you should really try it sometime.
If you have never told a single lie in your life, EVER, or have never gotten caught by a Girlfriend in a situation you should not have been in, and tried to cover it up, then by all means feel free to crucify Weiner.
But if you have, and the assumption that you are human being indicates that you have, then you have no right to say a word here.
As I have made this charge at least three times now, and you have failed to answer even once, I have no choice but to conclude that you know you are being a hypocrite, but are not man enough to admit it.
I am not a Christian, but there are a few things that Christ said that I have taken to heart, and try my best to live by.
First, Treat other as you would have them treat you,
Second, Let he who has no sin cast the first stone.
This second one in particular I find to be very important. If you chose in the depths of your hypocrisy to hold that as defense for Weiner, then there is nothing more that I can say for you, You truly are a lost cause.
So to "castigate him for something you yourself has done would make you a hypocrite", huh?
When did you hold office? When did you call a press conference to further your lie nationally? When did you call a reporter a "jackass" when he wasn't buying the lie? When did you slander the man who found out the truth about you, calling him a bottom feeder and the worst type fo human being?
Us telling a lie to someone, and him televising a lie are two seperate things.
Have you ever had sex? Then why do get so bent out of shape because an elected official did?
Defense 1. Make it about the sexual scandal, and not about the lying.
My other question is, Regardless of party, did they violate a law? last I checked there was no law against sending nude pics of yourself (assuming you are an adult) to another adult.
Defense 2. Making it sound like since he didn't break the law, there is nothing unethical or lacking integrity in what he did.
Look, I'll be real with you. I too am an Afghan/Iraq war vet. My PTSD and the pain medications I take for losing half of my leg give me ......well, let's just say wild mood swings. What I SHOULD have said to you is that the sex wasn't the problem, the lying and the deceit and the lack of integrity while holding a public office is. What you said made it SOUND like you were trying to give him an excuse for his behavior, and I latched onto that and attacked you, and for that, I am sorry. Please try to see it from my point of view, though.
Thank you, Apology sincerely accepted. And I do try to see it from your point of view. I try to do that in every situation, though I confess I often fail. Just because I disagree with you, whoever, does not mean I think your point is invalid. That is the beauty of debate!
I most certainly sympathize, (and share your strife,) when it comes to mood swings, pain meds, and PTSD. I, by the mere Grace of God and luck, managed to come home mostly whole, at least in a physical sense. If you consider two shoulder surgeries,(with a third scheduled), and Doctors insisting they need to operate on my back,(which I will allow only IF I am ever confined to a wheelchair), all before the age of 28, whole. I will be 36 later this month, so I have been dealing with this mess for some time now. Believe me when I say I know your pain.
I also apologize, as I read back I have been inconsiderately confrontational at times as well.
My response:
As to Defense one, the sex scandal is a part of it, whether we like it or not. It seems that you and I agree however that this is not the crux of the problem. I did not intend that as deflection in attempt at defense, I misunderstood you at the time, and assumed that this was a major part of your issue with his behaviour. I stand corrected.
As to Defense two,
This is difficult, as you do raise a very valid point here. Again, I can only assure you, on my integrity as a man of honor, that although my statement here does indeed look much like intent to defend, that is not so. I am not saying what he did was right, nor am I saying it was wrong. I am saying, in the grand scheme of things, it is small potatoes.
ONe point here that our opinions do differ, You seem to differentiate between his lying, and mine or yours, because of his job, and the fact that he is in the national spotlight. I disagree, A rose is a rose is a rose, to me. The only reason that my lies have never been nationally telecast, is simply that I am not in a position that I am expected by the media and the public to make public statements.
I don't feel that a person's job or position makes them any better, or for that matter even any different than I, nor do I feel that such a position holds him to a higher standard than I hold my self or any other human.
I have never understood this mentality that many have that our politicians are special, or that they should act or behave in a different way than any other person. It seems to me that the last 20 years or so of Internet and 24 hour coverage, and the almost constant stream of scandal exposed by them, should stand as very solid evidence that I am right about this. They are no different than you or me.
I mean be honest with me, If you had access to porn star, and she wanted pics of your dick, tell me you would not jump at the chance. I sure as hell would, and if I got caught, you can bet your ass I would come up with one hell of a story to try and keep my wife. Does that make me a bad person, or stand as proof that I have no moral integrity? Perhaps. Or perhaps it just proves that I am human, and not perfect. (If it is proven that he did indeed spend money that was not his to pay her off, I will be sorely upset if he does not spend time in prison.)
One thing I would not do, however, under any circumstances, is to attempt to hold some one else accountable for something that in all honestly I would probably do myself.
Another point here, that you may or may not agree with, morality is subjective. There are many different versions of it. What I find to be perfectly acceptable, you may hold reprehensible. While I personally feel that abortion is wrong, there are many who disagree. While I think that there is nothing wrong with a man having several women in his sex life at once, (provided everyone is aware, and agrees) others clearly disagree.
So who's version of morality shall we hold everyone accountable to? Yours? Mine? Why not the Taliban's? This is why I hold that we most judge people by the LAW, and not morality. Adjudicating morality is a very dangerous, very slippery slope, in my opinion.
This is why I say, if they did not break a law, move on, for the most part.
And honestly, as a nation we have much bigger problems than Weiner's wiener, or his lies about it.
Well, I'm glad we cleared that up, and I hope to have a less confrontational, more civil debate with you in the future.
Hey Bloggerrich (post 5.32):
One of the REAL problems with our electoral politics lies in the problem of something TRUE LIBS or PROGRESSIVES refer to as "dinos" (democrats in name only). The corresponding group in the GOP R the "rinos" (republicans in name only).
WE have a significant voting block of dinos (who DON'T vote as liberals, or even "moderate" sometimes). Combine that with their rino buddies, who R busy undermining and highjacking the republican party to reflect the "values" of the likes of the Koch brothers, Coors Family, Walton Family and other modern day robber barons, and U wind up with a legislative branch that can, and too often does, skew to the "right" ( as in "wrong") end of the political spectrum.
Combine the massive "redistribution" of wealth FROM the middle and lower working class by BIG corporate policies and hostile, adversarial strategies (such as what we've all witnessed starting in the spring of 1981 with republicans firing unionized air traffic controllers-- and continuing till current day) and we wind up with outsourcing and downsizing American jobs, along with intellectually downsizing the lower 40 to 60% of our people.
Do YA THINK THAT MAYBE TRUE LIBS R CIRCLING WAGONS AROUND AGGRESSIVE PROGRESSIVES LIKE ANTHONY WEINER BECAUSE THEY CONSTITUTE ONLY A SMALL NUMBER AMONG ALL THE LEGISLATORS ON THE HILL... AND WE ALL CAN ILL AFFORD TO, BORROWING FROM RACHEL MADDOW, RISK A UNI-LATERAL DISARMAMENT BY TRUE LIBS, WHILE THE NUKLEAR NUCKLEHEADED PACHYDERMS CONTINUE UNCHECKED, STOMPING THEIR BIG CLUMSY FEET AND TRAMPLING OVER EVERYBODIES RIGHTS ??
When Obama and his former press secretary Robert Gibbs spoke disrespectfully of what they referred to as the "extremists" on the left within his "base," they were ACTUALLY NOT referring to our tiny slice of libs.
They only wanted the viewers of corporate owned, commercially driven / compromised media ( such as ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and FOX ), who can't,don't or won't check out OTHER news and info. sources (like the Nation or Mother Jones magazine, FSTV, LINK TV, MSNBC evening line-up or Pacifica), to fall into the belief that only a tiny slice of the population skews "liberal"--when, in fact, a supermajority of Americans consistently poll middle and left of middle.... ESPECIALLY on matters dealing with foreign policy reversal, criminal investigation, prosecution and asset retrieval of white kollar kriminals, restoration of funding various "social" services such as education, transportation and energy infrastructure...among MANY OTHERS.
U might want to check out what Naomi Klein, Jeremy Scahill, Robert Fisk, John Perkins, David Cay Johnston, Manfred Max Neef, Howard Zinn, George Carlin, Noam Chomsky, Juan Gonzalez, Amy Goodman, Gore Vidal, Dean Becker and Medea Benjamin, among others, have to say about life and living...BEFORE U PAINT WITH SUCH A BROAD BRUSH.
BTW, the executative branch of BOTH parties have balanced the federal budget by taking $$ from that which is meant for medicare / social security.THINK ABOUT THAT B4 U R inclined 2 criticize gov't "(as) the problem." It's NOT the institution as much as it's the UNDERMINING of same, by people who sell their sole to the BIG CORPORATE PIMPS such as David Koch and his brother.... by people who have more in common with their corporate pimps than with voting, working stiffs like U and me. A written "contract" is only as viable as people r willing 2 make it...that goes 4 the U.S. Constitution too.
Fiscal discipline is something U will find with lots of progressives, not just regressive / pachyderm politicos. BTW...pachyderm politicos R anything BUT fiscally prudent.
I ALSO believe in gun rights/ right of an INDIVIDUAL to self-defense ...and I'm a lib who is anti-war and NOT PRO MILITARY (which, for those who aren't too practiced with nuanced thinking, means I CAN stand up for the "rights" of returning servicemen/women...unlike war kriminal Donald Rumsfeld, who basically told a soldier on NATIONAL TV he was sh*$ out of luck on the matter of a bullet riddled vest the military was going to deduct $600 from the soldier's pay.) nice...really looking out 4 the tax payer with ONE side of his mouth...WHILE HIS PARTY PRIVATIZED the bottom 60% into the poor house...starting with KBR...and ending up with 4 or 6 BILLION UNACCOUNTED FOR TAX DOLLARS IN IRAQ B4 BUSH HIGHTAILED IT.
The REAL JOKE is with the Pachyderm contingent of the GOP and the minion they have systematically hoodwinked, much like the Nazi party did in 1930s Germany (the least humorous nation, BTW). hmmm.. maybe there IS something 2 B said about having a sense of humor ??
OH !! Bill Clinton was the biggest traitor when he shepherded the poor out of welfare assistance into "workfare," as per pachyderm wishes... and created a HUMONGOUS NUMBER OF LOW WAGE, SUCK-ASS JOBS slaughtering chickens.
Rush Limbaugh ain't the only 1 with a sense of humor...
go find out what Medea Benjamin's group did one day outside the G.W.Bush White House.
while U at it, google Church of the Stop Shopping.
and if U feel like music, check out Roy Zimmerman.
In closing... THIS LIB MAY B AGNOSTIC... BUT HE'S OPEN MINDED ENUFF 2 PRAY 4 YOR CLUMSY PACHYDERM SOUL.
GOD HELP US ALL.
I hope Weiner Dog stays in Congress. He and Charlie Rangel will provide Republicans with great campaign ad material next fall.
Sorry Hugh, that dog has got to GO! This is not about his political affiliation, R or D doesn't matter! When he, as a person that was elected to represent the people of his District, shows such horrible judgement, not just once, but over and over again for several years before and now during his marriage, he has got to leave. He has abused his public position and has tainted the trust that a few people still have in the Government. Private life is what he deserves, then he can Twit, text, sext, Facebook and whatever he wants to do on his time. When someone takes the Oath of Office, they surrender their Private Life for the Public Office! That's just the way it is!
Dollar to a donut most of these holier than thou posters have done worse and are convinced they could run the country better than any of them..........betcha.
When Chris Lee posted his shirtless torso, Boehner fired him within 60 seconds, (as he should have). But I'm hoping that Pelosi will leave Rangel and Weiner in leadership positions. It will make for beautiful campaign ads.
Could be ..... But they didnt lie about it! Well Much! God this is so much fun! You dont see the liberals on the run this much on their own web site. Im doing as many screen caps as I can!
Let me explain how things work, since you obviously need some help. Boehner called Chris Lee and told him there would be a full congressional investigation and the Speaker was going to pressure GOP House members to either censure or expel Lee as an example to the entire country. Then Lee wisely agreed to do the right thing and step down. What else could he do?
The liberal kookosphere was howling with delight when Lee got busted. But now, the same kooks are strangely defensive about Weiner. That's called "hypocrisy".
I pray that Weiner Dog and Rangel are still in the House next October. They will prove handy tools. But sadly, I don't see any way they can make it.
I wasn't "howling". I thought it was a stupid reason for him to resign.
Boehner can't "fire" anybody............duffus.
True to course these morons are salivating at the opportunity to FINALLY have a rebuttal to the long list of morally corrupt hypocrites that did far worse while extolling their devotion to Christianity that occupy seats in the GOP.
“FINALLY have a rebuttal to the long list of morally corrupt hypocrites”
Oh, you mean guys like John Edwards, Elliot Spitzer, Anthony Weiner Dog, Eric Massa, Jim McGreevey, Mel Reynolds, Gary Studds, Barney Frank, Bill Clinton, etc?
Mike Duvall,Christopher Lee,Mark Sanford,John Ensign,Vito Fossella,Larry Craig,David Vitter,Charles R. Boutin,Newt Gingrich,Bob Allen,Mark Foley,Don Sherwood,James E. West,Jack Ryan,Steve LaTourette,Rudy Giuliani,,Henry Hyde,Helen Chenoweth-Hage,Bob Livingston,Bob Packwood,Ken Calvert,Jon Grunseth,Buz Lukens,Dan Crane,John G. Schmitz,Jon Hinson,Robert Bauman,Thomas B. Evans, Jr.
I can post more names if you really want to get into a quantitative debate.
“if you really want to get into a quantitative debate”
I prefer a qualitative debate, and if you hang around in my threads you’ll learn what that means.
After liberals defended Bill Clinton for raping Juanita Broadderick (and other activities), they pretty much lost all credibility on the subject of “sexual scandals”. When Hillary abruptly ended the family’s Utah vacation after hearing the familiar description of Bill’s proclivity for chewing the lower lip of his victims, there was no doubt remaining.
Rapist-In-Chief. Wow. It’s hard to top that one.
By the way, are you giving odds on whether Weiner will survive? I say less than 20%.
Hugh Everett...so...let's see ....You proved that Bullying is a necessity for all Republicans. Gee...I guess being a former Republican I knew that. One word from Boner Boy and the guy was "out"? Hmmm...Big Tough Guy Boehner who cries at the drop of a hat?
How about you knock off that bias against Democrats and stick to the point? Weiner disgraced himself not because of the sex. How do you think the Bush twins got here? Immaculate Conception? That figures. With Laura Adora always walking two steps to avoid the swagger, swagger boom boom, I guess it would have to be.
Bill Clinton raped no one. You can drop that "saving the flower of southern womanhood BS". No one north of the Mason Dixon line believes in that crappola. Some flowers of southern womanhood are the worst bunch of golddigging phonies who'd sidle up to Mr. Ed if he had the Big Oil Men's bucks. Who are you kidding?
Rapist-In-Chief. Wow. It’s hard to top that one.
Hey dimbulb - do a little research on Bush's rape charges before you start rambling about Clinton.
Odds on Weiner surviving, 50 - 50. Personally I think he should resign and run again if he so chooses.
Chris Christie-helocopter ride-twice-taxpayers expense-paid for when he got caught.
You say WHAT???????????????????????Vagrant violation of ethics
So drano-2462756 put your money where your mouth is and get Christie to resign, You notice the GOP aren't filing ethics on him.
Oh ya, Weiner WILL survive this
@MJL not sure I understand your comment, I actually agree with you if you're implying that the GOP are hypocrites, I wish Christie would resign. By the same token, when a DEM pulls this crap it's only fair to apply the same standards to your guy to avoid the gutter surfing that the Repukes do. My opinion, Weiner would win re-election if he resigned and ran again next year and by resigning he would end the distraction now....no one can argue with a straight face that Weiner didn't totally screw the pooch on this one.
drabi-2462756
well there is supposed to be more pics of Weiner, so if in fact their are, then yes he should resign, it is a shame that he did this , he was so good at fighting for the middle class.
Another amazingly ignorant thing liberals do...when Israel attacks Palestinians or spreads out into their territory, they go nuts...even seem to hate Israel. Then a Pro-Israeli Jewish Democrat runs and gets voted in by you and he is great with the exception of this whole pictures through Twitter crap. Do you people have any clue who you are voting for? Do you? Does it make sense to you that the Republicans are very friendly with the Israelis, but most Jewish politicians are liberal Democrats. Does this really make sense to you. Do you ask why? Maybe it is because if they get enough of the lower income populace in this country, they are covering all their bases. Israel loves American Republicans. So, why are most of the pro-Israel American Jews, Democrats? Does anybody even ask themselves why this makes no sense. You people are in the "matrix" and you don't even know it.
Another amazingly ignorant thing liberals do...when Israel attacks Palestinians or spreads out into their territory, they go nuts...even seem to hate Israel.
Great stereotyping there Bloggerrich. You couldn't be further from the truth. I support Israel wholeheartedly, but that support doesn't mean I think the Palestinians should simply be ignored. If the right would quit conflating issues and repeating them out of context and in the process building walls to compromise there just might be progress on many social, political and economic issues. Here is an example....when Obama gave his speech referring to Israel and returning to the 1967 borders, the GOP jumped on the speech and conveniently forgot 2 things that each in it's own right changes the context of the statement the first being that with respect to the 1967 borders both sides agreed to certain land swaps meaning not a strict return to those borders, but a border redefined that both sides agreed to and benefit from, and the second being that this has been US policy for quite some time preceding the Obama administration.
The fact remains as follows. As of yet, no crime. Ethically is he a moral man? Even that is perception to a degree as we seen bore out in politics. Is that what we except from our elected representatives? On the republican side in the last couple of weeks you have Ensign. Who has broken the law as well as gone morally bankrupt. As it stands in the last couple of weeks we have for the democrats a Wiener. Who has not broken any laws but showed it has a since of IRONY. And a baby on the way. And a huge fan in Andrew Breitbart.
But lets jump back a moment. For you see republicans have NO room to speak as they reserve the harshest tongue l;ashing for the one as of late who HASNT broken any laws. Now then I do not condone what a guy does on his free time within the law. And if his wife new "ah -saw- lou". [lol]
But to act as though this is breaking news is redundant. This would not be a big deal had he shut the you know what up.. He could have dismissed it as non scince of his private doing. And had not even his wife to account to. But instead he lied which is thee biggest piece to this as of late. You say really?
And I say yes because I have not heard fellow republicans denounce the lackluster gentlemen from Oklahoma for his involvement being hes soooo Christian and all or Ensign other than he did the right thing. By skipping out ahead of ethics and criminal charges of course. But go ahead and play politics with Wiener. That is your choice but it really is a small issue and that is that
cheers
LOL.
"Please, please. PLEASE stop paying attention to our pervert. Look, here's some Republicans who have done bad things. That makes what Weiner did okay!"
Strawman argument fail.
No its not. You are simply the straw man. Because you miss my argument by so far your on the wrong side of the field. Even though you have been following [trolling] me if you will you have obviously read my other posts on this matter. So if you were aware of the world around you you might see my point. Still don't get it? Let me enlighten you. My point is they ALL must keep it down. Shut it up if you will. Republicans and democrats alike. They ALL have zero room to speak. And as of yet I have not heard ANY democrats call for anything until yesterday. But republicans have been out ahead of this. Why? As though they are our moral superior to speak down to any of us about anything?
And here you are.. Showing up to further prove my point to the enth degree. Are you a republican maam or sir? Because this man did what he did on his own time thus far and it is NOT I repeat NOT illegal as of yet. So your quibble is what? Lying? As though the republicans do not do that? If we still choose to equate they all do that as well. So your wish to misinterpret my argument has been ended. And if you continue to denigrate it as otherwise you will simply be.. Well. Lying. ; ]
Cheers
Mentioning anyone else besides the Republican who asked for his resignation, and the pervert who tweeted dick pics to a girl who found it "gross" (her words), is a strawman argument. You should look it up. Trying to justify what this pervert did by saying either "He's not from the party of family values!" or "He never broke the law!" or "Here's a list of Republicans who did worse things!" is about as empty of an argument as you can make.
Basically, what you're saying, is you hold your party to no ethical standard whatsoever. You don't care that he thought you were so stupid that you would never figure out he was lying. You don't feel that ethics should be paramount for a person who is helping RUN THE COUNTRY. That's a sad, sorry statement to make, and one that is damaging your own party. Even his OWN coworkers want him the hell out.
But no, we'll just do another Rangel "ethics investigation" (LOL), and he'll still be up there running the country. A man willing to lie to his wife, the person who he should share EVERYTHING with, will have no problem lying to you, a stranger. If you think he has some sort of special connection with you because you're both Democrats, and he would never do that, you're about as stupid as I think you are
You are wrong. Here is why. This guys a politician. Politicians weigh in. Republicans weighed in first which makes it relevant. How? By expressing outrage for Wiener when they expressed little outrage other wise as pertaining to there own caucus. What makes that important? The fact that it is a double standard. Double standards are not only un professional but looked down upon. Why not except criminal behavior but not twitter picking? Hmm. Seems strange to act as though weigh'n in on either or party is not relevant. It is relevant. To the point of almost encompassing the entire argument because this what Wiener did is little more than small in comparison. His wife doesn't care and my GUESS is that's how he met her. So straw man? No. Because the substance behind it outweighs YOUR argument of re framing the argument. It took the turn it took and you wish it to be otherwise. But it is not. ;
Also that whole thing you do of assuming to know me gives you away. How? Because all you have to do is ask. Like when you assume the Democrats are my party. They are not. Nor are the righties. You should truly overcome that bias you have or your life will remain meaningless to all but you.
Post script; Again, as I WROTE earlier I have no party. I am unafilliated and have voted both often. Also on other comments you relied to or near I also wrote I thought it to be an unethical act and should not be represented where it is. So it ALL goes back around to the original point. They should all shut the you know what up about it. BOTH parties. They have failed us numerous times and a month from now more republicans will again,.. Fail us. Savvy?
Cheers
LOL whatever makes you feel better about being a partisan hack for the liberals.
You can call yourself an independent, but independents like me don't take this crap from either party.
You condone it from the Democrats and try to draw attention away by mentioning Republicans.
"I'm an independent who always votes democrat!"
I feel much better than you, a lowly name caller who simply is to simple to understand point or argument. Furthermore AGAIN as you are to simple to comprehend it. I am Un affiliated. Independent is a party that exists. Also I have voted both ways often. So lots of laughs you say? At your expense my friend. At your expense.
Cheers
LOL = laugh out loud. Try to keep up grandpa.
Second, you can go on the list of the other "independents" who think so little of ethics and morals that it makes me sad you're allowed to both vote and procreate.
There. I didn't call you a liberal. Just a morally bankrupt moron whom I hope is sterile.
Still a lowly name caller who must resort to calling names as though you are in preschool. Did mommy take your favorite toy away? Unable to cope? What?
What is it that makes you so simple in thought you cannot keep up? You cannot argue much of a point at all. Simply call names and espouse what it "is" you think its all about. You are easily led. More than that you should stop what it is your doing. Your not good at it. And by the way the fact you have NO argument shows your infertility. And your names impotent ; ]
Cheers
mowdy,
You know if you put a fool in a barrel, roll it down a hill, then take them out, they're still a fool.
They call you the names they can relate to the most, because that's who they are.
Now if you were a liar, you would be loved.
Just an opinion.
You know the discussion's gone bad when you have to scroll up 5 posts just to see what in the world is being talked about. If you have to have abusive posts,at least put some topical substance into them; otherwise it's just playground name-calling.
Clinton and Paula Jones, Jennifer Flowers, Cathlene Willey, Monica; Barney Frank had a gay prostitution ring running out of his basement; now Weiner shows himself to the world. Any and all of them should be thrown out, both parties, for this kind of behavior. They are supposed to represent us, and they can't even represent themselves in a civil, moral manner.
Barney Frank did NOT run a gay prostitution ring out of his basement. His personnal assistant Stephen Gobie made allegations that Frank was aware that he (Gobie) was bringing clients to the congressman's Washington, D.C., apartment, after Frank fired him in 1987. In July 1990, the House Ethics Committee, in a 57-page report, rejected as untrue Gobie's charges that Frank knew about any prostitution ring.
If we're listing immoral politicians: GOP - Nixon, Vitter, Craig, Lee, Ensign, Coburn, Mark Sanford, DeLay, Libby, Bob Ney, Ted Stevens, Gingrich, Randy Cunningham, Ohio Republican Donald Lukens and many more.
Why isn't anybody talking about the immoral behavior of the Wall Street Banksters or Corporate welfare? They caused the depression and destroyed the middle class and yet none went went to prison, very few if any resigned, and most stayed in power and got big fat bonuses. That bothers me a lot more than Weiner or Clinton or even GOP sex scandels.
I just cannot wrap my mind around the notion that we are sending elected officials to enact laws, levy taxes and defend our country and when politicians on both sides of the aisle sell out to the highest bidder for a few pieces of silver everyone says that's just how it is and kind of shrugs their shoulders.
But when one of those same nitwits makes an ass out of him(or her)self people get apoplectic and start screaming to the high heavens that they be tossed to the lions.
It's because people feel helpless and know that they cannot do anything about questionable shady deals behind closed doors. But, when a scandal hits the front pages and is confirmed, everybody gets to let out all of their frustration and anger because they have something tangible to direct it at.
The Real Meridian...Oh puhlease...Those big boobed, big haired babes were looking for a guy with power. Shows what men know about women. Since I'm one...let me tell you...just because a red state magnolia comes off "sweet" enough to cause herself diabetes, doesn't mean she's virginal, innocent pure and holy. Or are you trying to convince us Daisy Mae was the Virgin Mary?
Women get off on men with power. They stupidly assume that his power aura is also a sign of power in his trousers. As for poor Jennifer Flowers, Poor Monica and the rest of the gold diggers, these are women with more money in their eyes than brains. If Monica Lewinsky was all that "innocent", what stopped her from screaming "rape"? She didn't did she? You bet you sweet patoot she enjoyed what Clinton was doing.
Yeesh...Can right wing neocon males be that naive?
I care a lot less about what went on than the fact that he lied about it. Same deal with Clinton. Fine, whatever you did outside your marriage, that's between you and your spouse. What bothers me is when you lie about it and your lies end up wasting tax payer money in the ensuing investigations. And just to cover the bases with the "Bush lied" crowd, there's a distinction for me at least when we're talking about matters of national security and infidelity. One is what tax payer money is supposed to pay for, the other is a complete waste of resources.
Laural and Hardy
Mutt and Jeff
Abbott and Costello
See I can do it tooo
that was well said and of more substance/on topic than all the other comments Ive read so far.
@therealmeridian
What part of the election process selects for moral leadership? Don't campaigns entirely run now on how badly you can gut your opponent and how vague you can make your promises now? Can you remember the last time you compared two political contenders on a moral platform (absent any political scandal)? It's not a high pedestal.
Kaff, you are mistaken.
Our election process is "He who has or raises the most money wins."
The debates, platforms, speeches, promises, opponent gutting, and baby kissing are all simply a means to raising money.
There are enough crooks in Washington as it is. We don't need any more. Election is supposed to reflect trust, and this guy cannot be trusted.
OleTNHillbilly...I agree. If you can't trust an elected official, he doesn't belong in office.
Look at MJL-3 trying to make the Democrat pervert story about Republicans. LOL.
FactsNotRhetoric
Look at MJL-3 trying to make the Democrat pervert story about Republicans. LOL.
It is about BOTH parties, they BOTH need to stop this @!$%#
It's not the political parties. It's us. We can't keep it in our pants, and we never learn from lessons like this. Politicians are just as human as everyone else. Whenever we denigrate politicians, we are actually insulting ourselves. We vote for the people we put in office! These people have the least control of any job in landing themselves in their position. They represent our decisions, and we are to blame for their mistakes, because we put them there.
Kaff,
Truer words i have never heard.
As George Carlin put it, Politicians are nothing more than a product of the society we live in. They are not super special, super human bastions of right, they are you and me, they are average Americans.
Or to sum it up, You get out of the system no more than you put into it, SISO, Sh!t in, Sh!t out!
I am sick and tired of egotistical, self-righteous politicians, whether from the right, middle or left. Put his ego where it belongs - out the door and on the street.
Just got into the old game of politics, 'eh? Go back to George Washington and work forward by researching every single, solitary politician and their supporters. The list of sexual trysts will, likely, cause you to choke on your Hebrew National! This is nothing new! It's just new & improved fodder served up SOLELY for the purpose of distracting Americans from the real issues we are facing, It's working quite well, don't you think? It boggles my mind that anyone could fall for this warped crap hook line and sinker while America is literally sinking! Can't wrap my head around it. REALLY, AMERICA?
I think he'll still be a hardworking politician and new yorkers will forgive him for
this juvenile action. Why do we think politicians are not human being with flaws.
I know a lot of people who have made silly emails, postings and tweets. Really
its a personal problem for him and he's apologized for the dishonesty. Enough
for me.
It's because they live privileged lives and are given practically anything that they want – Sometimes for life. We are baffled that they would risk throwing it away so easily when most of us struggle to make ends meet.
You have no sense of reasoning. He is a scumbag that has a job that effects everybody in this country. He must go.
The fact that he lied to your face, and you still trust him to not lie to you again makes me oh so happy anyone can vote.
Apparently, we need to institute an IQ test to vote.
FactsNotRhetoric...Good idea. One problem though. The liberals will demand there be a curve to make it fair for those that are not as smart as the national average. That will essentially negate any filtering of the not-so-smarts, only leaving those that are comatose without a vote. However, people were dragging granny off her death bed to vote for Obama, so maybe they'll work out some kind of drool and vote plan.
Actually, it would be better for their election chances if they kept it strict. Statistics are pretty prejudiced.
Enough about Weiner send me some pictures of Palin. That would be nice.
Ewe, I would like to send you her picture without the Makeup (caked on)! She is not pretty. Just my opinion!
Voting for America. Some say it is a sin for women to wear make up but I think it might be a sin if some do not.
Bama...my sentiments exactly. I feel the same about men and jock straps. For some men to go without one would be a sin. For others, it's just wishful thinking.
Bama-836911
Enough about Weiner send me some pictures of Palin. That would be nice.
what ever make ya happy, YUK
What a dork.
My question isnt about Weiner.. Per say. My question is how did the republican chairman get it up there let alone stuck?! And if you want the weiner out whyd you ever stick it in there in the first place? Hmmm?! So drove.. ; ]
Cheers
What about those mommys out there? Who call hot dogs Wieners and eat them every day? What about the humiliation they must now feel when there child asks for hot wieners... ; ]
Cheers
please don't resign! The Republicans need you for two more years to point out each day what a cesspool the Democrat leadership is! And all the jokes! Weiner and Edwards for
PRESIDENT/VICE PRESIDENT in 2012
gp, please don't tell me you believe this is a Party thing! I don't believe he is the only one, either. Just the "one that was caught" now. If you think this is the fodder that will chose a party candidate, please don't vote! We need to get beyond the little R and D by the names of the candidates. Candidates have switched parties, just to have a chance to run. The best way to vote for someone is research their position(s) and align them with your chief concerns and vote for the ones that believe the way you do. That won't usually be a "straight ticket". America has too much at stake to keep electing people to office based solely on their Party! We literally can't afford to make another mistake at the polls!
raotflmao. ole weiner sure got himself in a crack this time. oops, wrong view. it was from the other side. lolol. Just another Democratic joke. Not that we need more of them to laugh at.
You want an ironic joke? How about staunchly anti-gay republicans being caught in sexual situations that were also gay. Like tapping code under bathroom stalls, or trying to bother the page boys at work. There are plenty of idiots to chose from, not just one party's, though no one should laugh because they've been in charge while they play around on the internet at their work like some sub-par employee of a corporation. They've all brought us to this crisis state the country is in and they've some how become at least minor millionaires. How much time of his day does Weiner spend texting and twittering about sex? Same for the rest of congress? They even play with their IPhones while the CSPAN cameras are running. >:(
You all were looking at his bare chest. I was looking at the background trying to see if he was doing this in his friggin office.
They are the highest authorities in the land that is why they get away with just about anything. They don't have a boss that calls them into the office and says, "I've noticed you spend x amount of company time on the internet per day..", or who takes the difference out of their pay for being late or absent, or not working while at work. Do they find out what is in a bill or just show up, vote on their interpretation of whats in the title and then go home and take a nap? What DO they do all day?
That is why I think there needs to be established a FOURTH branch of government that simply looks at what the elected members of the other three branches are doing and then docks their pay where applicable according to a strict set of rules. We could take the IRS, scale it down to a pannel of 10 people and reapply it here, instead of using it to bully citizens as the government does now.
Of course the elected members would all be put on a time card system but with scannable personal cards that they need to swipe to get in and out of places including their office. And their internet use would be monitored to make sure they used it mainly for research.
Ok I'm dreaming here. But damn, something needs to be done..
g.p. Are you forgetting about ALL the republicans that were caught? Compared to them Anthony Weiner is minor. Lets see...John Ensign, David Vitter, Larry Craig, Newt Ginrich, Mark Foley, Mark Stanford, Ted Haggard, Arnold Swartznagger, Rudy guiliani and i can keep going. If you want to throw stones or make jokes maybe you should remember the republicans are far from perfect.. NOBODY IS
Exactly. I don't think he should resign and wait for his constituent's opinion.
"what a cesspool the Democrat leadership is"???
I'll have you know scum can be found on both sides of the isle. I don't normally defend either side when it pertains to these sort of transgressions, but considering your comment's lack of accountability for "family values" Republican transgressions, I'll make an exception. Like I said: Scum can be found on BOTH sides of the isle. You can probably find as long and distinguished list having to do with Democrats. The point being made to the OP is, that before you begin to throw stones make sure you're not living in a glass house.
umakemelaugh post 14.8 So you are impartial and just happen to have this litany of Republican allegations at your fingertips?
Well that shows us how impartial you are. A spade is a spade, this is not about what someone else did it is about Weiner. So spare us your "iIdont usually do this B.S" and call the spade the spade. For me it is all about his lieing ,deseption and coverup that tells me and any other reasonable person he has to go.

former aide to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was convicted of
sexual exploitation of a child.[27]

Republican member of Congress from New York City, admitted to police to having
a child out-of-wedlock when stopped for drunk driving.[28]

Derek Walker, former
Eagle Scout and candidate seeking the GOP nomination in a race for
north-central Pennsylvania district, was charged with felony burglary and
criminal trespass stemming from an encounter last year with an ex-girlfriend,

her engaged in an intimate moment with another man.[31]
Robert
"Bob" Allen, Florida state Rep. arrested in the afternoon
at a Veteran's Memorial Park for solicitation of prostitution from an

offer had something to do with his being afraid of black people.[32]
John David Roy Atchison,

Municipal Court in Bloomington, Minnesota, Craig entered a guilty plea and paid
a $500 fine.[36]. On September 1st, Craig subsequently
announced his retirement from the Senate[37].
Five days later, Craig changed his mind, renounced his retirement and began a
battle to have his guilty plea overturned.[38] Craig supported the Federal Marriage
Amendment, which barred extension of rights to same-sex couples; he voted for
cloture on the amendment in both 2004 and 2006, and was a cosponsor in 2008.
However, in late 2006 he appeared to endorse the right of individual states to
create same-sex civil unions, but said he would vote "yes" on an Idaho
constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages when pressured to clarify
his position by the anti-gay rights advocacy group Families for a Better Idaho.
Craig voted against cloture in 2002, which would have extended the federal
definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation.[39]

County state Republican committeeman, was convicted of molesting an underage
teenage boy and sentenced to serve six to 18 months in prison.[40]

teenage foster daughters.[45][46]

on his home computer after six years of legal wrangling. In 2002, charged with
child molestation and under house arrest on federal charges of possessing child
pornography, political analysts still gave him a 50-50 chance of winning the March 5 primary for the
Orange County Superior Court seat. He lost the election to a write-in
candidate.
Joseph M. McDade,
75, was issued a summons on a charge of exposure of sexual organs, a
misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. The longtime
Pennsylvania Republican congressman who served for 36 years in the House and
now works for a Washington lobbying firm, has been accused of exposing his

cocktail waitress of grabbing her, shoving her against a wall and threatening
her after she rebuffed his advances.[61][62] Since elected Governor, Gibbons is under
investigation by the FBI on corruption charges and is embroiled in what looks
set to become a very messy divorce.[63]
Ted Haggard, was fired as
pastor of the New Life Church and resigned from his position as president of
the National Association of Evangelicals in November 2006 after a former male
prostitute alleged they had a cash-for-sex relationship. The man also said he
saw Haggard use methamphetamine. Haggard confessed to undisclosed “sexual
immorality” and said he bought meth but didn’t use it.[64]
After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In Feb 2007, one of those ministers,

the confrontation and then was contacted by he Daily Kos blogger Lisbeth Lyons ...

Well, when Boehner gets in front of cameras, tells the American people his penis was hacked and used to have sex with another woman, then cries about it 2 weeks later as he admits it was him, we'll talk about that. Till then, you're grasping at straws to try to draw attention away from the matter involved in THIS STORY.
I wonder if Franks paid the rent in manwhore money on his apartment.
What's your point?
Umakemelaugh,
Now I know why Republicans is so against abortion. They seem to have so many child molesters in their party, they have to make sure they always have kids available. So they are all trying to make it illegal, and the mother guilty of murder no matter the reasons. It's okay for them to kill doctors, but let all fetus develop, so there will be more kids for them to molest.
At least Democrats are not fighting to legalize prostitution. That seem to be their preference.
Now I know why Republicans is so against abortion. They seem to have so many child molesters in their party, they have to make sure they always have kids available.
LOL.
Republicans (5)

- Robert Bauman (R-MD) - charged with attempting to solicit sex from a 16-year-old male prostitute (1980)
- Henry Hyde (R-IL) - "youthful indiscretion" (1998)
- Mark Foley (R-FL) - accusations of sending sexually explicit instant messages to an underage congressional page (2006)
Democrats (5)
- Mel Reynolds (D-IL) - indicted for sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse for a relationship with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer (1994), and was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography (1995)
- Roosevelt Dobbins (D-AR) - pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment for fondling a teenager (2005)
- Neil Goldschmidt (D-OR) former Oregon governor - affair with underage female who was 14, 1970s
- Fred Richmond (D-NY) - charged with soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy (1978)
- Sam Adams (D-OR) - Charged with having sex with a man who was underage at the time and trying to cover it up during his campaign for Mayor of Portland. OR. At the time of the begining of their relationship, the man was only 16. (2008)
Seems they're about even. Stop trying to justify what Weiner did by trying to contrast and compare to the Republicans. This isn't about the GOP, this is about Weiner and his tweets.
PS - this is an up to date list of sex scandals involving both parties with underage kids.
at this point, he hasn't sent anything to an underage girl, if he had, I would want his head on a pike too.
creepy and weird? yes, but no laws were broken, and I still think this is between him and his wife. wait until re-election and watch him go away then.
.....cept that little part about him paying off a porn star to keep her mouth shut with campaign funds.
it doesnt matter what party pulls the dumbazzed move. it is a matter or moral and ethical accountability. obviously, antknee sees nothing wrong unless it violates the law. well personally i would rather a total crook than a lying pencil neck chickensheet like this. he is a total coward who is not accepting any responsiblity, he is just admitting the obvious.
all of you libbies bought what this weiner was selling; you sold out your morals for another liar.
Then we feel like you Republican'ts do with all your moralless horndog "leaders".
K. Anderson...The thing I find most amusing (if amusement can be found that is) about this WeinerGate scandal? Men. Notice how the most vehement posters bashing Weiner are other men. Hmmm...do you suppose American men are policing each other's sexuality? Or is this just more male morality reining in their least controllable? roflmao.
well personally i would rather a total crook than a lying pencil neck chickensheet like this.
I see why you must be a Republican. You hate this man because he has a pencil neck and lied about something that affects his personal life. But you are accepting of all the other crooks. They don't lie, they are just crooks. I think you are mad because he doesn't have a pencil dick.
ewent... i think these men bashing Wiener have some wiener envy
So lying is a big deal with you? A little sexy play is enough to lose your job?
What if said politician lied and a person died? Would that be enough to have them arrested? How about if a thousand died? Ten thousand? How about a few hundred thousand? Is that worth getting arrested? Maybe even the death penalty?
You have a point there EGM11 ; however, if all of us together stood naked in front of the Judgement Throne, What would we see? Nothing that is hidden will remain hidden, all that is will be seen, paraphrase from the good book.
I'm a social liberal, and I screamed for hypocrites like Larry Craig and Mark Foley to be run out of office.
You gotta be consistent though - if they go, Anthony Weiner goes. It's as simple as that.
Why didn't Clinton and Barney Frank go? Try to be consistent.
Which of the several Congress men recently exposed with sexual transgressions has been a fearless fighter for the working man and woman in America? I dare say that Mr. Weiner is the only one. All others were shameless, self-serving sell-outs to the highest bidding corporate interest groups. Weiner now lives in a glass house, but he has never thrown stones.
I think the fact that ole oscar meyer sold out to his gonads is enough, don't you?
Real Meridian...Wishful thinking on your part. You righties did all you could to remove Clinton from office. Not because of his sexual antics. Because he was a Democrat, born to a single Mom (oooooh now there's a heinous crime for you), a Rhodes Scholar and former state governor. Waaaaaaay tooooo much for you guys not to go all green-eyed with envy over. And how dare he also be so intelligent and handsome at the same time? What? He broke the code of uggo males with no brains and no initiative (read lazy asses) and faces only their mothers love?
ewent,
You are so right. Clinton was trying to protect a woman who came on to him. He did not have sexual intercourse with her. She performed oral sex on him, it was not reciprocal. She is the one that said she came to Washington with knee pads.
When he went after OBL, they said it was a distraction to take focus off Monica. It was not, now they want to blame him for not going after OBL, when they are the ones that forced him to focus on the Monica thing, rather than what was really important.
Speaking as someone who's often been called a liberal, Weiner needs to resign. Anyone willing to impugn his office with a juvenile prank like that doesn't inspire the trust required to make it work. Besides, he could always find work as an exotic dancer...just kidding.....
"Speaking as someone who's often been called a liberal"
ouch.
I'll ditto the "up yours" to all the conservatrons on here yelling about "holier than thou liberals". I'm pretty damn liberal, and I say it's a no brainer that he has to go. Calm down and give it 72 hours. He's gone by Friday.
I don't think he needs to go, he sent pics. I do not agree or approve but there are many congressmen still in office that did alot worst...David Vitter and the DC maddem , John ensign and his affair with a staffer and tried to pay to cover it up.. What about Newt Ginrich and his affairs while serving as speaker of the house, and i can go on, but none of them were forced to resign. Compared to them what Anthony Weiner did is minor. he is still a great congressman and although i live in Michigan i support him.
If Weiner resigns, then Newt should give up his Presidential run.
Cantor lied about someone shooting at his office, when in fact the cops told him, because of the lack of force with which the bullet entered, it was just a stray and was obviously not intended for his office. He lied anyway. What about him?
Coburn lied and tried to cover up Ensign affair, what about him?
I could keep on going.
If we all rooted around in everyone we know's personal business no one would have a job! POLITICIANS are all the same! We vote for the one's we think will be the lesser of the evils. I would look at his past history in Congress and if you don't like it, don't vote him into office again but his personal life's issues are for him and his family to deal with! We all just need to butt out!
Sorry ohio1972, But once he was elected into Public Office, he lost his Private Life! Everything he does (all of them, not just him) is a matter of public record and can be used to help or hurt him. He chose this path! His lying and trying to cover it up was pathetic and he lost whatever trust he got with his position. The lesser of the evils, I know it's politics, but come-on, we have to vote better than that.
Yes Bill Clinton showed us all that you can screw around in the oval office and laugh all the way to the next election. When you look at Hilary he was justified in what he dicd
Pelosi is probably scrambling around trying to get a look at the pictures of ole oscar meyer. Probably her older brother, Harry too. lol
Voting for America
"But once he was elected into Public Office, he lost his Private Life! Everything he does (all of them, not just him) is a matter of public record and can be used to help or hurt him"
Great idea! Let's send in the Channel 11 News team next time he has a colonoscopy. What a wonderful way to encourage reasonable, civic minded people to run for office. I mean, look at all of the paragons of Statesmanship that we have leading us... no, wait... ummm... maybe not so much. I wonder why we don't have leaders like Thomas Jefferson... no wait, he slept with his slaves... so maybe Ben Franklin... oops, no, he was a world class whoremonger... how about Eisenhower... no, there's that affair thingy... Kennedy maybe??
I'm sure somewhere we can find us a bunch of Puritanical virgins who will be happy to let all of the big money lobbyists write all of that pesky regulatory and lax legislation while they concentrate on the important stuff like regulations about how many inches above the ankle a girls dress can be and making speeches that demand we return the entire country to 1958.
Sorry....lame argument. Judgement is a huge part of the job to which he was elected. His actions are indicative of poor (to say the least) judgement. He needs to go. What if the whistle blower had chosen to blackmail him instead of embarass him? The guy can yell and cry all he wants to about "protecting his wife" (ha!), but he did everything he could to get out of it and only fessed up when he had no choice. You don't think he would have bartered a few state secrets or sold a few votes to keep it quiet if he could have? Give me a break!
His PRIVATE life?! Seriously? I would think that as smart as everyone says he is that he would know that Twitter and Facebook postings are hardly private.
And this argument that he didn't break any laws? Well... yeah, according to him. And we know he would never lie to us. And isn't sending unsolicited, sexually explicit pics to women you've never met harassment.
I have pretty much come to the point that I'm embarrassed to have voted for politicians from EITHER party.
Great idea! Let's send in the Channel 11 News team next time he has a colonoscopy. What a wonderful way to encourage reasonable, civic minded people to run for office.
It's not an 'idea' it is the way it is. Channel 11 News team will be with whoever elected official is getting a root canal, manicure, dialysis, hang-nail or whatever. Once they get into "public office", everything they do is scrutinized, more so today because of the internet, camera phones and a more techo media. The list of names you have mentioned, how on Earth would you know what they did, unless their "private lives" were never private. If JFK wasn't President, do you think you would have known about his affair with Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe? Probably not, of course she probably wouldn't have had anything to do with him if he wasn't! It has been reported in articles that many slave owners slept with their female slaves, especially the ones that worked in the house. But, nothing is said or done, unless you are in the public office. That's my point.
We should totally not look into candidates and just take their words that they are competent, moral people who never lie and only want our best interests.
Because no one ever lies......
I'd like some of what you're smoking Hartvig Lein.
RhetoricNOFacts is a very ignorant and vulgar troll.
I have placed him on my "Ignore This Author" list.
Says the failinest fail troll in all failing. LOL
Take a look at joe wobblie's posts. It's like the crazy, drug addled rantings of a toddler with down's syndrome.
Are you going to add anything to the conversation, or just stalk me like some zit faced loser stalks the pretty cheerleader?
You probably know all about that dontcha?
Joe and Facts...: please stop the "p!ssing contest" on the Vine. Neither of you end up contributing to the article/discussion and both look very juvenile!
Where are all the "holier than thou" liberals demanding resignation when it's a conservative that does something like this.
Well they certainly are not surprised - that's for sure!
Here's one! The man is not trustworthy and wallows in juvenile crap. Out with him, enough already!
It's such a loss. There are so few people in Congress that I've really ever respected. Until now, he was one of them. It's a terrible loss for the people, but wrong is wrong, and Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal, if you do stupid crap, you get to pay for it.
I think he is still a good man. Over the last 40 years we have cheapened sex to such a degree that to expel someone from public office for a dalliance seem almost quaint, were it not so hypocritical.
so we cheapen in more and say nothing... don't think so.... the guy is a liar, a cheat and a pig..... hope he's gone soon....
What he did wasn't hypocritical but his continued lying on the talk show circuit was unbelievable obvious. It was only a matter of time before he would fess up. An elected public official does not have the luxury of a private life and nothing but honesty is expected even though rarely served. Had he simply admitted it up front, I wouldn't have a problem. They put themselves in these positions to do the people's work and the nature of politics leaves very little that is protected from political exploitation. If that is too much to handle, then the job is quite frankly too much to handle. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a leader and representative, but I don't think he can be trusted because he wasn't honest when asked direct questions...makes me wonder what else he has lied about.
This pervert has lied about everything. Anything he says is a lie. And you and others still support him. No wonder our country is so FKed up. People like Weeney should be in prison. Instead, he is in Congress. And you NY fools will keep electing him because you are just like him, a joke, a liar, and a pervert.
mikeljn...One may only assume you have never considered sex as part of human nature? How did you get here then? Immaculate Conception? If we put every man in prison who did what Weiner did, the entire population of males would be imprisoned and the country would go broke for sure.
Obviously, you have never been on the internet? Never seen those "900" phone lines with dopey men and women pretending interest in a phone call? Never heard of Hugh Hefner or Playboy? Wow...I didn't think such men still existed. Hmmm...wait...maybe that cloistered life of the monastery is the reason?
ewent: Uuumm....we are broke. 14 Trillion and counting....and that doesn't include unfunded mandates which adds tens of trillions more.
OK dumbo's , the issue is not sex, its lying and hypocrisy. Same with the impeached President. For the 99th time, I really could give a rat's ass if the Weiner was on X rated internet sites pulling his weiner all day long. However, once you are so cavalier with the truth then your usefulness as the people's representative is over. Can't wait till the truth about the liar in chief comes out about his ineligibility and his fraudulent use of a fake social security #. That will definitely be a foot long weiner day!
ttard hit the mark, regarding the issue with Weiner. The fact that it happened isn't the issue. He could have owned it, and we'd not be discussing. INSTEAD, he lied, made up a story that he knew was a lie and then proceeded to be contrite and arrogant about something he knowingly lied about. This is what makes him a problem, he was willing to LIE to everyone, scold others that "dared" to question him, then LIE about doing an investigation into the "hackers" that he knew didn't exist. THIS is what you want in office and trust with our country's wealth and future? You guys standing behind him (now that's funny in and of itself) are either IGNORANT or MORONS, and in either case dangerous as you have the power to VOTE...what's next, a child molestor as D.A? Heck if he gets caught, lies, then confesses, maybe so, I personally don't trust my child's future in hands like these...BAD SCAM of a MAN, bet he enjoys the coach...again HE LIED, COVERED UP...are we talking about Jim Tressel again?
Bill H....."quaint"?........"dallience?"..........what the hell are you talking about?
The guy emailed pictures of his semi-rigid johnson to women that could be his daughters. Don't dress it up.
This man has exercised poor judgement in getting into this position to begin with, and additionally by lying about it. With all of the problems facing this nation, we need people with good judgment as leaders. Yes, there are others in congress that exercise poor judgement, but this one got caught. He needs to go regardless of which party he's claims as his own.
TTard,
So you also think Vitter should resign then right!
The hypocrisy of the right is astounding! Cantor publicly defended Vitter, Ensign, Craig, & Sanford and then has the nerve to call for Weiner's resignation.
Straight Right wing Hypocrisy!
i do not agree with what he did but he only sent pics, what about John Ensign (affair with staffer and paid to cover it up), David Vitter (DC maddam), Mark Stanford (mistress in Argentina), Newt Ginrich (married to Calista who was his intern that he had an affair"8 yrs" with while married. not only was he married but his then wife was fighting cancer in the hospital and he handed her divorce papers. That was his 3rd affair, Rudy Guiliani who had an affair and announced on national tv that he was getting an divorce to marry his 3rd mistress , Mark Foley who was texting young MALE intern for sex, Larry Craig who was solitciting men foe sex in an airport bathroom, The married senator from wisconsin who left his wife for his mistress, Ted Haggard the leading evangelical spirital advisor for George Bush who preached about the evils of homosexuality but on the side was having an long term affair with a known male prostitute while buying and smoking crack and I can go on and on. These men were not forced to resign and Some were even re-elected, SO why should Anthony Weiner be forced to resign. Again i do not agree with what he did but compared to the rest this is nothing
Righty... lefty... conservate... liberal... it is a BIG mistake to think one side is more saintly than the other. There are plenty of pigs to go around. In his farewell speech when leaving office, George Washington said that one of the biggest threats to our country's progress was partisan politics.
This country is entrenched in a team mentality. We've taken our love of taking sides from football and baseball rivalries and applied it to politics, and this is a dumb thing to do.
Please don't fall into the trap of supporting a party... support PEOPLE instead. And if those people violate your trust, REGARDLESS of what team's jersey they wear... toss them out on their a**
erockaustin, you almost brought a tear to my eye! Well said, that is what I have been saying for years, too! Support the person running for office that aligns with your values and ideals. Forget the little letter behind the name, it means nothing. So many have changed party affiliations just to run for office, it doesn't matter what letter it is. There are and have been elected officials that have not had affairs and have done an honest job in office, even if I didn't agree with all that they voted for or against, it was their stance and they voted it. Fewer and harder to find these days. John McCain, though I don't like his politics, is just such a man. Married to a very rich and beautiful lady that is rich, he would be broke and stupid to cheat on her! Jon Kyle, I haven't heard of any mis-givings about his time in office. I don't like his politics, but he was an honest Senator. I know there are more, but we all like to concentrate on the headliners and negative ones that are in office.
Just wanted to say 'thanks' for being another smart voter!!!
Would you say "no big deal" if he jumped naked into the pool your kids were swimming in?
So, the guy got lonely and shot some pics of his wiener to CONSENTING ADULTS. It wasn't unpaid interns, or underage girls, or prostitutes/call girls, or boys; it was mature women who could have asked him to stop if they didn't like what they saw or made the choice to continue chatting with him.
Democrat or Republican is irrelevant. Bill 857242...you said, "Would you say "no big deal" if he jumped naked into the pool your kids were swimming in?" Here is a better question for you Bill...how many kids in the pool haven't sent lewd photos of each other to everyone in the pool? As I stated above Bill, the people Mr. Weiner was sexting were ADULTS not children. So, to answer your question Bill 857242 I would be more worried about the person who asked him for the photo(s) jumping naked into the pool with your kids because this woman convinced him to take the photo and send it to her.
You people are so naive now-a-days. Oh, my kid would never do that. He/she is a good kid. Please, your kids know more about sex than many adults do because of the television, radio, hollywood, magazines, and celebrities.
If Bill Clinton didn't resign or wasn't impeached, why should Anthony Weiner step down? After all Bill did more inappropriate misdoings with his weeny than Weiner did (as far as we know at the moment). Besides Huma knew before marrying Weiner her future (now current) husband was sexing females over the internet. Unless this impact on how he does his job, it's a personal issue he and his wife should deal with and not the public. And if Weiner is forced to resign, so should several other politicians, because without any doubt all of them have skeletons in their closets, some more so than others.
If Bill Clinton didn't resign or wasn't impeached,
William Jefferson Clinton was impeached:
http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/clinton/clintonhome.html
If Bill Clinton didn't resign or wasn't impeached,
William Jefferson Clinton was impeached:
He was acquitted.
Spg 64 ---Sorry for the late response, of course they all should have resigned. Probably the only good thing Newt has ever done is get out once the truth about him came to light. Scum is scum, doesn't matter if you have an R or D net to your name.
It's not a question of right and wrong- personally, I think his wife should be giving him hell about this right now, and I'm sure she is. The point is that WHEN Republicans get caught doing something like this it IS more of an issue, because they are the ones who do all the talking about how holy they are. It's not really a question of moral vs. amoral- it's a question of what should our government be doing?
For example, if I lived in Canada, I'd likely be a Conservative. Why? Because their sole focus is on things pertaining to economics and foreign policy. For the most part, they don't talk about Jesus, abortion, gay marriage, drugs, etc. Why? Because those aren't issues the government should be involved in. The problem with Cons here is that they HAVE to play to these people, who are a large part of their base- but then they end up not being what they say they are, which is the point. As I said though, in the end this means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to anyone but Weiner's wife.....and shouldn't....
You libs crack me up every single time. Its like you're all in lockstep with the same answer. I mean, do you guys not have one ounce of decency in you? You always go back to "so-and-so did it, why should Weiner step down." It doesn't matter who did it or what party, anybody that conducts themselves like this in public office should step down. WE SHOULD EXPECT MORE FROM BOTH PARTIES!!!
Both parties think there better then the rest of us . Just like move stars do. There all just alike.
I think he is the best rep we have, look at the tan man he is alot worse than weiner. He should stay in office.
I'm most concerned that he is making poor choices in his personal life, what choices will he make as a legislator, poor choices have lead us to where we are now.
I agree Slayerwulfe. So many here are posting that it is his private life, that the people in New York should decide if he stays or goes. Once this guy was elected to U.S. Congress, his decisions affect ALL of the country, not just New York. We do, and should, hold our elected officials to a higher standard. Weiner needs to be a man and do the right thing: resign.
